The atmosphere was a little awkward.

In the end, the situation was resolved with a simple decision—as compensation for the mix-up, their al was on the house.

Liu Changqing ended up with two surprises.

The first was the free al.

The second was…

An Yuanyao, her face flushed, had hidden behind him like a shy ostrich after realizing that others had witnessed her bold move.

Yet, despite her embarrassnt, she refused to let go of his arm.

Having lived two lives, this was the first ti Liu Changqing had ever said sothing like that to soone. He had to admit—this woman, An Yuanyao, had so skills.

He wasn’t the type to make promises easily.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone out of his way to avoid her so many tis before.

But now that things had co to this, he had no intention of running anymore. Since there was no avoiding it, he would face it head-on.

After the manager left with the three waitresses—who took both the flowers and the cake with them—An Yuanyao finally stepped out from behind Liu Changqing.

She clung tightly to his arm, pressing herself against him.

The flowers had been taken away.

The cake wasn’t hers.

Neither was the bouquet.

Liu Changqing noticed her reaction and tilted his head slightly, glancing down at her gaze, which was fixed on the door.

After thinking for a mont, he asked in a testing tone,

“Do you prefer cake or roses?”

“Flowers…”

The word slipped out before she realized it.

Catching herself, An Yuanyao quickly turned to Liu Changqing, her expression carrying a hint of accusation as if blaming him for teasing her.

She tightened her grip on his arm.

“You always trick into saying things!”

“Heaven as my witness, I wasn’t trying to trick you. You were staring so hard at those flowers when they took them away—you practically looked srized.”

Liu Changqing chuckled as he spoke.

“Let’s eat first. Afterward, I’ll take you to a flower shop. As for cake… how about tomorrow?”

Hearing this, An Yuanyao nodded enthusiastically.

“Okay, whatever you say!”

After dinner, Liu Changqing packed up the leftover food and drove ho. On the way, he stopped by a flower shop and bought her the bouquet he had promised.

As Liu Changqing unlocked the door, he turned back and saw An Yuanyao still standing at the hallway entrance, hugging the large bouquet and grinning like a fool.

He couldn’t understand the appeal of flowers.

So expensive, yet completely useless!

You couldn’t even eat them!

Even so, seeing her so happy, he held back any complaints.

Carrying the takeout bags inside, he kicked off his shoes and slipped into his house slippers. With his free hand, he grabbed another pair and handed them to An Yuanyao.

But she made no move to change shoes, still staring lovingly at the bouquet he had bought her.

Seeing this, Liu Changqing sighed.

“Can you stop staring at it and change your shoes first?”

“They’re so pretty…”

“Yes, they’re pretty. I’ll buy you flowers every day if you want, but can you put on your shoes first?”

At that, An Yuanyao’s gaze finally shifted from the flowers to him.

Her face lit up with surprise.

“Every day? Really?”

“Of course not. Where would we even put them all?”

His response imdiately made her pout. She stared straight at him, hugging the bouquet tightly to her chest, and stomped her foot.

Then, using a tone he had never heard from her before, she whined,

“There’s plenty of space~”

“…”

The room fell into silence the mont she said that.

Liu Changqing gave her a strange look, saying nothing.

He didn’t move either—just stared.

His reaction made An Yuanyao’s face turn an even deeper shade of red.

And she slowly realized sothing—he didn’t seem to like it when she acted coy…

She had read a post online recently where a female netizen claid,

"There’s nothing a little whining and acting cute can’t solve. No man can resist it."

She had planned to use this "attack strategy" on Liu Changqing.

But things had progressed faster than expected today, and they were already officially a couple.

Still… she had wanted to test it out.

And from the look on his face, she now understood—

Not all n fell for that.

After a long mont, Liu Changqing finally moved.

He reached out and placed the back of his hand against her forehead, his face showing confusion.

“Did you burn your brain?”

“You—!”

“Alright, alright, let’s not fool around. Put on your shoes.”

Before she could swat his hand away, he pulled it back, laughing.

While she changed into slippers, Liu Changqing went to the kitchen, sorted the takeout boxes, and stuffed everything into the fridge.

Looking at the now fully packed fridge, he thought,

Great, I won’t have to cook for the next few days!

Hearing the security door close, Liu Changqing walked out of the kitchen and glanced at An Yuanyao.

“Are you still practicing with Xiazhi tonight?”

“Yeah, after she gets out of school.”

“Speaking of which… don’t you two need to buy costus? The dancers in competitions on TV always wear flashy outfits. But you two just wear regular practice clothes all the ti.”

“I already had so custom-made.”

Her response surprised him.

“You got them tailored?”

“This competition is important for Xiazhi’s future. We have to make sure everything is perfect.”

As she spoke, An Yuanyao started glancing around the living room.

Liu Changqing raised a brow.

“What are you looking for?”

“I want to put so flowers around the house… Don’t you think the living room looks a little plain?”

“Hmm?”

Now that she ntioned it, Liu Changqing looked around.

Other than the place being a bit old and the furniture looking a little worn, he didn’t see anything that needed decorating.

“I think it’s fine. Besides, I don’t own a vase.”

After scanning the room and finding no suitable place for the flowers, An Yuanyao gave up searching.

There was no air conditioning in the living room.

So, in this sweltering September heat, the apartnt felt like a miniature furnace.

Hugging a large bouquet for so long, An Yuanyao inevitably began sweating.

Strands of her hair stuck to her forehead.

Noticing this, Liu Changqing asked casually,

“Want a soda? I bought so the other day.”

“Mm.”

She didn’t refuse.

As Liu Changqing headed to the kitchen, An Yuanyao sat down on the couch, still holding the bouquet.

Even though she didn’t want to let go, she had to admit—after carrying it for so long, it was getting hotter and hotter.

She even felt… like she was sweating just from hugging the flowers.

And that feeling…

Wasn’t very comfortable.
