Chapter 127: Chapter 127
"... impressive," Winter muttered as she had to admit that Sebastian was very useful here. However, she still didn’t want to lower her guard, because she was scared that Sebastian would take this chance to soften her cold heart. "Well, since you have nothing to do with her, then I’ll go back to my apartnt. Do your work in the office and we can discuss our divorce once the Goldmine Realty has been stabilized."
Sebastian’s lips thinned. He had a lot to say, and most importantly, he wanted Winter to stay, so they could have a proper conversation after that disastrous night.
"If you have sothing to say, then say it. I don’t have much ti. I’m exhausted today," Winter said.
Sebastian gritted his teeth before he took a deep breath to calm down and asked, "What... What would you do after our divorce? Are you going to date soone else after that?"
"Date? Pffft—!" Winter tried to hold her laugh, but finally let go in the end and laughed rambunctiously. She found the question to be funny and utterly ridiculous. "Do you think after what happened between us in the previous life, I’ll still have the energy to date soone else? I think I’d have to get myself checked by a psychiatrist for a lifeti, so I won’t ever think about finding love anymore. You traumatized
so much, Sebastian."
Sebastian knew it was an utterly foolish question. Yet, he couldn’t help it because he realized that he wasn’t as selfless as he thought.
He told himself everything would be fine as long as Winter would be happy, even without him.
But he still wanted to try to win her back.
"Then, can I—"
"I don’t want to talk about it," Winter interrupted imdiately. "Whether I can give you a chance or not, it all depends on your performance at work. So just focus on that, and we can get this over with."
Sebastian lowered his head, but he was holding his smile. Though Winter was still cold towards him, he still had the chance to win her back, eventually.
’Even if it will take a lifeti for
to do it.’
Winter got up from the sofa and said, "I will have to leave now since my mother is alone in the penthouse. Rember, Sebastian Saenz, I’m fair with my judgnt, as long as you are useful, then I might take you back."
"I will do my best. Just tell
if you need anything, Winter," Sebastian said.
Winter ignored him, she simply walked out of Sebastian’s apartnt despite noticing his longing gaze.
Once Winter left his apartnt, the smile on Sebastian’s face blood. He knew that he was being used as a tool by Winter, not as a husband, lover, or even a friend.
But he was happy as long as Winter wouldn’t abandon him.
"So what if she sees
as a re tool? My mother also sees
as a tool. I’d rather be used by the one I truly love," Sebastian said.
He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t sad. But he had grown accustod to the idea that he would never truly love because he had been conditioned as a tool for every woman in his life.
"As long as I can be with you, Winter."
**
anwhile, Winter returned to her penthouse with an aching heart. She didn’t know why she was in distress seeing how desperate Sebastian was to win her back.
But his pleading made her weak, and she hated it.
’Why do I have to pity him? He has done nothing but hurt
in our previous lives. Is it because I didn’t know about his real identity before?’ Winter pondered as she took her dress off and went to take a hot shower. She allowed the hot water to wash the guilt out of her body, but the mont she lay on the bed to sleep, she was reminded of that bastard again.
She stared at the ceiling, and murmured, "Forgiving you takes a long ti, Sebastian. Even if I can do it in the end, the pain still lingers, and I don’t think I can fully fall in love with you again."
Winter closed her eyes, feeling the constant ache in her heart.
"Why can’t you be kinder to
in our previous lives?"
**
Winter cooked breakfast for her and her mother. She had called a caregiver. Thus, once everything was settled, she told her mom that she was leaving for work.
She t with Arthur at the basent parking lot, and once they left the basent parking lot, he asked, "Where do you want to go today, Madam?"
Winter grinned and said, "Since I’ve promised Isabella and the others that I will pay for their debt, then let’s go to Camilla’s office."
"I don’t think that’s a good idea, Madam," Arthur comnted. "She is a dangerous woman. Who knows what will happen once we’re there? How about I am the one who handles it myself?"
"No need. Don’t worry, she won’t do anything, especially since what happened last night," Winter said. "But to be safe, you should follow
into the building."
Arthur knew that his Madam was adamant about it, thus he nodded and drove to the location that Winter ntioned.
**
Camilla was exhausted today. She spent the entire night in the police departnt, listening to that crazy bitch saying that she was the one who told her to kill her mother.
Of course, Camilla stayed silent, just like what Officer Carter told her to do. But she was also angry because she seed to have overestimated Cindy.
She knew that woman was a total idiot, but she didn’t expect her to be so utterly childish and incompetent that she would drag her into the police station without showing any result.
Thus, Camilla intended to stay at the ho that Winter bought for the ti being because she was tired.
However, just when she was about to make a coffee, she got a sudden phone call from her office.
"Huh, strange. What are they doing calling
so early?" Camilla complained. But she still picked up the call and asked.
—
"What is it?"
"Madam, there is a woman who cos to the office just now. She said that she would pay all of the loans from those who worked in the Goldmine Realty before. She also told
that she will be waiting until your arrival before paying!"
Camilla beca tense instantly.
"Did she tell you her na?"
"Yes! Her na is Winter, she told
that she is your daughter-in-law!"
Beep.
—
Camilla hung up quickly and rushed in a hurry to her office. She didn’t know what Winter wanted, but she couldn’t allow an enemy to stay in her office without supervision.
*
Winter had been waiting for a while, with Arthur standing behind her chair. She maintained a smile on her face, and her smile widened when the door was opened and Camilla entered the room in a hurry.
Winter turned her head and made eye contact with Camilla, then said, "The boss is finally here. I thought I would have to leave and return after lunch, but I guess, you wouldn’t miss the chance of getting your money back, right?’
Camilla was catching her breath as she rushed into her office, afraid that Winter would take a few secret docunts in her stash that could ruin her life.
But seeing her sitting prettily on the chair, Camilla finally cald down a little.
"What do you want, Winter?" Camilla asked.
"I co here to pay for all the loans your moles owe," Winter replied. "Do you think I don’t know that you have many moles in my company? Well, I make sure that they all leave, so you can’t just snoop around to know what is happening in Goldmine Realty."
Camilla was about to deny it at first, but after seeing the unwavering coldness in Winter’s eyes, she realized there was no point in hiding sothing.
Thus, Camilla walked to her seat and faced Winter who sat at the other end of the table.
"Ho? I don’t know that you’re so kind to them, Winter," Camilla sneered. "If you have the money, then sure. But do you know how much they owe ?"
"Oh, I sure do. That’s why I can gather them all and tell them to leave," Winter smiled. "However, I will only pay for their main debt, not the nonsensical amount of interest you put on them. We both know that you’re a ruthless loan shark, Camilla Saenz."
"Oh no, I’m afraid that I cannot let that happen. You still have to pay the interest if you want to set them free," Camilla sneered. "Or else, I’ll have to ask them to do another monthly installnt to pay back the interest."
"I’m afraid you can’t do that. I’ve told them to leave New York as soon as possible and give them enough money to get out of the city. You can hunt them all across Arica, and I’m sure you will never find them anymore," Winter’s smile turned sinister as she added, "I’m paying you back because I’m being fair, but if you don’t want the money, then I can just leave. I have nothing to do with them the mont they leave my company."
