Chapter 124: Chapter 124
Winter froze on the spot when she saw the sharp knife aid at her chest. But before the tip touched her chest, a strong hand quickly held Cindy’s wrist and dislocated her wrist on the spot.
Crack!
"Ack!" Cindy was forced to drop the knife imdiately before she could do any harm. She quickly lost her balance as she was enduring so much pain in her wrist, but the man behind her lifted her effortlessly and asked Winter.
"Are you alright, Madam?"
It took a few more seconds for Winter and Gina to process what happened just now. Winter paled instantly and she quickly got up from the chair and drew near her mother to distance herself from Cindy.
"What’s wrong with you, Cindy?!" Gina yelled. "Oh God, you almost killed your sister!"
Cindy knew that she had already blown her chance. So she didn’t even try to hide her hostility anymore.
"Hah! Isn’t it obvious that I want to kill her? That whore doesn’t deserve to have a good life while I suffer in this diocre life!" Cindy yelled.
"Cindy! Oh god, she is your sister! She did so much for you!"
"And don’t think that you are safe, you hag! I will fucking kill you after I’m done with that whore!’
"Madam," Arthur who had been holding Cindy the whole ti finally couldn’t take it anymore when this woman kept on disrespecting his Madam. "What should we do with her?"
Winter was regulating her breaths as she was still trying to calm down. She stared at her rabid sister and her gaze grew colder for each second passed.
She knew that Cindy wouldn’t do this without being incentivized by soone else. Thus she said, "What should we do? Send her to jail for assault, of course."
Cindy’s eyes widened and the anger in her eyes started to dissipate as she realized that Winter was serious, "Y-You can’t send
to jail! How could you send your little sister to jail!?"
"I don’t have soone who wants to murder
as a sister," Winter rebuked.
"But you’re just fine now! You can’t put
in jail!"
"We have enough witnesses to testify against you in court," Winter said. "Do you think with my money, I can’t hire the most expensive prosecutor to make sure that you will rot in jail?"
Cindy began to get intimidated because of the threat.
She hadn’t thought that far because she was blinded with rage and jealousy, and triggered by the idea of having a good life with Sebastian Saenz.
But now that she realized what she was doing, she knew that she had to beg in order not to be imprisoned.
Winter’s eyes were frigid, so Cindy knew there was no hope for her.
Thus, she turned towards her old mother who was still staring at her in disbelief. She began to squeeze as many tears as possible and whimpered "Mom, I’m sorry, I don’t know what I am doing. I didn’t an to hurt Winter!"
...
Gina said nothing, but she kept staring at Cindy with doubt in her heart.
"You believe in , right, Mom? Please tell Winter that I didn’t an it, and she shouldn’t press charges! We are family and family shouldn’t harm each other!"
...
Gina still didn’t answer any of Cindy’s pleas, and Winter began to worry that her old, but soft-hearted mother would weaken when facing the crying Cindy.
Winter wanted to tell her mother that Cindy wasn’t worth her ti anymore, but Gina opened her mouth first;
"Who are you?" Gina asked while looking at Cindy strangely.
"W-what are you saying, Mom? It’s , Cindy!" Cindy said. "Have you gone senile by now that you don’t even rember your daughter?"
"I know I have a daughter nad Cindy, but you are not her," Gina said. "She is a kind woman who takes care of
and the house. She is smart and sweet, and also knows how to be grateful for what we have right now."
"That’s ! I am Cindy!"
"You are not her. Even if you have the sa face, the sa voice, and the sa expression, she would never do sothing like this," Gina said as she looked away and added, "You are not my daughter."
Cindy went pale as Gina was looking away, trying to dodge her eyes. She was already trying her best to squeeze out tears, but now that it didn’t work anymore, she lost all of her composure and began yelling like a madwoman, cursing Winter and Gina nonstop.
She also tried to struggle to break free from Arthur. Unfortunately, she was no match against a trained soldier and thus was quickly tied up in a chair while Winter was calling the police.
"The police will be here soon," Winter said. "And you won’t be able to escape anymore."
Cindy almost lost her mind as she was scared of what would happen to her next, so she began to beg, "This is not my idea, sis! I was just following instructions!"
"Oh? Instructions you say?" Winter had long guessed it, but she wanted to get more information from Cindy. She glanced at Arthur as a signal to record everything. "Then, if you are being honest with , I might actually tell the cops that it’s just a misunderstanding, so you’d be let go, you know."
"R-really?"
"Have I ever lied to you?" Winter asked back.
Cindy was thinking for a mont before she shook her head.
"See? You should be honest, so the cops can arrest the right person instead."
Cindy was sad that she had to betray her future mother-in-law like this. But facing the idea of prison was more than enough for her to discard anything as long as she wouldn’t get jailed.
"It was Camilla, your mother-in-law!" Cindy said.
"My... mother-in-law?"
"Yes! She told
that you are a ruthless woman, and that’s why Sebastian likes you, so I have to do sothing ruthless as well to be accepted by Sebastian. She told
to kill Mom!" Cindy reported without trying to hide anything.
"Do you have any proof that she said that?"
"W-well, no, it was all on call..." Cindy replied.
...
Winter sighed.
Camilla knew what she was doing. She didn’t leave a ssage because it would be incriminating evidence to be used in court later.
But she didn’t expect Camilla to get her grubby hands on Cindy. No wonder Cindy suddenly acted so strange. She might have so bitterness in life, but Cindy used to be more mature than this.
’Camilla must’ve manipulated her into thinking that she deserves to marry the rich, thinking it would give her a good life. Hah, if only she knows the pain I’ve experienced before.’
Cindy thought that she was finally pardoned, so she asked, "O-okay since I’ve told you everything, can you let
go this ti? I swear I will be a good sister again."
"Well, we have to wait until the police co first," Winter said.
"What?! You said that you’d let
go once I told you everything!" Cindy snarled. "You’re a fucking liar!"
"Of course, I’m a liar. I can’t get that information out of you if I’m being so kind and honest, right?" Winter chuckled. "Don’t worry, all you need to do is tell the police about what Camilla told you, and they will let you off."
"R-really?"
"Mm, I an, you’ll be safe with the police anyway, so Camilla won’t be able to get her hands on you this ti," Winter said. She didn’t even try to tell Cindy about the bitter fact that Camilla had been closely working with the police.
She kept on bribing them so her loan shark business would go smoothly in New York.
Winter doubted that the cops would simply let Cindy off, but they also wouldn’t charge her with a serious cri, because nobody was hard.
Cindy would probably be under house arrest or so sort and under constant watch for the assault she did, and also her testimony for Camilla’s involvent.
’In the end, I still can’t do much against Camilla for now. I still have to wait for Sebastian’s report for her cris, so we can process them all,’ Winter thought.
As she was thinking of a way to bring Camilla down, she heard the police car’s siren outside.
Arthur opened the door for them and they stord in.
Cindy went pale instantly when she was carried away by the police. She pleaded to Winter for the last ti, staring at her with the hope that Winter would help her.
But Winter simply shrugged and said, "Don’t worry about it, Cindy. At most, you’d be under house arrest, since I don’t get hurt at all. Just make sure that you’re honest, got it?"
"W-will you help
once I’ve been released? Sis, please help , I don’t know how to get a job if I have a criminal record!"
"Oh, I will make sure to always support you," Winter smiled. "As long as you’re willing to listen to , of course."
