Chapter 74: Chapter 74

"I love it, though," Sebastian said lightly after drinking a glass of water, ready for more. "I grew up with my grandma, who loves spicy food. So, I got used to it eventually. I like eating spicy food whenever I feel under the weather. It helps."

’This is so strange. How co this Sebastian and the Sebastian from my previous life are so different?’ Winter pondered, but the more she thought about it, the more confused she got.

But one thing is for sure.

This Sebastian definitely wasn’t the monster who broke her heart so completely that she gave up on life.

Sebastian saw the confusion in Winter’s eyes, and he understood why.

In their previous lives, he never told her he liked spicy food. He always refused to eat anything spicy that she made, but not because he hated it.

It was exactly because he knew it was too good. So he might crumble and give in to temptation, unable to continue his cold act in front of his wife.

Admittedly, he was weak for good food, and now he had fallen in love with her even more because of the spicy fried rice.

Sebastian grew up with his late grandma until he was six, when he was forced to immigrate from Spain to the United States, where he lived with his mom.

Though he only spent a few years with his late grandma, he still fondly rembered the spicy food she fed him.

So, Sebastian grew up having a tolerance for spicy food, even going as far as craving it, especially when he had a cold.

Now that he could start anew with Winter, he didn’t need to hide his preferences anymore, right?

The thought was soothing for him; even the spicy fried rice tasted a little sweet when he imagined her cooking for him every day. It was truly a blissful life.

’I will work hard to make it happen. I just hope she will never know about my real identity as the sa Sebastian from our previous lives. As long as she stays in the dark, we will be fine together.’

Sebastian finished everything and burped loudly after drinking another glass of cold water. He wiped his lips with a tissue and patted his belly. "Well, that’s a lot of carbs for

to burn tomorrow morning. But I’m very happy. Thank you for making my favorite food, wif—Winter. Please make more in the future, alright?"

Winter’s expression was terrible. She was confused, angry, and disappointed all at the sa ti. Sebastian gulped as he suddenly had an urge to vomit everything that he had just eaten, simply because he thought eating what she cooked for him was offensive.

"You are not going to win this, Sebastian."

"Huh, win what?" Sebastian feigned innocence, though he knew well what Winter ant. "Are we in so kind of competition?"

Winter slamd the table before getting up and returning to her room.

Sebastian watched her go and sighed in relief.

"I feel like I’m walking on thin ice. But as long as she doesn’t know the truth, we can start anew. I don’t need to worry about anything, right, Winter?"

Sebastian rose from his chair with a grunt. Walking was difficult because his stomach was full of rice. He returned to his room, brushed his teeth, and sat on the desk, preparing to call one of his friends who worked for his mom.

He had long known that his mom was a loan shark, a cruel one at that.

His friend, Mikhail, was forced to work under her because his father loaned a lot of money and failed to pay the interest. His father, a gambling addict, was inevitably killed by a casino mafia. Despite this, Camilla didn’t stop harassing the gambler addict’s son.

Camilla forced Mikhail to work as a secretary who managed all the ongoing loans, freeing her from the nial job while she was allowed to barely pay him a salary in the guise of paying back what Mikhail’s father owed.

In the end, Sebastian volunteered to cover Mikhail’s monthly salary until he had enough to live in New York.

Thus, Mikhail vowed his loyalty to Sebastian and worked as a mole for him. However, Sebastian had never used Mikhail’s role as a mole.

But this ti, he had to.

The first thing he needed to do if he wanted to dismantle his mother’s operations was to find the identity of the man who would be her new boyfriend so he could deal with that man as soon as possible.

Because that new boyfriend of hers was around Sebastian’s age and had replaced him as the CEO of Goldmine Realty.

Sebastian theorized, ’That ans he’s not from the streets. He must be well-educated and experienced enough to run a massive company.’

He didn’t know the na of that bastard. Back then, after he failed to run the company and went into seclusion while suffering from extre depression and suicidal thoughts following Winter’s death, his mother didn’t even try to console him or send him to a psychiatrist.

She ignored him, and Sebastian had no desire to speak with her, especially since she played a part in Winter’s death.

But that old bitch still betrayed him in the end by bringing her new boyfriend, who was thirty years old, a year younger than Sebastian.

They hugged and kissed in front of Sebastian, who looked haggard and depressed.

Then, Camilla said:

-

’You failed to show up in the office for months, Sebastian. So I replaced you with this man. He is my new boyfriend, and he’s thirty years old. His na is... oh, I don’t think you need his na. It’s not like you’ll ever et him again anyway,’ Camilla chuckled. ’We’re going now. Don’t get too sad, son. Now that bitch is dead, you can go sowhere far away. At least far enough so I won’t need to see you anymore.’

Camilla’s face turned cold as she delivered the sickening blow. ’You have no use to

now, Sebastian, and I never keep a useless son around . You can go and die with that bitch. You two should rot in hell.’
