Liu Zhiyue never liked crowded and noisy events, and the school’s annual sports et was no exception.

Lining up in formation, marching past the school leaders one class at a ti, then sitting through a dull opening ceremony—there was nothing exciting about it.

And the competitions? Just running, jumping, or throwing things around…

What was the point?

For class honor? Or maybe…

“You! You’re the tallest in the class!”

A strong arm pointed straight at the most conspicuous person in the room.

The PE teacher’s loud voice echoed across the field, drawing everyone’s attention to Liu Zhiyue, who had been staring at the ground.

Snapped out of his daze, he lifted his head and was imdiately t with a sea of eyes staring at him.

For a mont, he had no idea what was happening.

The PE teacher strode over and patted his shoulder, nodding approvingly.

“Not bad. Strong build, long legs… You’re a natural athlete.”

“Huh?”

Liu Zhiyue looked at the PE teacher, dumbfounded, as a bad feeling crept up inside him.

“Teacher… You’re not asking to participate, are you?”

“Are you better at long-distance running or sprints?”

“…”

“Well then…”

Seeing Liu Zhiyue remain silent, the PE teacher grabbed his arm and dragged him onto the track.

Releasing him, he gestured forward and said,

“Run a bit so I can see. Then I’ll assign you an event.”

“…”

Liu Zhiyue stood in silence, feeling like sothing was terribly wrong.

Why did the thing he dreaded most have to happen?

Dad! I don’t want to participate!

“Achoo!”

Liu Changqing let out a loud sneeze, startling An Yuanyao, who was resting against the headboard. Her body instinctively shivered, and the book in her hands slipped onto the floor.

Sniffing, Liu Changqing glanced at the air conditioner and muttered,

“Maybe the temperature’s too low…”

“Changqing… help pick that up.”

An Yuanyao’s soft voice called out from the bed.

Hearing her, Liu Changqing got up from his desk, picked up the fallen book, and placed it back in her hands.

Taking the book, An Yuanyao looked at him with slight concern.

“Is it too cold? If you’re feeling chilly, you can turn it off.”

“If I turn it off, it’ll get stuffy in here. Let’s just leave it.”

With that, Liu Changqing returned to his seat, fingers tapping away on the keyboard.

An Yuanyao, still leaning against the bed, peeked at him over her book and smiled before returning to her reading.

After coming back from the hospital, Liu Changqing didn’t go to the office. Instead, he called Feng Qian to arrange follow-ups for his work.

Then, he sat down at his computer and said he was going to finish his novel today.

Battle Through the Heavens—it had been a long ti since An Yuanyao last read it.

At first, she found it interesting and imrsive, even spotting traces of Liu Changqing in the protagonist.

But then…

One female character after another kept showing up.

The childhood friend, the genius pharmacist, Queen dusa, the auction house lady, the enslaved girl, the rival’s daughter, the hidden clan disciple in training…

The list went on and on, and An Yuanyao’s head started to hurt.

She even wondered if Liu Changqing was actually as much of a playboy as his novel suggested.

But after spending ti with him, her doubts faded.

It beca clear—fiction was fiction, reality was reality.

A novel was just a fantasy, while Liu Changqing was a real person, with real thoughts and real emotions. He wasn’t the type to surround himself with won.

More importantly… he treated her very well.

Thinking back to how he had carried her upstairs from the hospital, a sweet smile crept onto An Yuanyao’s face.

She barely had the mind to read anymore.

Tap tap tap tap tap… TAP TAP!!

With a final press of the keyboard, Liu Changqing typed the words: [The End].

At that mont, he felt an unexpected enlightennt.

As if, by concluding Battle Through the Heavens, he himself had been set free.

No more late-night writing sessions after work.

No more sneaking in writing during office hours.

Honestly, his version of Battle Through the Heavens had deviated so far from the original that the protagonist had practically turned into a bulldozer, sweeping through every female character he encountered.

So readers were so frustrated that they left comnts threatening to send him razor blades!

Liu Changqing never took such comnts seriously. If people actually sent him anything, he’d sue the platform first thing.

How could they know his address, anyway? If anything happened, the website wouldn’t be able to escape liability.

After uploading the final chapter, Liu Changqing let out a deep sigh.

“Finally done.”

“What’s done?”

An Yuanyao, hearing him speak, looked at him in confusion.

Liu Changqing swiveled his chair to face her.

“Battle Through the Heavens. It’s finished.”

“…”

An Yuanyao froze for a mont before breaking into a smile.

“It should’ve ended sooner! That protagonist… Ugh, he was getting so annoying. You should’ve wrapped it up a long ti ago. Just… don’t write that kind of character again for your next book.”

“There won’t be a next book.”

Liu Changqing stood up, walked over to the bed, and sat beside her.

Taking the book from her hands, he set it aside, then gently held her hand, looking into her eyes.

“Work at the company is already keeping busy. If I keep writing, I won’t have ti to spend with you.”

The mont those words entered An Yuanyao’s ears, her heart started beating faster.

He wasn’t just saying that—he truly ant it.

This man before her… had been through hardships.

She was soone who didn’t ask for much.

All she needed was to be in his heart, to have his presence beside her. That was enough.

Liu Changqing didn’t want to see her sad.

From the mont they confird their relationship, he had made up his mind.

He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, supporting each other, walking side by side.
