Lynch nodded, this situation was within his expectations. Finding an identity for Zilvra on the surface was indeed a difficult matter.
"This ti, the Dark Elf is your companion, and I trust your judgnt," said the Empress. "Your judgnt is very precise, even making the best Prophets envious. However, I must consider the will of the entire elf race. Providing Salantir’s protection to a Dark Elf is a precedent I cannot set. If she cos with you, we will welco her; but if she cos alone, it will still be a dangerous place. So you must continue to keep this secret."
"I understand what you an, Your Majesty. The opposition between elves and Dark Elves cannot vanish because of my words alone."
"Actually, I am very glad you have been honest with about everything, Mage. When you entered the Erutalon River, I already sensed the presence of the Dark Elf. This divinely blessed river reacts to potential dangers."
"So the lady already knew everything." Lynch raised his head, looking at the calm expression of the Elf Queen.
"In this matter, I cannot ignore the facts and claim that the elves are generously tolerant. Therefore, even as the Empress, I cannot satisfy your request, terribly sorry."
"No, Your Majesty, there’s no need to apologize," Lynch said. "Actually, I should be grateful for your honesty. For an elf to tolerate a Drow entering Salantir’s borders is already remarkable."
Empress Hernfurry looked up at the stars in the sky, her white robe seed like the moon itself and suddenly radiated a sacred light. Slowly, her feet left the ground, floating a few inches high in mid-air.
The wind in the "Secret Realm" suddenly stopped, everything beca still except for the floating Elf Queen.
"Her belonging is in the sky, a beautiful city, amid the blue sky and white clouds, free as a bird," the Elf Queen said as she returned to the ground, the light on her robe gradually fading. "Without the aid of the Space-Ti Marker, this is the limit of my foresight. The Dark Elf’s destination is not Salantir, I fear you must continue searching."
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Lynch said. "Exhausting your Heart Power to guide us, this is already the best gift."
"Go, child. On the very first day of your arrival, I disturbed your rest and shared these secretive and sorrowful matters. Now, go rest. Farewell, my friend."
Returning to the resting room, Lynch finally felt a hint of fatigue. The main thing was the weariness from not being able to find suitable protection for Zilvra. As he lifted the curtain, he found the Drow woman already awake, fully ard in front of Soka’s hammock.
"Where are you planning to go?" Lynch asked.
"No, I don’t intend to go anywhere." Zilvra breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the Mage. "Seeing you’re not here, and thinking about living here among the elves, I felt a bit scared."
"Rest assured, no one will harm you." Lynch walked to Zilvra’s side, "Neither I nor you can be hard by outside forces."
"I don’t know," Zilvra said. "I don’t know why this is so. Maybe the beauty of the Elf Kingdom has shocked my soul or broke so tightly strung chord in . I don’t know what’s going on with . Sotis, I even miss the feeling of hunting prey in the Underdark, that tense atmosphere and the sll of blood sohow relax . Here, I often feel at a loss. I... I suddenly don’t know who I am, nor understand why I ca here."
Lynch gazed at Zilvra, watching the Dark Elf tremble slightly. He said, "This is because you left that dark place, but your habits and mories want to drag you back. Like an addiction, it always tempts you in the deepest parts of your body and soul." Lynch said, "When I call you Zilvra, the past associated with that na binds your soul like chains, and truly breaking free is not easy."
"Why can you always rationally view everything?" Zilvra asked. "Although your words are logical, I keep telling myself the sa in my heart. But it has little effect. What should I do to truly escape all this?"
"Think more about why you left the underground, how that dark environnt hard you. In the sleepless nights filled with fear and doubt, what tortures did you endure, how much pain did you experience?" Lynch said, "Or, you can change your na, thoroughly discarding this Dark Elf mark?"
Zilvra shook her head: "Changing a na is just a self-deceptive act. If that’s the case, I would rather have you use a Spell to alter my mories so I can completely forget my past."
Lynch also shook his head: "mory-altering spells could likely damage your mind, even turning you into a madwoman." His voice suddenly softened, "You know, I would never do sothing that harms you."
Suddenly, the two of them stopped talking, standing face to face. Zilvra’s gaze focused on Soka on the bed beside her, the little angel’s round belly exposed, looking quite humorous. Lynch’s keen sight seed to drift towards the window for so reason, observing the drizzle outside. Did the Elf Queen know there would be a break between the two rainfalls, prompting her visit?
The silent atmosphere held for a while, and finally, their gazes reunited. Zilvra still could not read the thoughts of the Mage from Lynch’s constantly rotating pupils. At this ti, Lynch always appeared sowhat distant and hard to approach.
The Drow woman sighed softly.
The Mage stepped back half a step, his eyes returning to their usual state. He no longer needed to observe the Dark Elf before him with a vigilant gaze, erecting a thick yet invisible wall.
Zilvra’s silvery-white hair gently swayed in the night wind, bouncing as if it were alive. Lynch reached out, instinctively wanting to touch those white strands.
But instead, the Mage pulled Zilvra into an embrace.
The Drow woman seed startled, her muscles imdiately tensed, and her hands went to her sword hilts at her waist. But the familiar black robe pressed against her cheek, and a scent mixed with the aroma of strange dicinal herbs wafted over. As if under a spell, she relaxed, staying still, allowing the Mage to hold her.
Soka squinted her eyes, watching the scene from beneath long eyelashes. This was her first ti in disguise, doing sothing so "sneaky," causing her little heart to thump rapidly.
The light rain outside continued, elf songs resud. This ti, they were slowly speaking in distant voices, expressing their longing for tomorrow...
