"Littlefinger, who is he? Is he the Halfling you ntioned on the road, the one who arrived in the Underdark?" Deluo asked, seeing Lynch so excited for the first ti. The Dwarf had seen him like this once before—when the Mage regained his Magic Ability.
"Yes, he’s a good friend of mine who has helped us overco difficulties more than once." Lynch read the note again, "We have adventured together, facing countless difficult obstacles. He always hides his small figure in darkness and walks at the forefront of the team. Each ti, he’s the one who brings us news from the front. Each ti, he dismantles those dangerous and cleverly hidden traps. Every ti, he sneaks behind the enemy to launch attacks on those terrifying monsters from another direction all by himself."
"A brave Halfling!" Nimo remarked, "I’ve heard stories about Halflings too, but they’re always about their culinary skills and playful nature. They’re the best chefs and gardeners. It’s said their brewing skills are the finest. However, I’ve never heard of a brave Halfling warrior before."
"Don’t doubt, Nimo, in the course of adventure and travel, everyone gradually becos brave." The Mage wiped his eyes, removing tears, and smiled at the two of them. Ever since entering the Dark Elf City, Deluo and Nimo hadn’t seen such a heartfelt smile from the Mage for a long ti.
"Nimo, you’re actually a brave Dwarf too. You face monsters many tis your size with your crossbow. So of their teeth are even bigger than your height. If possible, their claws could easily pierce through your body, but you have never flinched or trembled with fear. You pick up your weapon and bravely face those dangers."
Nimo blushed, looking a bit embarrassed. He scratched his face to hide his awkwardness: "Actually, it’s because you all encourage and support from behind. I’m not like what you said."
"Oh! No!" Deluo slapped the Dwarf’s shoulder heavily: "You are the bravest Dwarf I’ve ever seen! There’s no doubt about it!"
"Hehe, although I’ve seen many passersby, you guys are undoubtedly the most excellent..."
But Stone-leg didn’t finish his sentence when the tavern’s door was violently smashed. The wood used to bar the door turned into splinters, scattering across the stone floor, making a clattering sound.
Lynch picked up his Magic Wand, cautiously watching the entrance. Deluo and Nimo also grabbed their weapons. Stone-leg Boss promptly hid behind the counter.
Two Dark Elves walked in, fully ard. The silver Chain Armor tightly wrapped around their slender bodies, fitting like a second skin. They each had two scimitars hanging at their waist, the black-painted, sheathless scimitars reflecting no light, absorbing the surrounding light and warmth like an endless Abyss. Nimo even felt the icy sensation of those blades on his neck. Just looking at those deadly weapons was enough to invoke fear, but recalling his friends’ words, the Dwarf stood courageously still.
"Advisor, the esteed Matron commands you to proceed imdiately to the family residence without delay." The voices of the two Drow Elves floated out from their throats, but Lynch always felt the sound ca from the inherent darkness they carried.
"Now? Imdiately?" Lynch saw the Family Emblem they wore, recognizing them as ssengers of the Berni family. It seed the operation to destroy the temple was about to begin, possibly in the next couple of days when the first family would move out in full force. However, the Mage, having just received a ssage from Littlefinger, was reluctant to help the Dark Elves fulfill that plan. He wanted to et his partners and friends.
But the fact was, the Mage had no choice but to leave with the two Dark Elves, as he was still not strong enough to oppose the most powerful family in Ratris City. Lynch thought for a mont and removed the Healing Ring from his right hand—Lynch had never figured out how the ring worked and thus couldn’t use the Magic Origin’s power to remold it. Now, the ring was actually more like a ti bomb for him. However, it could still serve as a token, which Littlefinger had seen before.
