Chapter 146: Epilogue: And Life Goes On
[Music Recomndation: Tessa - Waltz of Cecilia.]
The first year with baby Gabriel was rough. Winter insisted on not having a nanny to take care of her son, so she had always been busy trying to take care of her baby.
It didn’t help that baby Gabriel was very active. He was like a little devil who would cry over the slightest thing, and also would sohow mischievously poo or pee his diaper right after Winter or Sebastian changed it.
Sebastian was getting so busy with the ga project that he barely had ti to go ho. In fact, he had been going overseas often and had to video call with his wife and baby whenever he had free ti.
"I can’t wait to finish this project. It’s so exhausting," Sebastian said. "Maybe we should take a long vacation after I finish the project."
"Well, we can go on a long vacation when Gabriel is at least three years old. We cannot for the love of god, get a peaceful vacation when he’s still so young," Winter said as she massaged her temple as she was thinking of her one-year-old son. "Do you know what he did today? He coloured his teeth with crayons and then hid the crayons under the sofa. I was panicking because I thought he ate all of those crayons while I wasn’t looking!"
Sebastian laughed as he imagined his mischievous son grinning with red teeth in front of Winter.
"I’m sorry for that, Winter. I’ll make sure that you will get a much-needed rest during our vacation later," Sebastian said. "Where is Gabriel now? Is he sleeping?"
"Not yet, he’s playing with his Granny," Winter replied. "My Mom told
to nap first because I was exhausted."
"Are you sure that you don’t want a nanny? I don’t want you to get too tired..." Sebastian offered, and as usual, Winter refused.
"I complained about how tired I was, but that doesn’t an that I don’t like raising my baby," Winter said. "I just thought of sharing these with you because you’re my husband."
Sebastian smiled, his mood automatically got better after hearing that, "I’ll make sure that everything in the company goes smoothly, so we can get our big break, and then a long vacation sowhere. Where do you want to go? Asia? Europe?"
"Mm, Spain," Winter replied.
"Spain?" Sebastian raised his brow. "I thought you’d say Greece."
"I want to visit your childhood ho and also Grandma’s grave, since she was the one who raised you there," Winter replied. "We can go to Greece after that, maybe go to Mykonos or Santorini? I’d love to visit both."
Sebastian didn’t expect Winter to want to visit those two places he buried deep in his mind. He thought it would be painful to revisit a beautiful dream that was shattered right in front of his eyes, so he rarely ntioned his hotown or his grandma to his wife.
But now that he had a wife and a child, it seed visiting his old ho wouldn’t be so painful anymore, right?
"Okay, let’s go and visit my childhood ho."

[Two years later.]
"And we are here," Sebastian said as he unlocked the door of an old house in the middle of Valencia’s suburb.
Winter entered the house, following Sebastian who was holding their three-year-old son. She looked around and realized that everything was still well taken care of despite the ho being uninhabited for so long.
"Did you pay soone to clean the house?" Winter asked.
"Yes, this is my grandma’s ho with all of her mories. I don’t want it to disappear just because the owner died long ago," Sebastian said.
"Papa, who is that?" Gabriel asked while pointing at a dium-sized photo fra of Sebastian’s grandmother carrying the three-year-old him. "He looks like !"
Sebastian chuckled, "That’s your grandma from Papa’s side. Just like Granny Gina is from Mama’s side," Sebastian explained, intentionally emitting Camilla out of the picture. "You can call her Granny Maria."
"Granny Maria..." Gabriel muttered. "Can we... uhm... et her?"
"Of course, we can," Sebastian said. "We will visit her soon. Don’t worry."
Winter saw many pictures of little Sebastian in this house, but none of Camilla’s. So she whispered to her husband, "How co I see no picture of her?"
"Because even my grandma doesn’t like her daughter. After all, she abandoned
when I was a baby and left to chase whatever dream she has in the U.S.," Sebastian replied. "I only lived here for six years and only started rembering things when I was four. But I have no bad mories with my grandma. She is the true mother figure that I have."
Winter stared at the picture of an old lady sitting on a wicker chair with toddler Sebastian sitting on her lap. She smiled at the cara, and she could see the kindness emitting just from the picture.
’Thank you for raising him right, Maria. You are the only one who gave him good mories to cling to,’ Winter said in her heart.

They visited Maria’s grave after that, and Gabriel innocently asked, "Did Granny Maria also go to heaven like Uncle Aiden?"
"Yes, they are in heaven right now," Sebastian replied while cleaning the grave of dried leaves while Gabriel began wiping the ceramic tombstone with a kerchief.
"Granny Maria, I hope you are happy in heaven!" Gabriel said. "Um... don’t forget to co while I’m sleeping, like Uncle Aiden!"
Winter and Sebastian looked at each other in a tacit understanding, as Gabriel told them many tis that Uncle Aiden often visited him while he was asleep.
Gabriel started muttering Aiden’s na when he was one year old and said that Uncle Aiden often ca for a visit.
Winter didn’t know if it was just a child’s imagination, but knowing how kind Aiden was, Winter chose to believe that his spirit must’ve lingered and accompanied his nephew.
**
They went to the park near Sebastian’s childhood ho. He said that he often spent his morning in this beautiful park, playing, running around, and even climbing trees while his grandma would sit on a bench and watch him from afar.
And now, Winter sat on the sa bench while waiting for Sebastian and Gabriel who went for an ice cream sowhere.
She stared at the beautiful lake in front of her, while the gentle wind of sumr caressed her hair gently. She took a deep breath as she let everything sink in.
She was reminded of Aiden, but not for the sa reason as she was reminded of him years ago.

’It’s been almost five years since your death, Aiden. I didn’t know that I would live so long, since I thought my life would end by the ti yours ended.
’But here I am, living my best life with your half-brother as my husband, and a son that has beco your nephew.’
’It’s hard for —and him as well. We went through betrayal, death, and tornt before we could be together, and I thought I would never be able to love him the sa way I did for you.’
’But again, I was wrong. I love that man so much, I can’t imagine a life without him and our son now.’
’Does that an I’ve moved on from you? Honestly, I don’t know either. The mory of you is still deep inside my heart, and I will never be able to forget you.’
’But life goes on, and I have to keep moving eventually.’
’Aiden, I hope you are happy in heaven right now. Please wait until all of us can reunite as a family once more. But for now, I’m happy to have a second chance with my second husband.’
’Goodbye for now, Aiden Kirk.’

"Ma! Mama!"
Winter snapped out of her daze when she heard her son calling her from behind.
She turned around and saw Sebastian carrying Gabriel in his arms. He smiled at her, while Gabriel was waving his hand excitedly and yelled, "Let’s go ho, Mama!"
