Chapter 142: Chapter 142

Winter finally arrived at the office about an hour later, which was quite fast since the traffic was horrible today.

She told Arthur to wait sowhere as she texted Iris about Sebastian and Lucien’s whereabouts. After she got the answer, she used the elevator and went up to the seventh floor where the eting was held.

"Winter! Oh, god! You’re actually here!" Iris exclaid in relief, but soon asked with a concerned expression, "Is it really okay for you to show up now? I’m afraid it will only add fuel to the fire between them. Sebastian and Lucien had been arguing nonstop inside the eting room. It seems that Mr. LeBlanc is intentionally nitpicking everything."

"Is that so?" Winter didn’t react much, as if she had fully expected that situation. "Well, let

talk to them. This ga project is crucial after all."

*

Sebastian was about to explode right now.

He sat directly in front of Lucien LeBlanc for the ga project’s building plan, but Lucien would nitpick every single thing he said, to the point that he would even nitpick Sebastian’s tone for being ’unkind’ to the client.

If only this bastard was not the client for this ga project, he’d beat him to a pulp!

Unfortunately, his love for Winter far outweighed his rage for this bastard. He didn’t want to disappoint her, so he kept his cool and continued explaining the developnt plan.

"I don’t like any of this," Lucien comnted.

"Which part of the developnt plan you don’t like, Mr. LeBlanc? My team will revise it."

"Hmm, I can’t pinpoint it. I just don’t like it," Lucien smirked as he just wanted to make fun of this guy.

Honestly, if he was speaking as a professional, the developnt plan that Sebastian had was perfect. It was so good that Lucien got a little mad.

Thus, he was nitpicking to ss with him.

After all, he got insider information that Sebastian and Winter’s relationship was warming up after this man put his own mother in jail.

Lucien thought it was cruel and manipulative.

"You—!"

Click.

The door was opened, and Sebastian darted his eyes at the door.

"W-Winter—?!"

"Huh? Winter?" Lucien turned his head, and his eyes brightened seeing the beauty who wore a purple-colored dress. He got up and walked towards Winter before Sebastian could reach her. Lucien grabbed her hand and kissed it while making eye contact. "It’s been a while since I t you, Winter. You look prettier every ti we et."

Sebastian separated Lucien’s hand from his wife’s and acted as a barrier between them, "I will send the developnt plan to your secretary, Mr. LeBlanc. You can revise it however you want. I think we are done with our eting today."

Lucien snorted.

He ignored Sebastian and tilted his head to look at Winter who stood still with her usual aloof expression, "Can you believe what he said just now? I still want this eting to go on because there are a lot of revisions, but he is trying to end it quickly. It’s very unprofessional."

"Then, we should continue the eting," Winter thoughtfully said.

"No, Winter, I’ve already explained everything to him. He’s just nitpicking," Sebastian reported.

"Then let’s hear the plan once more. I’m going to stay. I want to know which one doesn’t suit Mr. LeBlanc’s preference," Winter insisted, and thus the eting was resud.

Winter sat next to Sebastian, and Lucien sat directly facing them.

Sebastian explained the developnt plan once again, and Lucien didn’t nitpick this ti. Instead, his eyes were glued on Winter the whole ti, as if he had been fully smitten by her.

Sebastian explained faster and once he was done, he asked, "Is there anything not to your liking, Mr. LeBlanc?"

"Yes, I wonder if the woman next to you knows that you have jailed your own mother," Lucien responded calmly. "It’s my first ti hearing a man reporting his own mother. It makes

wonder if he will also do the sa to his wife once he doesn’t like her anymore."

"YOU—!"

"Calm down, Seb," Winter interrupted before Sebastian exploded. She stared at Lucien with a nonchalant gaze and said, "To answer your question, yes, I know about it. In fact, I am the one who told Sebastian to jail her mother if he wants to have a chance with ."

Lucien paused for a mont as he tried to process what he just heard, "You... Winter, you don’t need to cover up for his cri."

"I’m not covering up anything. I hate my mother-in-law more than anything in this world, and I think she deserves to rot in jail," Winter added. "I’m a very selfish woman, I don’t like my husband to share his affection with soone else, even his mother. So, if you think that you have a shot with , will you sacrifice soone closest to you, either your mother or soone else so you have your undivided attention only for , Lucien?"

Lucien’s jaw dropped. He stared at Winter in silence, hoping that Winter would suddenly break out of character and say that she was just joking.

But she looked dead serious, and he was actually spooked by her cold expression.

He really liked Winter because she was a total beauty, and she also had that sweet and mature character befitting of a good and educated woman. She was honestly a perfect fit for Lucien.

But he would never sacrifice soone else, especially his other family mbers for a crazy woman.

Winter scoffed, "Thought so. If you have nothing to talk about, why don’t we focus on our business. I’m sure that the developnt plan my husband has is perfect in any way."

...

The eting went smoothly after that, and it didn’t take long for Lucien to leave the eting room.

Winter sighed as she was finally alone with Sebastian, "He’s really annoying. But he’s still the key to our company’s growth spurt."

"Winter, you don’t need to lie just to stop Lucien from nitpicking," Sebastian said. "You’re not the one to bla for what happened."

"Lie? Where’s the lie?" Winter frowned. "What I said is correct. I don’t want your mother to ruin our marriage. So I told you to get her out of my sight first."
