The Soul

"I've co to ask for your allegiance." Christopher said in a concise tone.

Sinestra stared at him calmly and showed no signs of anger or irritation at his statent. Instead, he sighed and placed his teacup down.

"May I see your face boy?" He asked and Christopher hesitated slightly before slowly removing his mask.

He placed it down and stared at Sinestra with his real face.

"A handso lad indeed." Sinestra said with a bit of a wistful smile, then he was silent for a mont before saying.

"You aren't of this world aren't you?" Hearing this, Christopher's heart trembled.

'How did he-?!' Before his thoughts could spiral, Sinestra said calmly.

"Worry not, I don't have bad intentions. Then again, even if I did, I doubt I would be able to harm you seriously." He said and Christopher relaxed slightly, but only slightly.

"How can you be so sure?" Christopher asked and Sinestra chuckled.

"Beings like are incredibly few in number. Which is fair considering our abilities. And among these abilities, being able to make out the shape of a soul is one of them." Hearing this, Christopher beca interested.

"You're implying that my soul is different?" He asked and Sinestra nodded.

"Your soul… possesses a purity I have never seen in my lifeti." Sinestra said after a bit of hesitation.

"Purity?" Christopher was surprised. He was expecting him to say that it was shaped differently, or had a strange Aura, or sothing like that. He certainly didn't think it would be labelled as pure though.

"That's correct. Depending on how pure a soul is, the shine it gives off differs. The purer it is, the brighter it shines." Hearing this, Christopher tilted his head.

"I see. So how does that work? By good deeds or sothing?" Imdiately he asked the question, Sinestra broke out laughing.

Christopher felt his mouth twitch and forced back a blush and simply waited.

"Ah, young man. I understand why you'd assu such but I can assure you that it certainly is not about good deeds." Sinestra shook his head and finally cald himself.

"No, what determines a soul's purity is its strength. The sa way a powerful being would exude a powerful Aura from their body, a powerful soul exudes a powerful shine." He Explained and Christopher nodded in understanding.

"I see. But sothing tells that it isn't as simple as that." Christopher said and Sinestra nodded.

"Indeed. The difference between a powerful body and a pure soul is indeed, quite significant." Sinestra said and Christopher waited patiently.

"You see, the all beings have a consciousness, and that consciousness is a byproduct of the soul. If one doesn't have a soul, or a weak one, then they won't develop a consciousness, and would simply be mindless beasts moving based on instinct. It's only beings with a sufficiently pure soul that can develop a consciousness, and stronger souls will allow for sentience." He explained and Christopher listened intently.

"That's one of the things that divides beings from monsters, their sentience. That's also why magical constructs, no matter how automated they are, are simply mindless entities that follow the will of their creator." Hearing this, Christopher frowned slightly but waited for Sinestra to finish.

"Now while that in itself is interesting, there's sothing else that cos with having a pure soul." Sinestra smiled slightly.

"And that's ones Affinity to creation." Christopher's eyes widened slightly.

"Runes are the building blocks and Mana is the material for these blocks. I trust you already know this much due to your exquisite control over runes so I won't go into detail on that. But yes, one's soul strength determines just how high their Affinity to creation, or Mana is. One of the reasons beings like dragons are as powerful and talented as they are is due to the fact that they are born with incredibly pure souls." Christopher nodded and processed the information.

"So how does this point to being an outsider?" Christopher asked and Sinestra smiled.

"Boy, I'm much, much older than you think, and I have seen many souls in my lifeti. So so dim they could barely pass for souls, and so so bright they were simply stunning to look at." Sinestra chuckled and looked at Christopher.

"Yours, is brighter than a sun." Christopher blinked.

"That bright huh?" He mumbled and Sinestra nodded.

"Mhm. Your soul is so pure that it's simply unnatural. I doubt that even the dead gods would have souls as Bright as yours." He said and Christopher leaned back in his seat to process the information.

'If that's the case, then sothings make sense. Like how I can so easily make use of runes. But I thought that was rely a byproduct of my bloodline. But at the sa ti that isn't quite right. My Magic Helix Affinity is potent yes, but its Description never said anything about being able to manipulate runes with such ease. It spoke about Laws instead, but those are different.' He rubbed his chin.

'In that case, it would make sense as to why I find it so easy to use runes and see them. But why is my soul so potent in the first place?' Imdiately he asked himself that question, he got an answer.

'The system. It said that it fused with my soul that had been getting ready for reincarnatio. If the System truly was made from the energy of a new universe than it's not odd that it made my soul that much more powerful. But I still have so questions.' As he had that thought, he looked at Sinestra.

"You said that magical constructs have no souls and simply obey the comnds of their creators. But earlier when I was fighting the Voidwalkers, I created three magical clones to deal with them and while they obeyed my order, they showed far too personality for beings that had no souls." Hearing this, Sinestra nodded.

"I observed that. I couldn't do anything due to the empty cubes but I could still spectate. Indeed, I noticed those clones had souls of theirs, but they were very weak compared to yours. In fact, those weren't their souls." Christopher raised a brow.

"aning?" Sinestra smiled.

"It might simply be the side effects of having such a pure soul. But those constructs each seed to be tethered to you via a string that connected the souls in their bodies to yours, with yours acting as a sort of fuel source. And when you dismissed them, these small souls imdiately retracted along with the tethers itl your soul. Ultimately rging again." Christopher was surprised.

"How… does that work?" Christopher asked with confusion and Sinestra shook his head.

"In truth, I'm not quite sure myself. I've never observed such a phenonon before. But my theory is that, as a result of your soul being so pure, you unconsciously make use of it whenever you use magic or runes. The effect becos more pronounced when you do sothing like create a clone. I have no idea why this would be so however as your soul, despite being so potent, is perfectly stable. So there's no reason for such a thing to occur." He shrugged.

"But in the first place your soul is so unnaturally pure that quite frankly, you should not exist. That's why I'm certain you aren't of this world." When he finished, Christopher went silent before sighing.

"Well, no point in hiding it I guess. You're right, I'm not from this world." He admitted.

Sinestra smiled slightly.

"Well, that's that I suppose. Now, about your desire for my allegiance." As he said this, Christopher tensed slightly.

"I have one question for you. What is your goal? And don't bother lying, I can tell with that mask of yours removed." He said and Christopher fell silent.

What was his goal?

Many would find this question tricky while many would find it simple. So would say they want to live a happy life, so would want wealth, so would want a family, so would want power. It differed depending on the individual.

As for Christopher.

"Honestly, I'm just trying to find soone." He shrugged and Sinestra raised a brow.

"Oh?" Christopher nodded.

"It's… kinda their fault that I'm here in the first place if I'm being honest. They betrayed basically. And while I feel like they had a reason for doing so, the fact remains the sa." Hearing this, Sinestra humd.

"So you seek revenge?" However, Christopher shook his head.

"No. They betrayed , yes, but I don't hate them. Far from it actually." He sighed.

His feelings towards Joan were still very complicated. He wanted to feel resentful for what she did. But he found out that no matter what, all he could feel towards her was this deep sense of longing.

He couldn't explain it, and the logical part of his brain told him that if he kept chasing after her, all he'd be t with would be bitter disappointnt. But even then, his heart had already won.

"I'm a selfish man, elder." Christopher admitted.

"I'm no saint. Sure I help people, but only when it's convenient to . Granted I threw a tantrum because a few innocent people died and nearly levelled a continent. That's sothing I still need to address. But the truth of the matter still remains. Everything I'm doing is simply a ans to an end and if it doesn't help my goal or if it doesn't go against my own morals, I don't really care." Hearing this, Sinestra chuckled.

"Your own morals? Care to expand on that?" He asked and Christopher tilted his head.

"Well, I don't like seeing innocent people get hurt. And if I see that happening I'll help if I can. In fact, one of my subordinates is my subordinate because I took pity on her. The sa thing with the Voidwalkers attack. I felt that I could help, so I did." He said simply and Sinestra nodded slowly.

"What about situations that are out of your power, but you also really wish you could have helped?" He asked and Christopher shrugged again.

"Well, in that case, I'll just get strong enough to help." His response made Sinestra scoff lightly.

"You speak like you can beco stronger at the drop of a hat." Hearing this, Christopher just smiled slightly and Sinestra frowned. Your next chapter awaits on empire

"What does that an… you know what, it doesn't matter." He shook his head with a sigh.

"So, about my offer…" Christopher started and Sinestra waved his hand dismissively.

"Yeah yeah whatever. I pledge my loyalty to you. You can do whatever." Hearing this, Christopher grinned.

"Thank you elder. You won't regret it." He said and Sinestra snorted.

"What would I do even if I did regret it? You're Gonna do sothing big right? Just get it over with." He said, though there was a trace interest as to what Christopher would do.

Christopher nodded and imdiately teleported to the center of the island.

'I guess it's ti to level up again.' He thought with so excitent and crouched down and placed his hand on the ground.
