Book 7: Chapter 132: Initiating peace talks
Three Magic Sedans that looked very luxurious pulled into Baberel City’s west gate. Then they slowly stopped in front of a fully ard Frestech Chamber of Comrce guard team.
The back door opened and the Candra Empire’s departnt of comrce’s chief Marquis Descartes ca out.
As soon as he ca out, there was a breeze that made Marquis Descartes not feel any cold at all, but rather it ward him a bit.
Marquis Descartes couldn’t help looking at the sky. He found that the sun was in the sky and the light it gave was bright, but not dazzling, warm, but not hot. It was the beginning of spring that had the weather that people felt most comfortable in.
It was already the end of April and it would be May in a few days. This kind of good weather was considered quite natural.
But with this warm and comfortable spring breeze, Marquis Descartes’ heart didn’t feel any warmth at all. Rather it was like winter couldn’t leave as there was a trace of coldness in his heart.
As the chief of the departnt of comrce for the continent’s strongest Candra Empire, he was leading a diplomatic mission to initiate peace talks this ti. How could he not feel a chill?
Marquis Descartes looked over at the other mbers of the diplomatic party and found that their faces weren’t cheerful at all. It could be seen that they were feeling as unhappy deep down as he was.
The powerful Candra Empire had only forced others to initiate peace talks with them, why had they ever initiated peace talks?
This ti, after half a month of discussion between the Candra Empire’s royal family and the senior ministers, they finally decided to drive peace talks with the Frestech Chamber of Comrce. This had stirred a large controversy in the Candra Empire and there were countless voices of opposition for this.
Almost everyone believed that initiating peace talks was a sign of weakness and was the greatest sha for the empire.
In the history of the Candra Empire, although there were a few tis where they had been forced to initiate peace talks, the other side was the Marlow Empire or another empire on the sa scale. So it wasn’t considered shaful to initiate peace talks in those situations, rather the Marlow Empire had initiated peace talks many more tis than the Candra Empire.
But this ti, the Candra Empire was initiating peace talks with the trivial Rudson Kingdom.
To be more precise, everyone was clear that the real other side was only a small company called the Frestech Chamber of Comrce!
Lowering their heads to a trivial company, how could the prideful Candra Empire people be happy?
However, the Candra Empire’s royal family and senior ministers had made a decision, which ant that the idea to initiate peace talks had reached a consensus with the upper strata.
At the sa ti, it ant that the upper strata had already lost confidence in fighting the Rudson Kingdom and the Frestech Chamber of Comrce’s armies, so they had no choice but to use these peace talks to temporarily stop the war.
Because one of the other side was the Frestech Chamber of Comrce, which was just a company, Marquis Descartes as the departnt of comrce’s chief was sent out as the leader of this diplomatic force, being in charge of the peace talks.
For an official who was in charge of comrce to be in charge of peace talks, this was the first ti that this had happened in the history of the Candra Empire or the entire Sines Continent.
Of course, being forced to this extent by a company’s guards was also the first ti for the Candra Empire and the Sines Continent.
Marquis Descartes looked over the fully ard Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards and couldn’t help secretly giving a sigh.
Even if people said that he knew nothing about military matters, just based on the equipnt that the guards had, he could tell that the Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards had far surpassed the Candra Empire army in terms of military equipnt.
The Candra Empire army soldiers mainly wore leather armour that collapsed with a single blow, or at best they wore half a set of proper armour. The swords that they had were made of iron and other than having so wooden shields, they didn’t have much else equipped.
The sparkling armour the Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards wore were definitely made from the steel alloys that they produced themselves. The weapons that they had weren’t the normal swords, but rather strange looking things that were said to fire small and powerful Magic Bullets.
These weapons nad the Magic Repeating Guns, not to ntion their might, it was said that their firing distance was over two hundred ters that surpassed most bows.
This ant that in a direct conflict, before the Candra Empire soldiers could even reach the Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards, they were all killed and completely routed.
Not to ntion those things that looked like steel pipes on the back of the Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards’ backs, they were a terrifying weapon nad the “Individual Magic Bazookas”.
Once these things were used, the Magic Rockets could even be shot a shocking five hundred ters!
Moreover, the might of these Magic Rockets were shocking, just a single round could create a giant crater in the ground. It was enough to destroy an entire Candra Empire army squad.
In a direct conflict, the Candra Empire soldiers had to first face the baptism of the Magic Rockets before facing the repeated fire from the Magic Repeating Guns before finally having hopes of facing the Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards with their swords.
Then because of the special armour the Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards wore, even if they didn’t activate their magic barriers, normal swords weren’t able to penetrate their powerful armour. They really couldn’t do any damage to these guards at all.
However, what made Marquis Descartes and the generals at the army headquarters face despair was that none of this had included the large amounts of Magic Cannons that the Frestech Chamber of Comrce had. Not to ntion the Magic Tanks nearby and the Magic Airships firing down from above.
If these things were added in, even without the Magic Rockets and the Magic Repeating Guns of the Frestech Chamber of Comrce guards, the Candra Empire soldiers weren’t even able to approach them.
This had been confird countless tis in battle already.
The army headquarter’s generals knew that they didn’t have a way to take care of them at all.
The emperor was also aware of this and also didn’t have a way to deal with them.
Before this, the emperor had initiated a special policy in the empire to entire warti managent, using the Candra Empire’s advantage in natural resources to slowly wear down the Frestech Chamber of Comrce.
But the Frestech Chamber of Comrce didn’t give the Candra Empire the chance to stall.
No one would have imagined that the Frestech Chamber of Comrce would work with the Rudson Kingdom army to invade the Candra Empire, using only two months to capture the southwest province.
Moreover, in this battle, the Candra Empire army couldn’t stop the Frestech Chamber of Comrce and Rudson Kingdom’s armies even with the help of the powerful Arch Magi.
This proved that the Candra Empire didn’t have the ability to stall at all.
So the emperor and the senior ministers had considered it and were forced to initiate peace talks with the Frestech Chamber of Comrce.
To put it bluntly, this was another tactic to delay.
The Candra Empire required a large amount of ti to let their military magic machine research catch up to the Frestech Chamber of Comrce, only then would they be able to fight the Frestech Chamber of Comrce.
Otherwise, if the Frestech Chamber of Comrce and Rudson Kingdom’s armies kept going further into the Candra Empire, then the Candra Empire wouldn’t be able to stop them at all. They could only watch as they swallowed the Candra Empire’s territory bit by bit, finally even taking down Wimbledon City.
The emperor and the senior ministers couldn’t allow such a thing to happen, so Marquis Descartes was sent.
The encouraging thing was that when the Candra Empire side requested the peace talks, the Rudson Kingdom and the Frestech Chamber of Comrce side had agreed to it. They didn’t strongly oppose it like many people had thought.
After all these thoughts crossed his mind, Marquis Descartes took a soft breath to calm the sadness and coldness in his heart. He revealed a warm smile and walked towards the group that had co to greet him.
“Marquis Descartes, welco to Baberel City.”
The one who ca to greet the diplomatic party was the Frestech Chamber of Comrce’s foreign affairs departnt manager, miss Sorel who was specially sent for these peace talks. When she saw the Marquis Descartes get out of the Magic Sedan, she ca with the Rudson Kingdom officials to greet them. It was clear that the one in charge was miss Sorel.
Whether it was the Candra Empire or the Rudson Kingdom, they knew in their hearts that whether it was in this war or the peace talks, the one in charge was the Frestech Chamber of Comrce.
“Miss Sorel, it’s been all these years and you’re still as beautiful. You’re just like a flower that’s in full bloom.” No matter what Marquis Descartes thought, his appearance was the good behaviour of a noble.
Miss Sorel had a completely different style. She just gave a simple nod to Marquis Descartes before giving an inviting gesture.
“Marquis Descartes, please co this way. Sir chairman is already waiting for you.”
“Oh? Chairman Xu is already here?” Marquis Descartes’ eyes twitched as he couldn’t help revealing a look of joy.
The one in charge of the peace talks was the Frestech Chamber of Comrce and the leader of the Frestech Chamber of Comrce was without a doubt chairman Xu.
For Xu Yi to personally co here, it was enough to show that the Frestech Chamber of Comrce attached great importance to these peace talks and were very sincere.
