There is a saying, "If a person is not ruthless, their position is unstable."
Nicole frowned, saying, "William, do you have to make the relationship between colleagues so tense?"
She looked at lody and asked, "lody, won’t you say a few words? If this matter gets out, what will be the consequences? You should know!"
Damn, this woman is tough, starting to make a big deal out of it.
However, lody has never gotten along with her. lody chuckled, "Ms. Cooper, you are exaggerating. It’s just a joke between colleagues. Even if the higher-ups know about it, they will just laugh it off."
I gave her full marks for this reply, beautifully done!
Nicole was speechless at lody’s response, and finally, her expression softened. She said, "lody, are you covering up?"
lody shot back, "You said Brandon and William’s bet was just a joke between colleagues. I’m just following your lead. If what I’m doing is considered covering up, what about you? Letting subordinates attack colleagues and undermine company unity?"
lody held grudges. Brandon challenged her in the elevator, and she had already taken note of it.
I was her team mber. If she allowed other team supervisors to bully , it would show her weakness and incompetence. What would the other team mbers think?
The conversation between the two attracted more attention. Even the patrolling security guards gathered around.
Nicole’s face showed a hint of anger. She said, "Stop making a mountain out of a molehill."
"You were the one who made a big deal out of it first," lody said.
The two were at odds!
Seeing this, I quickly pulled lody over, and others went to pull Nicole. I really doubted if they would co to blows if they continued arguing.
"Brandon, things have escalated because of your screw-up. Do you intend to honor your promise?"
Paul said, "Regardless, this matter should not escalate further. If it cos to light, it will be seen as more of your fault."
Brandon stood there, looking flustered. "I... I... I was wrong. It was my big mouth. I am willing to admit defeat. William won that deal with his real skills!"
At this point, he took a deep breath and smiled. "William, do you think kneeling down and calling you that is necessary?"
With a deep breath, he flashed a grin and asked, "Do you think I need to kneel now?"
But at that mont, I felt like every pore in my body was wide open, and I felt absolutely great!
Nicole snorted and headed towards Jessica’s office, clearly planning to lodge a complaint.
But what she didn’t expect was that lody was Jessica’s good friend.
Did you think she would stand by her side? With the excitent fading, everyone dispersed, but the marketing departnt folks stayed in small clusters, shooting occasional glances my way.
Grace ca over, asking, "I did pretty well just now, didn’t I?"
"Flattery will get you nowhere; it’s either dishonest or manipulative."
I glanced at her. This woman was up to no good; she was not being so kind-hearted for no reason.
She must have an ulterior motive.
She pouted, looking unhappy. "I helped you, and this is how you repay ?"
"Do you expect people to bare their souls to you just like that?"
She lowered her head and said, "Can’t you see? My heart is already yours."
I couldn’t help but swallow hard. This flirtatious woman, it seed like she was not wearing a bra, sticking to sothing; damn, no wonder why she was swaying so much today, like a wild horse running free.
"Aren’t you afraid it will pop out?"
"Wouldn’t that be perfect? I did it on purpose so you can easily see my true feelings, right?"
This woman’s seductive tactics are really strong. She grabbed my hand and said, "William, if you can’t see it, reach out and touch it. See how genuine my feelings are."
"This isn’t right!"
"Are you afraid of others seeing?"
She chuckled, placed my hand on her smooth and fair thigh, and said, "This way, no one else can see."
The touch in that mont was simply explosive.
Soft, yet full of elasticity. "I purposely didn’t wear stockings today. Do you know why?"
Her fingers scratched my palm, leading my hand as if to show so mysterious scenery.
My heart raced, the warmth between our palms growing more intense, more intimate.
"Why?"
"Isn’t it for you? Last ti you stood up, do you want to make it up to today?"
She bit her lip, looking pitiful. This bold woman really has guts. During work hours, isn’t she afraid of being seen by others?
"Isn’t it inappropriate?" I said again.
"What’s wrong with it? This ti, we won’t go to the rooftop."
Grace blinked and said, "I’ve already booked a room at the nearby Ho Inn, Room 602. I’ll go first after work. Don’t make wait too long."
What, she already booked a room? Who could resist that?
"Aren’t you going to do anything bad to ?"
She covered her mouth and chuckled. "How co? Can’t we talk about work?"
Does talking about work require booking a room?
"Are you coming or not?" she asked.
Her hand suddenly paused, making my heart race like a cat on the prowl. It felt like I was about to reach a secret territory, but now, with this abrupt halt, it’s simply maddening.
"Okay!"
I nodded reluctantly, and she gave a foxy smile. "We’re about to reach the end of this exploration, rember..." Before she could finish her words, the office door swung open, and an angry voice bellowed, "William, get your ass in here."
Grace and I jumped at the sudden outburst. She swiftly pulled away, putting so distance between us.
I sighed inwardly. What a missed opportunity, just by a hair’s breadth.
I stood up, and Grace, looking apprehensive, gave a ’good luck’ glance.
"William, go in and bear with it," Paul said.
I nodded, and as I passed by lody, she suddenly asked, "Need to tag along?"
I paused and shook my head. "No need. I reckon I’ll be the one facing the consequences this ti. Better not involve you."
With that, I strode into the office.
"Close the door!" Jessica’s voice was cold.
I shut the door and saw Nicole sitting across from Jessica with red eyes. Why the tears?
"Jessica, did you call for sothing?" I asked.
"Do you have the nerve to ask what’s wrong? Is it really necessary to stir up drama over so office banter?" Jessica slamd the table. "Look at how you’ve upset Nicole. You owe her an apology and prepare a five-hundred-word self-critique."
