Lynch slowly stood up, patted the gno boy’s head, then carefully put the candy into his pocket. He leaned on the railing, looking at his magic book lying on the ground tens of ters below. Several gnos were pointing at the book, possibly discussing the reasons it had flown there and the scientific principles it contained.
"Mister Mage, what’s wrong with you?" Moni’s voice sounded beside Lynch. "What happened? You’re not fully recovered yet."
A group of gnos, old and young, followed Moni. They looked at the one-ard mage with friendly eyes. An elder with exaggerated thick glasses walked up to Lynch: "Hello, young man, I am the chief chairman of the elder council of this city, Spider Cave. My na is Rhonda~Garick. Normally, my full na is too long, and the tall folks up on the ground don’t have the patience to rember my full na, so I won’t waste your ti. After all, ti is everything."
He adjusted the large fra of his glasses on the bridge of his nose: "If I’m not mistaken, your attire indicates that you are a mber of the Mage Association; based on the pattern, you should still be a mage apprentice." He paused: "But I see extraordinary power in you."
"Sir, your wisdom and experience have indeed given you eyes full of insight. My na is Lynch, a magic apprentice of the Mage Association. Once again, thank you and your companions for the help you provided during my injury."
"That was nothing; it’s what we should do. But I have a few questions to ask you. I hope you can enlighten us."
"Sure, I’m willing to be of service to you." Lynch straightened his robe, glanced at the little boy nad Xin Shi, nodded to him, and turned to leave.
Lynch followed the elder to the gno’s council hall and sat on a specially prepared wide bench. Facing 11 gno elders, he began to tell about the events that happened before he ca to the gno city.
Gnos live underground; compared to the troubles on the surface, they are more concerned with various engineering facilities. Moreover, harmless pranks are also an indispensable part of their life. They like to joke as much as they love complex machines, and they believe that the more interesting the prank, the more it reflects their intelligence. They are a carefree race, living independently and freely outside of other races, primarily interacting more with dwarves—the dwarves’ generous, cheerful, and enthusiastic nature particularly enjoys their jokes and pranks. Only a few gnos live on the surface; most of them are skilled gemstone craftsn, alchemists, so are even famous bards or beco explorers, and they are loved by the majority of races.
However, they also have enemies. They usually have considerable gemstone collections, and so very peculiar inventions. Additionally, the special gemstone "Flash Gold Stone," used on the continent to report ti, is also one of their featured products. These things, coupled with a culture inherently averse to combat, have attracted many evil onlookers. Yet heaven is fair; they possess the most inventive minds and the most dexterous hands on the continent. They protect their hos with various chanisms, traps, and disguises. Without a gno guide, it is impossible under normal circumstances to find the road to their city.
They live a semi-isolated life on the Anriel Continent. Free, independent, and full of joy.
However, they are not indifferent to the situations in other parts of the world. Gnos’ curiosity is not as intense as halflings, but they have great interest in the latest research, inventions, and novel tools from various places. They have a very good relationship with the Mage Association because both are groups keen on creation. So, thanks to this advantage, Lynch beca a good friend of theirs here.
The gno elders quietly listened to the mage recount the battle in Moon Harbor City, the southern invasion of the giants, and the potential threat to Holy Pate. The dwarves and the elf clan each have their own defense plans, but humans are relatively fighting alone.
Lynch knew clearly that no matter what he said, the gnos would not participate in this battle. Their life nature keeps them away from any battles. Moreover, in the mage’s heart, regardless of how the giants rampage in Holy Pate, it essentially has nothing to do with him. The Mage Association is absolutely capable of surviving any attack, so he doesn’t need to worry about the dangers faced by the academy. His sole reason for paying attention to this war is that his good partner got involved.
