eting I

While the three main clans had the most presence among their counterparts, the other clans weren't to be looked down on.

After all, for a clan to be officially recognized, they needed to et a few basic requirents, among which, was to have 50 Apex ranks at their disposal.

Such a thing sounded insane but considering that even the weaker clans had at least 200 hundred, it wasn't anything too crazy.

The Mantodea clan which had about 500 Apex-ranked beings at their disposal was considered to be in the upper middle class among the clans.

They were especially deadly because, first of all, their bodies were like natural weapons. They had a tough carapace that eliminated the need for conventional armor, and their vision could only be described as excellent as they were capable of observing even the smallest movents from a large distance.

Their arms had retractable scythes which were their primary weapons, and the unique thing about these scythes was that they could be enhanced freely without hurting the Mantodea in any way. Granted, they couldn't go overboard.

They were also very nimble and fast, making them incredibly agile and difficult to track.

And their most prominent 6 is that everything just ntioned is simply their basic form. They have a transformation, that turns them into a literal praying mantis that's extrely dangerous to deal with.

These were simply their physical advantages. If one added magic to the mix, then they could only be described as devastating opponents who were treated with respect, and for good reason.

As a Mantodea who excelled in stealth, Dil thought that infiltrating the base of this mysterious force would be, if not easy, then of moderate difficulty.

After all, his stealth skills and magic were good enough to earn him the title of commander over a force of stealth experts like himself.

He excelled in infiltration and espionage as well as assassination, and while he wasn't inherently prideful as his line of work was always dangerous, he still had confidence in his abilities.

He wasn't overly surprised when Thanatos spotted him. After all, it was easy to guess that the Kich was the strongest being within the base. Moreover, Dil felt imnse danger when looking at Thanatos, so it was easy to infer that his abilities were on another level.

So Dil wasn't shocked by that. Not really. But the fact that he wasn't simply detected by every soldier in the vicinity was terrifying.

What was even more terrifying was what his instincts told him.

If he tried anything, he would die.

There was no third option, no hidden choice he could make. He either settled things amiably, or he got reduced to ashes.

That's why he didn't try to be pretentious when Thanatos questioned him and imdiately stated why he was there.

'Let the general deal with this. I am outclassed in every way possible.' Dil thought as he led Thanatos through the halls of the vessel.

Their information said that the Lich's abilities lay in its massive undead army, so it should be comparatively weak on its own.

If that were the case, the Lich should know that as well. Yet, not only did it not co with a single undead soldier, but the threatening feeling Dil got from it didn't fade in the slightest.

He lanted in his mind before eventually reaching the eting room. He pushed the door open with a word and strode inside with Thanatos following.

The eting room wasn't anything elaborate. It had a few simple designs, but besides that, it had a large table with seats around it. Like a eting room.

In each seat was a different Mantodea. So were large and so were thin, but each of them had a fearso Aura.

The most fearso Aura belonged to the Mantodea at the head of the table. This one had four arms with a silver and black carapace, its large eyes filled with grim determination.

Dil quickly entered one of the free seats and exhaled in his heart, happy to be near many familiar faces.

He received a few nods of acknowledgnt before all attention fell on Thanatos, who stood there calmly.

"What? No seat for ?" His grating voice echoed through the room, giving so of the people there goosebumps if that was even possible.

"Well, it doesn't matter." He said lightly and snapped his fingers. Then, his shadow suddenly enlarged, and from within it, an elaborate throne made of bones erged, and Thanatos calmly sat down on it. Read new chapters at My Virtual Library Empire

The mont he did, the atmosphere within the room turned stifling as a dreadful Aura filled the place. Many of the Mantodea experienced their equivalent of paling as the dread filled their hearts.

It wasn't surprising though, considering the function of the throne. Thanatos had asked Christopher to use the forge, and after getting the go-ahead, he got several powerful undead parts and created this throne which he called the Throne of Wailing Souls. Mostly because he used more than a few souls to aid in its creation. But the souls weren't wailing either, he just thought the na was cool.

Among its many effects, one effect was to fill the hearts of whoever looked at it with dread. A ntal attack basically.

Now was blatantly unleashing a ntal attack in the enemy camp a wise idea? Not particularly. But Thanatos was soone who believed in using shows of force.

He wanted to set the record straight and let them know that he wasn't soone to be ssed with. That way, they wouldn't try anything funny.

What he didn't know was that after his display of power which resulted in the utter annihilation of an entire fleet, their orders stated that they were to treat him with extre caution, and any actions that could possibly agitate him were to be avoided unless necessary.

All his display did was reinforce that idea.

Of all the beings in the room, the person at the head of the table, who Thanatos rightly assud to be the leader, seed the most unperturbed by his actions.

His four arms were folded as he observed the Lichz then he spoke.

"I'm going to go straight to the point." He said simply.

"We are curious about you and where you ca from. What force do you belong to? Why are you in this place? How did you enter this place? Are you responsible for certain things? What are your goals?" The general spoke imdiately, not wasting ti on idle chatter or introductions.

This made Thanatos laugh. An uncomfortable sound.

"Straight to the point, I like that." His words did not allow any of the Mantodea to relax in the slightest.

"Well, I can answer a few of your questions." Thanatos tapped his finger against the armrest of his throne.

"We belong to the Genesis Corps. Where we ca from and what our goals are is none of your business, nor is how we entered this place. And we are responsible for many things, which you want to know though, you have to be specific on what you want to know." Thanatos only answered one of the questions and gave a vague response to another, the rest were dismissed.

The general wasn't deterred though and simply continued.

"Are there more of you?" He asked again.

"Indeed. But I won't specify how many more." The General nodded, expecting such a response.

"Are your goals nefarious in any way towards the clans?" At this, Thanatos shook his head.

"Unless you attack us first, we will leave you alone. We have no intention of touching you people." That was mostly true as Thanatos was fully aware of the fact that Christopher intended to absorb the entire hidden realm into the Primordial Expanse, and if these people were there when it happened, then they'd beco a part of the Primordial Expanse as well.

Which wasn't particularly nefarious, but he doubted they would take the news lightly if he told them.

Not that he intended to.

"Are you the strongest one among your people?" This made Thanatos release a bark of laughter. Genuine amusent mixing with his otherwise dead tone.

This made the Mantodea extrely wary. They had seen what Thanatos was capable of from the video they received, and they knew that he was incredibly powerful simply by being in front of them. Despite not having transcended, everyone in the room felt imnse threat from him.

And yet, he was laughing.

"Ah, I apologize. It's been a long ti soone said sothing that sounded so outlandish to ." The skeleton cald down with a sigh(?).

"And to answer your question. I am not the strongest. Far from it actually. In fact, of my cadre, I'm the weakest one there physically... well, and another person." Thanatos said the last part with a bit of a contemplative tone as his thoughts moved to Prism whose abilities didn't exactly cater towards physical strength.

He did however, notice how many of the Mantodea trembled at his words.
