Who says being evil is an easy thing?
The curtain on the stage slowly opened, and after the Quasits checked all the outsiders, the devils could enjoy their lives to the fullest. They most cherish valuable products that can enhance their abilities and status; when such needs can't be t, they turn to goods that provide sensory stimulation.
The most popular among them are the slaves brought from other worlds, those bound by contracts.
Bator Hell emphasizes contracts and oaths. Once violated, the force of the entire plane would fall upon the destroyer. No other supervision is needed, as long as your body remains in this world, it will bind you, and any struggle is futile. Many powerful spellcasters sign contracts with devils because they know devils are unlike other demons; they must abide by the agreents made. However, in Bator Hell, one must always be cautious with their tongue because a careless slip could bind one's life and property to a contract.
Lynch ordered a glass of water, his impeccable Abyss Language erasing all doubts from the waiter's eyes. "Or perhaps he's a guy from the sixth layer of Hell," the waiter thought, "only the devils there can't stand the temperature of the first layer and want ice to cool off."
This speculation about the mage's identity quickly reached the slave market managers' ears. They hadn't noticed how this mage sneaked in; in the blink of an eye, he appeared in the corner of the room. Although his mage robe looked tattered, with holes as nurous as the lumps on a Slaad's skin, the boss's eyes were on the magic wand in his hand, seeming to surge with mighty power.
"Satisfy his request," the Horror Demon boss ordered, "treat him as a distinguished guest."
Lynch gripped the ice water, the cold sensation in his hand gradually calming him down. The Desire Demon nad Eryies sat behind him, and the mage's neck could feel the whiffs of fragrance she exhaled, involuntarily reminding him of her lips. He placed the cup against his forehead, trying hard to focus — now was not the ti to fall into fantasies. He began organizing his thoughts, pondering over what he had done in the confusion.
"Agreed to help her with sothing, and I have the right to choose what that sothing is. This isn't really a problem and shouldn't harm ." But Lynch imdiately thought of another aspect: "If she doesn't specify any demands, it should count as her waiving her rights. But what if she makes a demand that I simply cannot fulfill?"
Thinking of this, the mage suddenly found the ice in the glass insufficient, as the hot weather seed to concentrate its energy on him, making him restless. "If she proposed sothing like 'go kill the King of the Nine Layers of Hell', I certainly couldn't agree, but this would also signify the start of the contract," Lynch analyzed, "In which case, I'll have to fulfill one of her demands. In this Bator World, if she dies, then I won't complete the contract, and I'd face the penalty for breach..."
Lynch crushed the glass in his hand, cold water trickling slowly through his fingers. Behind him, a giggle from the Desire Demon suggested that she knew the mage had realized the contract's trap.
Before Lynch could turn around, Eryies softly said, "I want you to wipe out all the Horror Demons in the Bronze Fortress within a day. Can you do it?"
"No!" the mage answered coldly. He stopped the Instant Death Spell in his hand because it was no longer the ti to attack her. The Desire Demon even knew Lynch's intent to kill and silence her inside out.
So devils were drawn by the commotion, but seeing the burning anger in the mage's eyes, they felt an inexplicable threat. In this world, caution is necessary even for the mighty Abyss Lords, who fear certain roles. Who knows what kind of formidable beings dare to co to the frontline of the Blood War, one might devour them whole, leaving not a bone shard behind. The devils redirected their gaze to another platform, where now so exotic relics from the "Grey Ruins" world were being auctioned.
