I replied, "There will be many more tis in the future!"
Opening the windows for ventilation, she said, "Are there any interviews this afternoon? I want to interview them personally."
"You’re diving into work so quickly?"
"Exactly. You could leave at any ti. If you leave, what’s the point of staying in Skylight?"
"There should be over ten people coming for interviews this afternoon. You can choose and make notes, and if everything’s fine, I’ll have them start working tomorrow!"
Fortunately, Grace was dressed very professionally. If she were like before, I would have been a bit worried.
While she conducted interviews, I went to the eighteenth floor. There was a law firm there.
Moreover, the entire floor was occupied by law firms, numbering no less than ten.
I chose the most beautiful receptionist at one of the law firms and went in. The receptionist was very passionate. "Sir, do you have an appointnt?"
"No. I want to sue soone and find a lawyer here to help ."
Upon hearing this, the receptionist beca even more enthusiastic and brought out a booklet. "These are the lawyers in our law firm. You can choose one, and I can help you make an appointnt in advance."
"Do I need an appointnt? This is too troubleso. I’m in a hurry and want to settle this matter quickly!"
"I’m sorry, sir. The lawyers in our firm are very busy, as each of them has many cases to handle."
"Are there any less busy ones?"
"What?"
The receptionist was taken aback, and I realized I had misspoken.
The busier the lawyer, the more capable he was, and the higher his success rate in lawsuits.
Conversely, a lawyer with free ti would likely to be less competent.
Just then, a weak voice ca from behind . "Sir, I can take on your case!"
I turned around and saw a young woman in her twenties with black-frad glasses, dressed professionally, standing there. Her face was slightly red from nervousness or shyness.
I furrowed my brows. "Is she a lawyer at your firm?"
The receptionist said, "Yes, but she’s an intern lawyer!"
An intern lawyer?
I thought to myself, ’Is she kidding ?’
I didn’t know if she was capable or not, but I definitely couldn’t wait for an appointnt. I had already said that I would sue Philip, so it needed to be done soon.
"Never mind. I’ll go check out another place!"
As I was about to leave, the female intern lawyer stepped forward to stop . "Sir, may I have a few minutes to know the case? If you think I’m not suitable, you can leave then."
I thought, ’Well, since I’m here, it’s not bad to consult her.’
"Do you have a certificate?"
"I do. I just got it the day before yesterday. If you don’t believe , you can co to my office."
"Let’s go take a look then."
The female intern lawyer’s eyes lit up. "Follow ."
Although it was called an office, it was actually a tiny room, with just enough space for a desk, two chairs, not even a sofa, and the space was cramped.
I suddenly felt a bit regretful.
"Sir, let introduce myself. My na is Savannah Lee. You can call Savannah."
Sitting in the office, Savannah seed much less timid, and she took out her lawyer’s qualification certificate from a drawer. I took a look and it seed genuine.
"My na is William Maine."
"Alright. Mr. Maine, can you briefly explain the case?"
I nodded and recounted the situation. After thinking for a mont, she smiled and said, "Okay, I can take on this case, and I’m sure we can win."
"I know we can win. I just want to know if we can get him jailed."
"As for this, I need to see the evidence specifically. If he has seriously infringed on your personal rights, he may face up to three years in prison, or he may get detention, control, deprivation of political rights, and so on."
"I have chat records."
I opened the company group chat and handed my phone to her. "Scroll down. They’re all there!"
She looked through them and then said, "The evidence is substantial. His remarks have seriously insulted you, hard your reputation, and maliciously spread false information, infringing on your right to privacy."
I nodded. "Just tell , how long could he be sentenced if I sue him?"
Savannah said, "If he is willing to apologize and compensate, would you consider settling?"
"No."
Savannah thought for a mont. "At least a year, and not only that, he would have to apologize and compensate for ntal damages."
"If I entrust it to you, how long will it take to settle it?"
"Seven to ten days. If he countersues, it might need a bit more ti. But with the substantial evidence in this case, there’s basically no chance of a reversal."
I thought seven to ten days was relatively fast.
"Alright. I’ll entrust this case to you."
I stood up and handed her the docunts to copy, including printing chat records and so on.
Savannah was very excited. "Thank you, Mr. Maine."
I waved my hand. "You earned this yourself. No need to thank ."
"But let make it clear. All the evidence for this case is solid. You just promised to win. If you end up losing, you must pay for it!"
"Okay. Don’t worry. If we lose this case, I will quit the legal profession from then on."
After she took my docunts out to copy, and after everything was done, I paid half of the litigation fees.
Because Savannah was just an intern lawyer, it was relatively cheap, only a total of one thousand dollars.
"Oh, by the way, I have an office on the 20th floor. If you need anything, you can co directly to ."
After saying that, I walked up the stairs.
At that mont, Grace had just finished sending off a group of interviewees. "Where did you go?"
"I went to the law firm downstairs."
She was surprised. "Are you really going to sue Philip?"
"Yes, I will submit the docunts to the court tomorrow, and he should receive the summons in the next few days."
She looked at with so concern. "Won’t this cause too much trouble?"
I pinched her cheek. "People should pay for their mistakes, and I have forgiven him twice already. If he dares to co at for a third ti, I’ll have to shut him up for good so he never dares to speak nonsense again."
Grace said, "You’re not going to sue too, right? After all, I also made fun of you."
"Aren’t you already making up for it?"
She rolled her eyes at . "Are you feeling pleased with yourself?"
"Of course. Is there anything more satisfying than being with you?"
"You pervert."
She stood up. "It’s getting late. Are you going back to the company?"
I checked the ti. It was almost five o’clock. I nodded. "Let’s go back together."
Anyway, for now, I was still an employee of the Skylight marketing departnt. Until I officially resigned, I couldn’t just leave my post.
We were very close in the office, but once we left there, we kept our distance.
