Chapter 3545: They Didn’t Call at All
Editor: Atlas Studios
An hour later.
Nie Qingru’s car rolled over the fallen leaves as it drove into the Nie residence.
She called Nie Tao before coming. The living room was filled with both old and young, but the atmosphere was too heavy.
Everyone sat in their seats. They either had their heads lowered while drinking coffee or looked out the window. No one spoke.
Even the weak Old Master Nie made an appearance. He looked at everyone as he was wheeled into the living room by a Filipino maid.
“Dad.” Nie Tao went over to help the Filipino maid push the wheelchair to the center.
The other mbers also put down their miscellaneous tasks and looked at Old Master Nie, greeting him respectfully.
Old Master Nie did not look at anyone. His voice sounded tired as he asked, “Where’s Qingru? She hasn’t arrived yet?”
Nie Tao answered truthfully, “She called and said she’s on the way. She should be here soon.”
Old Master Nie stopped talking.
…
In fact, Nie Qingru had arrived outside the residence while they were talking.
Before entering, she received a call from the council mber on good terms with the Nie family. Just as she placed the phone to her ear, an anxious voice ca from the other end.
“Empress, I only agreed to help them because of you. In the end, things have turned out like this. The dia is clinging to and won’t let go. The higher-ups have already begun to investigate …”
There was no explicit bla in the other party’s words, but every word was accusatory.
Nie Qingru took a deep breath, and her pitch-black eyes revealed a hint of coldness. “Councilman Allen, you’re blaming .”
Afraid of her, Councilman Allen tried to smooth things over. “Your Majesty, you know that’s not what I ant. It’s just that this matter has blown up too much and the impact is too bad.
“The election is next month, and I still hope to participate. But if I can’t resolve this matter, I don’t even know how far my career as a senator can go…
“Do you understand my difficulties?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll give you an explanation.” Nie Qingru was smart and naturally understood the aning between the lines.
Councilman Allen was not at ease, but there was no better way. He could only believe she could handle this ss.
“Then I’ll have to trouble you, Empress.”
“It’s only right of .”
Nie Qingru hung up and put the phone down. She sat in silence for a long ti.
Shadow opened the door, and seeing her furious expression, asked softly, “Was it the councilman?”
Nie Qingru pressed a hand between her eyebrows as if she wanted to suppress her anger. “Heh. Up until now, the council mbers, the police, and the Privy Council have contacted . Only, they haven’t called to explain why they didn’t listen to ! They’re sure that I’ll clean up their ss for them. This is my good family!”
The Nies were such a hypocritical, scheming, and cold-blooded family.
As one of them, no matter how much she hated these people, she couldn’t get rid of her background and change the blood flowing in her veins.
Shadow was silent for a mont. “Did Qiao Nian do that at the police station?”
Nie Qingru’s frown deepened, and her tone was displeased. “Who else besides her?”
“I don’t think it’s her style.”
Qiao Nian was more direct.
She did not usually sche this much.
Nie Qingru dropped her hand and looked at him sharply as if examining his inner heart. After a mont, she looked away. “Even if it’s not her, it’s related to her.”
