3 days have passed in total.

Yang Wei continued to diligently cultivate his spirit root paths.

He didn't have access to most of the spiritual Qi for his spirit root paths, so he focused mainly on cultivating water spiritual Qi. The Sapphire Crescent Talisman that he took from Jin Tianyu remained to be of good use; he could still cultivate it and push his water spirit root even higher.

Without any knowledge of how fast he was progressing, in the space of two out of the three days that had passed, he was able to push his water spirit root path from the 3rd level of Mortal Realm to 5th level.

As for his other spirit root paths, they were still very much stagnant as he hadn't devised any way to acquire those spiritual Qi types and then flourish the cultivation levels of those spirit root paths.

However, he was guaranteed hope for his fire spiritual Qi as he'd already planted the Dragonfire Spirit Seed and left it in the care of his capable juniors back at the Sect.

...

Yang Wei stood amidst the rice fields, where the villagers of Red Lantern Village were busy with their daily farming.

An elderly man called out, "Wei'er, please I need help chopping down these trees!"

"Sure thing!"

Yang Wei assud a stance and unleashed his Azure Sky Palm. With a powerful thrust, a gust of wind erupted from his palm, uprooting four trees and sending them flying a safe distance away.

Then, an elderly woman approached him, saying, "Wei'er, would you be a darling and help us water this part of the fields? It'll be quicker if you do it your way."

"O... Okay."

Yang Wei conjured a basketball-sized sphere of water and sent it skyward, where it multiplied into around 30 water spheres. With a wave of his hand, the spheres gently rained down, watering a large portion of the rice fields.

"Is that okay?" he asked.

Approaching him with a trembling hand, the elderly woman touched Yang Wei's cheek and remarked, "Such a sweet boy."

Then, a wrinkled-faced lady shuffled over and weakly hugged Yang Wei's arm. "Oh, Wei'er, feel free to visit my ho anyti, I have so sweets you'd like," she then puckered her lips for a kiss.

Yang Wei cringed all the way to his spine.

"Ehhhh... that's not necessary."

He slipped out of their grasp.

One of the elderly won teased, "Aww, are we too old for you, Wei Shuai~?"

It's only cute when Xiao Yue says it! Yang Wei scread in his mind.

The other grandma then said, "You know how you made these bushy fields wet? You can always co do the sa ours you sweet, handso, young man~!" The wrinkle-faced woman then winked at him.

I feel the sudden urge to vomit...

Yang Wei chuckled nervously, "Erm, that's an interesting offer."

Quickly, he made his escape, walking through the open space between the tall rice plants.

Yang Wei was dressed in a simple blue jinbei.

However, the jinbei was so worn out its bright blue colour had turned pale.

It was a simple farming attire that Wu Shu had given him.

He carried a long sickle in one hand and wore a basket full of rice grains on his back.

So girls spotted him and one of them squealed, "EEK! He's so handso!"

"Look at how clean his skin is! It's like jade!"

"If only I could breathe the sa air he does!"

All five girls waved enthusiastically, but Yang Wei just sighed and ignored them.

Most of the won in this village are so average... not ugly, average. It's sowhat off-putting. Sigh~ what I wouldn't give to see so jade-like beauties...

As he walked, he encountered so middle-aged bald n whose heads were shining as bright as the sun.

One of them asked, "How's your morning, Yang Wei?"

Yang Wei smiled, "Uh, it's good."

Another chid in, "Have a nice day! Don't trip and harm that handso face of yours!"

"BAHAHAHAH!"

All the n laughed.

The villagers had welcod him completely. He helped them a lot on the farm when he wasn't cultivating, and even taught so of the village children martial arts. Initially, it was Wu Fengtian's job, but they were more interested in learning from Yang Wei, the cooler and more good-looking Senior Brother. They believed it would make them popular with their peers.

Finally, Yang Wei arrived back at the Wu family house.

"Huh?"

He saw Wu Shu and Wu Fengtian in conversation with a tall, muscular man.

He paused, giving them space to talk.

It didn't take long for Wu Fengtian to notice him and rush over. "Senior Brother, hey! How was the farm?!" he exclaid, waving.

Yang Wei nodded calmly and replied, "Uhm, it was fine. What's going on with Uncle? Who's he talking to?"

Wu Fengtian glanced back at his father and the man he was speaking with, then turned to Yang Wei and said, "Oh, that's Han Fu. He's one of the chiefs of security in the village."

Yang Wei raised an eyebrow. "Chief of security? What's he doing here? Is everything alright?"

"Well, I'm not sure if you've heard of these people, but it has to do with the White Serpent Sect."

"The White Serpent Sect? Isn't that a dual cultivation sect?"

Wu Fengtian looked surprised. "What? You know them?"

"Sowhat," Yang Wei admitted. "I t a few of their sect mbers back in Tiancheng City."

He was easily able to rember the na because Deng Rulan had said it more than once during the ti he was in Tiancheng City. Another reason was because of the way people, especially n, panicked and ran away the mont they heard the sect's na.

Wu Fengtian nodded thoughtfully. "Well, it's good that nothing bad happened. You're talent is vast, and most of the Linwu Kingdom has already heard about the Dragon Blossom Sect's Rising Star who is a man. As long as they don't know you by na and face, you're safe from them."

"Wait, we're supposed to be scared of them?"

Wu Fengtian chuckled. "Yes, we should be scared of them. It seems you don't know much about the White Serpent Sect like I thought I did."

"Tell more."

"The sect is a won-only group that abducts n and turns them into sex slaves for their dual cultivation purposes. That's been their principle since they were established about thirty years ago."

"So, what's a sect like that concerning chief of security for?"

There was a slightly grim look on Wu Fengtian's face. He sighed and said, "Because of the Thousand Monsters Forest, only guards are usually allowed to travel out to the Capital City since they're the ones with any fighting experience."

"Mhm, makes sense." Yang Wei nodded.

"So, as usual, they used the secret pathway to get to Tiancheng City and get so supplies for the village, on coming back, they got ambushed by the White Serpent Sect, and about eight n were abducted. Han Fu and a few others managed to escape, and he says these won identified themselves as White Serpent cultivators."

Rubbing his chin and nodding thoughtfully, Yang Wei replied, "But the n that were abducted don't have spirit roots, yes? So, why were they kidnapped?"

"I wish I knew," Wu Fengtian shrugged. "Sigh~ a lot of mothers will be devastated when they hear their sons have gone missing.."

Hmm, looks like a new opportunity has presented itself...
