I felt as if I had already enjoyed being a husband and a father ahead of ti.
After freshening up, Kristina took the little girl to school, and I hailed a taxi to the hospital.
The doctor happened to be doing rounds, checked my wound, and started the daily drip.
Luckily, Kristina ntioned she was preparing a big al for today. Otherwise, she would have definitely followed.
An hour later, Lillian arrived. Michaelson showed up, and then Frank ca a while later.
They were all here to pick up from the hospital.
"Congratulations on your discharge!"
Lillian held a cup of water and kept splashing it on .
I asked, "Lillian, what are you doing?"
Lillian replied, "This is holy water. Sprinkling this water on you can dispel sickness and misfortune!"
I was speechless, but it was her good intention, so I couldn’t say anything.
"William, congratulations on your discharge. This is my gift for you," Frank said.
He took out an envelope, inside were so nutrition fees, telling to buy so supplents to nourish my body when I got back.
I weighed it in my hand and found it was so light. Could it be another check?
I pinched it again and realized it wasn’t. It contained a bank card. I quickly said, "Frank, you’ve already bought so many supplents. That’s more than enough. I can’t take this money."
"This is just a small token from . Don’t overthink it. It’s rely a personal gesture!" Frank said.
No wonder he just said this was a personal gesture, not from the Michaelson Family.
"This... Frank, I understand your intention, but I can’t accept the money, really!"
"William, there isn’t much inside, just a token of appreciation. Please accept it!"
Upon hearing him say this, I hesitated for a mont.
Lillian snatched the envelope and pushed it into my pocket, saying, "Didn’t I tell you? If it’s ant to be accepted, then accept it."
Since they all insisted, any further delay would have been rude.
I nodded. "Thank you, Frank."
Frank smiled and said, "Let’s go! Ti to leave the hospital!"
They originally wanted to treat to a big al, but Kristina was still busily cooking at ho. I couldn’t let her efforts go to waste, so I found an excuse to decline.
Michaelson didn’t say much either. "William, how about this? Tomorrow night, I’ll have soone to pick you up, and we’ll have a modest al at my place. My wife is insistent on inviting you back. You won’t let embarrass myself before her, will you?"
Since Michaelson said so, I certainly couldn’t refuse. "Okay. I’ll be there tomorrow for sure," I replied.
"Then we’ll head back first."
Michaelson said to Lillian, "Lillian, you take William back."
Lillian nodded.
Her car was a spacious Cadillac, and it took only two trips to carry all the supplents.
I asked her to drop off at the old neighborhood.
"You live here?" Lillian asked, seemingly surprised.
"Yeah, Sevan’s rent is high. It’s cheaper here," I explained.
As we climbed the stairs, I said, "And the old neighborhood has a strong sense of community, more neighborly."
Opening the door, I poured her a glass of water. The two-bedroom apartnt, though not luxurious, was clean and simple.
Luckily, I was not ssy on a regular basis. Otherwise, I’d be embarrassed to have her co up.
She walked around the house with a cup in hand. "I didn’t realize you’re pretty tidy."
As she walked to the doorway of my bedroom, I suddenly rembered the won’s stockings and lace lingerie on the bed. Jessica had sent them, and I hadn’t put them away.
If she saw them, wouldn’t my glorious image be shattered?
I was about to rush over to stop her when she suddenly stopped in her tracks. "You don’t live with her?"
"What? You an Mary?"
She nodded.
"Ah, we just started dating. To live together should at least wait until we’re talking about marriage."
"I see. I’ve never been in a relationship before."
I wondered, ’Never been in a relationship? Then what about Nicholas? Also, why are you telling this?’
"Oh, why not?" I asked casually.
"My family has strict rules for , both my parents and my brother wouldn’t permit it."
She sighed. "What happened with Nicholas was just an experint for . It was not really dating, at most just communication between friends, and I don’t have any feelings for him."
"What kind of guy do you like then?" I asked.
"Well... I think soone like you is good!"
"?" I pointed at myself.
She nodded. "Righteous, courageous, viewing money as nothing, and handso to boot. If you were to attend our university, those senior and junior girls will surely fall for you."
Listening to her praise like that, I suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.
"Well, I’m not as good as you say," I replied bashfully.
She walked towards . "No, you’re really good."
I thought, ’If you have sothing to say, just say it. Can you not stand so close to ?’
I was dumbfounded.
I stepped back and said, "Lillian, I have a girlfriend."
She chuckled, "I haven’t done anything, you don’t have to look so scared."
"By the way, are you free this weekend?" she added.
Weekend?
"Saturday or Sunday?" I asked.
"Sunday," she said, "our dorm is having a mixer this weekend. I’d like to invite you."
"?"
"Yes!" she said. "You don’t know how annoying those people are, like flies every day. I don’t like them; they’re so immature, so I want to invite you..."
"As a shield?" I joked.
"Among the guys I know, you’re the best. I can’t think of anyone else besides you."
Hearing such a cute girl praise like that, my sense of masculinity suddenly surged.
And a mixer in the girls’ dorm, wouldn’t that an seeing a lot of pretty girls?
"Okay. I’ll co."
"Really?"
She jumped with excitent, her chest bouncing.
She kissed on the cheek, then ran to the door before I could react.
"Okay, it’s settled. I’ll leave now!"
I covered my face. ’What is this? Are all post-2000s so open in their actions?’
