After studying with Setsuna at the library and having dinner at a diner, we returned ho, and I decided to follow her when she went out at night.
And just as expected, she left the house around midnight. I tried to follow her, but it was incredibly difficult.
The first thing I noticed during the chase was that her beautiful wings were now bizarrely dark, resembling the wings of a bat rather than the feathered wings she had before.
On top of that, she now flies much faster, at such a trendous speed that I lost her several tis during the pursuit. I only found her again because she wasn’t heading in specific directions but rather patrolling certain areas.
And what she was doing wasn’t quite what I expected. She was just hunting monsters. Sohow, she finds them in the most unlikely hiding spots possible, kills them quickly, and then goes right back to hunting more.
She spent hours doing this, and not just within the city. She even left the city limits, and that’s when it got difficult for because I no longer had buildings to use for following her, so I had to stop. But without a doubt, considering her speed, she’s probably hunting monsters across the entire planet.
Now I’m here at the edge of the city, the last place I saw her, and I don’t know what to do anymore.
’What should I even question? I wanted to see what Setsuna would do, so I’d have sothing to talk to her about... but it was nothing major...’ It’s undoubtedly different from what I expected.
That isn’t the problem I thought I’d find. Her killing monsters is actually a good thing, though the fact she isn’t sleeping to do it is dangerous and I don’t like it.
’What should I do...’ I lean against a lamppost, staring at the moon.
"Setsuna needs to stop this... but I can’t complain about her killing monsters..." Although she’s killing them in a way that’s a little too violent.
’Since when did she get so strong?’ Another notable thing I saw is her strength now. Her weapons deliver devastating blows, and her physical strength has beco monstrous.
"I wonder if Setsuna is the reason the monsters have been less active lately?" I ask myself this, and it actually makes sense. Considering her absurd speed and her rampant hunting of monsters, it’s obvious their numbers would decline.
’I guess I’ll just go ho and wait... everything should work out in ti...’ I start leaping across the buildings. Anyway, it was super difficult to follow Setsuna, so there’s no more reason to try.
It takes about two hours before I leap from a building and land on the street in front of my house. I take off my magical girl clothes as I reach the door, now in my normal attire.
"..." I open the door and turn on the light to illuminate the entryway.
"K-Kyaaa!" I let out a scream when I suddenly see Setsuna sitting on the sofa, covered in monster blood. My heart races because I didn’t expect her to be awake.
"S-Setsuna?" I didn’t expect her to already be ho, or to be here in the living room.
"Where were you?" she asks with a severe look.
"W-Well, I was..."
’Should I tell the truth?’ I was following her, and that’s kind of weird because her life is her own, and spying on what she’s doing is sowhat wrong.
"W-Well, I was just hunting monsters..." I end up not telling the truth, because if I do, she might get mad at , and we’re trying to fix things between us.
"..." She looks at for a mont before standing up.
"...You went out to kill monsters? Alone? Aren’t we on vacation?" she asks suspiciously.
"Well, we are... but it’s not like we can’t use our powers to save people..."
"Were you with Ophelia? Are you cheating on with her again?" she says confusing things.
"Again? Cheating? Setsuna, what are you talking about? I wasn’t with Ophelia," I ask while looking at her restless hands. She’s moving her fingers as if she’s about to start scratching herself or grabbing sothing.
"Haaa..." She lets out a strange sigh and throws herself back onto the sofa as if trying to calm down.
"So nothing ever happened?" she asks in a strange tone as I approach her.
"Setsuna, sothing is wrong, and I really want you to tell what it is right now. You’re hiding things, and I think we should have a more open conversation, like a couple should," I say authoritatively. I can’t stand her hiding things anymore.
"Ayane, your wings... how big are they?" she asks, confusing .
"H-How do you know..."
"How big?"
"...S-Small?" She seems to think about sothing for a mont.
"Ayane, did you know that angels are less affected by ti?" she asks another strange question.
"Do you rember your past lives?"
"N-No? Setsuna, what are you talking about? You’re confusing , and this is all very abrupt," I say, genuinely weirded out by this conversation. It makes wonder if she’s drunk or sothing.
"Did you know that when you die, in your next life, your angelic power increases? And did you know that every day I dream of you cheating on ? It’s funny, you know... because while these dreams force to use more of the power I have, they also force to make you stronger..."
"39 tis... I’ve seen you cheat on in the last 3 days... Are all 39 of them false? If they’re false, then am I doing sothing wrong?... Ayane, why did you lie today? Why didn’t you tell the truth..."
"If you had told you were following , I wouldn’t have to kill you... but if you lie to , how will I know if in this life you haven’t cheated on yet?" She says this while drawing her weapon and aiming it at .
"I tried so hard not to do anything. I was pushing you away to keep you safe, but you stupidly keep provoking like this... Now I’m going to kill you, and I don’t even know if I’m killing a dream Ayane or the real Ayane."
"W-WHAT?" I shout in shock, trying to activate my magical girl outfit. She waits while I create a barrier in front of .
"It’s... cute that you think that barrier can stop my attack... In your next life, I guess your wings will be big enough for you to fly... Please don’t tell lies in the next one. I hate it when you lie to ," she says and fires.
The shot that leaves the pistol is massive and shatters my barrier on contact, instantly vaporizing my body. The last thing I see is the flash of light from the shot.
