"The new place feels pretty nice, huh?"
"Yeah, it's really spacious. A three-bedroom apartnt with two living rooms really is great, and it even has central air conditioning."
Today happened to be the day President Shirogane's family was moving.
They had just moved into the floor right below where Rinji lived. After paying the rent, Shirogane family officially moved in.
This was a high-end apartnt complex in Tokyo. According to the unwritten rules here, tenants were usually required to pay a gratuity fee when moving in. However, two days before Shirogane moved in, Rinji had a little talk with the building managent.
As for how that conversation went... it's not sothing convenient to explain.
In short, the family of three successfully moved in.
"President, even if we're moving, you don't have to bring everything with you, do you?"
Rinji looked at the pile of clearly worn-out miscellaneous items and kitchenware stacked in the room, including an obviously ancient electric fan.
"So of this stuff really should be thrown out."
"No way. It'll all co in handy eventually."
Shirogane was extrely frugal.
Even after earning a lot of money, he still remained stingy, reluctant to throw away many things.
"Fine, but… at least replace this CRT television, okay? Who still uses one of these nowadays?"
"This TV has excellent quality. No need to replace it," Shirogane said righteously.
"..."
At this point, Rinji felt that instead of giving him a study machine for his birthday, a furniture set would've been much more practical.
He looked around and noticed a portable gas stove and a pot among the pile of stuff, and inside the pot were so dumplings.
"President, this looks like sothing new."
"Yeah, it is."
"Doesn't seem like furniture though."
The pot was one thing, but a portable stove wasn't exactly sothing you'd use at ho. If it were for hotpot, they already had an old induction cooker. With how frugal this family was, they wouldn't buy a new one.
"Yeah, it's all for tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? What's happening tomorrow?"
"It's the Mid-Autumn full moon, of course," Shirogane said with a smile. "Perfect night for moon viewing."
"..."
Japan's version of Mid-Autumn was totally different from the one Rinji knew.
Here, it's referred to as 'Thirteenth Night' and 'Fifteenth Night'—the 15th and 16th days of the eighth lunar month, and the 13th and 14th of the ninth.
This ti, it happened to be the 15th day of the eighth lunar month— which is the 'Fifteenth Night' in Japan.
"Then… are we having mooncakes tomorrow?"
"Back in your country, Mid-Autumn ans mooncakes, right? But in Japan, 'Fifteenth Night' traditions involve eating sothing called tsukimi dango."
Shirogane took the dumplings from the pot and handed them to Rinji.
"They're basically glutinous rice balls."
"Oh. Then what about this pot and stove?"
"To cook mochi. I bought so already."
"..."
Japanese mochi was quite different from what Rinji knew—it was an extrely sticky, sweet food. Rinji still preferred the stir-fried version from his hotown.
"Is the moon-viewing a student council event?"
"Of course. I hope the student council mbers can enjoy it. I've always loved astronomy. As a kid, I even dread of becoming an astronor."
"Oh..."
"You missed the fireworks festival last ti. Don't miss this one too."
Shirogane smiled, though a tinge of loneliness flickered in his eyes.
"After all… there won't be many more chances for the whole student council to gather together."
"..."
---
"That's the deal, Momo-senpai. The rooftop might be used by the student council."
"You an 'borrowed'. And the rooftop isn't mine, it belongs to the school. If you want to use it, talk to the administration."
On the rooftop, Ryuju Momo was, as usual, lying on an inflatable cushion, playing on her phone. Rinji sat beside her, just like always.
Although they didn't really organize events, Rinji was technically still a mber of the astronomy club.
"As long as you're okay with it, Senpai. I'll give the school an offer they can't refuse."
"You're always this dangerous."
Momo sat up and looked at him. "So how's it going with your girlfriend?"
"Pretty good."
"What does 'pretty good' even an?"
"I an, it's nice. We can only et on weekends, but that kind of distance gives us ti to miss each other a little..."
Seeing Rinji's smug look, Momo really wanted to smack him on the head.
To think he got a girlfriend out of nowhere right before sumr ended—it totally caught her off guard.
She had purposely avoided asking him about Karura during the start of the term because she knew that if she did, this guy would brag for half an hour and drive her nuts.
"Tch. How do I steal you from her…"
"Huh?"
"Nothing." Momo rubbed her temples and changed the topic. "By the way, you've been deep in thought since we t. Sothing on your mind?"
"Yeah. Is the president's term as student council president almost over?"
"It is. Should be this month."
Momo nodded.
"Shirogane Miyuki leads the 67th student council of Shuchiin. Each president's term has a ti limit. When it's up, a new election is held and the current council disbands."
Since the mbers are appointed by the president, a new president ans a whole new set of mbers—it's a complete reshuffle.
"So... the president might not be the president anymore."
"Exactly. Unless he runs again and wins, that's it."
"If he does run again, there's a 100% chance he'll win."
"You've got that much confidence in him?"
"Of course. And I trust my own thods, too."
"...I'm not even going to ask what thods. If Shirogane decides to run, I'll definitely vote for him."
"That's great. But still..."
Rinji looked down from the rooftop at the students below.
"He probably won't run again. This job's already exhausting enough for him."
[Raw: 猛男并不想要日常
It currently has about 1300 chapters so I'm not even 15% done. There are also 2 volus. The Highschool years which have about 900 chapters and College years which is currently ongoing. If you'd like, you explore or even translate it yourself. The raw itself has a pretty good translation. The only errors are inconsistent naming or just straight up Chinese nas and so sentences and paragraphs may not deliver it's aning well. But hey, We have AI so you can use that. If you really like the story, I recomnd you go for the raw cause I might not have the ti to bulk release chapters. At most, 5 chapter a day or more.
A lot of people also assus that the reason Rinji is preventing Shirogane to confess or instilling so ideas in Shirogane of not confessing to kaguya is because the author wants to pair kaguya to MC. But that is nearly impossible with how the story is going. At most, Kaguya's feelings for Rinji are just admiration.
And also a little correction
Sagara Sosuke → Sagara Sosuke
Sagara Kaya → Sagara Kana
Apparently they are characters from full tal panic. Just discovered it while browsing through the comnts.]
