After only a few minutes of facing Alex, Sukuna realized he had no chance of defeating him in his current state.
That unparalleled strength Alex displayed reminded Sukuna of the fear he had felt the first ti he faced a special-grade curse as a fledgling sorcerer.
"Damn it!" Sukuna growled, his frustration evident. "Why did this kind of monster suddenly appear? His power completely breaks the rules!
His techniques are utterly incompatible with anything in this world—it's as if he's so mysterious powerhouse straight out of a shonen manga."
Sukuna glanced back, noticing Alex wasn't pursuing him. His expression twisted in anger.
"Is he underestimating ? That arrogance of his will be the very reason he dies at my hands!"
Despite his fury at being looked down on, Sukuna had no intention of turning back to confront Alex head-on.
He wasn't foolish.
As the King of Curses, who had ruled over the jujutsu world a thousand years ago, Sukuna was arrogant but also possessed imnse patience. He knew when to bide his ti and endure. Otherwise, he would have perished in his weaker days, never rising to his current power.
Realizing he was no match for Alex, Sukuna imdiately decided to move forward with his plan. He aid to take full control of gumi Fushiguro's body and begin the taming ritual for Mahoraga.
As long as he successfully tad Mahoraga and gained its power of adaptation, he could slowly adjust to Alex's overwhelming strength and eventually triumph.
The plan was fraught with peril. Every step carried imnse risk—one mistake would an his end. But Sukuna was confident. He was, after all, Sukuna. Success was all but guaranteed.
At this point, Yuji Itadori had already consud 15 of Sukuna's fingers, aning Sukuna's current strength had reached three-quarters of his peak.
Empowered by the massive reserves of cursed energy within his vessel, Sukuna dashed toward gumi's location, using the walls of nearby buildings to propel himself forward.
His speed was astounding. In just a few minutes, he reached gumi's position.
Perhaps due to Alex's interference, Toji Fushiguro hadn't imdiately forced gumi to kill him. Instead, he was toying with his son, the scene resembling a strange mix of fatherly affection and cruelty.
Toji, with his sharp senses, detected Sukuna's rapid approach. Realizing Sukuna's target was gumi, his expression darkened. Without hesitation, he struck gumi down and hurled him far away.
Using his exceptional control, Toji ensured gumi wouldn't be severely injured upon landing. Looking toward his son's retreating figure, a rare softness appeared in Toji's usually cold gaze.
"In life, I failed you as a father," he murmured. "It seems in death, I can at least succeed once.
gumi, live well."
As his words faded, Toji slightly tilted his head to avoid an invisible slash that nicked a few strands of his hair.
Turning, he faced the approaching Sukuna.
"The King of Curses, is it?" Toji said calmly. "Let's see what you've got."
Sukuna, observing Toji's state, sneered viciously.
"Interesting. So, without cursed energy, you've managed to maintain yourself here this long?
But that's all it amounts to. Flesh alone might handle the average threat, but it's useless against a Domain!"
Aware of Toji's extraordinary abilities, Sukuna chose not to take any chances. He imdiately activated his domain:
"Domain Expansion—Malevolent Shrine!"
An endless barrage of slashes rained down upon Toji. Despite the devastating power capable of annihilating everything within hundreds of ters, Toji managed to hold his ground for a few seconds.
But ultimately, he was just flesh and blood, without cursed energy or cursed tools to aid him. His strength, though imnse, wasn't enough. Sukuna killed him.
Yet, in his final monts, Toji used his own bones as weapons. He hurled his arm bone with such precision and force that it pierced Sukuna's heart.
Watching his heart quickly regenerate, Toji let out a faint sigh as he collapsed.
"Is that all I could manage? If only I had my cursed tools... this wouldn't have ended so easily."
With those words, his body was consud by the relentless slashes, leaving nothing behind.
Sukuna looked down at the arm bone embedded in his chest, a rare glimr of admiration in his eyes.
"In hand-to-hand combat," Sukuna said, "you were truly the strongest."
He charged forward again, pursuing gumi Fushiguro.
Compared to Sukuna, gumi was far too slow. Even with Nue carrying him through the air, he couldn't escape.
Sukuna slamd his foot into the side of a building, leaving a massive crater in the wall, and propelled himself toward gumi at incredible speed.
Before gumi could react, Sukuna grabbed him by the neck, cutting off his air supply.
Despite undergoing a month of intense training under Alex and experiencing significant growth in his strength, gumi was still no match for Sukuna. The gap between them was imnse—further widened by the fact that Alex hadn't directly enhanced gumi's abilities.
Having subdued gumi, Sukuna channeled all his cursed energy into Yuji Itadori's thumb. He severed the thumb, which now held the majority of his cursed energy, and forcibly shoved it into gumi's mouth.
As gumi continued to struggle violently, Sukuna sneered,
"Don't worry—I'll make good use of your body!"
With most of his energy drained, Yuji's body collapsed to the ground, limp and powerless. gumi, anwhile, briefly lost consciousness and fell face-first toward the ground.
Before his face could hit the ground, gumi moved again. He stretched out his hand to support himself and managed to stand upright once more.
Feeling the Cursed Technique of Ten Shadows within his new body, Sukuna couldn't help but burst into maniacal laughter.
"Hahahahaha! Alex, give a little more ti, and I'll co kill you!"
Ignoring Yuji lying behind him, Sukuna summoned Mahoraga.
A dense shadow spread outward from Sukuna's own, and from it erged a massive, pale creature with white skin and two pairs of pristine wings on its face.
As the figure of Mahoraga appeared, an overwhelming pressure enveloped the area. If ordinary people were present, they would likely collapse into unconsciousness—or even die—just from the sheer oppressive force.
Mahoraga tore off the bindings that restrained it, freeing itself completely. With a ferocious roar, it announced its return to the world as the most formidable monster of the Ten Shadows Technique.
However, before Mahoraga could make a move, searing flas erupted from Sukuna's hands, engulfing the creature.
This was Sukuna's strongest attack in his current state. Without any opportunity to adapt, Mahoraga was gravely wounded—nearly on the verge of death.
In re monts, Sukuna had tad the creature that gumi had never been able to control.
Though severely injured, Mahoraga possessed incredible regenerative abilities. As long as it wasn't attacked further, its wounds would heal in no ti.
Within seconds, Mahoraga had fully recovered.
Seeing this, Sukuna laughed triumphantly. "Excellent. It's done. Now, it's ti to settle the score with Alex."
"Oh? I'm right here. What are you planning to do?"
As Sukuna roared with laughter, a playful voice suddenly ca from behind him.
He suddenly leapt away, creating distance from Alex, who had appeared behind him without warning. Beads of cold sweat quickly ford on Sukuna's forehead as tension gripped him.
Noticing Alex hadn't seized the earlier opportunity to ambush him, Sukuna's expression twisted into a snarl.
"You dare underestimate again?! For centuries, no one has ever dared to look down on ! That was your last chance to win, and you wasted it. Now, prepare to repent in hell!
"Mahoraga, kill him!"
Sukuna commanded Mahoraga to engage Alex, while he stayed back to provide support.
Sukuna fully understood the source of Mahoraga's adaptive ability—its wheel of Dharma behind its head. As long as the wheel gathered sufficient information, Mahoraga could adapt to anything.
Even if Mahoraga were to be destroyed, the wheel would remain, preserving all the information it had collected. Sukuna could then use the wheel himself to gain immunity to Alex's techniques and ultimately defeat him.
This information had been top secret even a thousand years ago and was now completely lost to modern knowledge.
When Sukuna realized Alex wasn't trying to defeat Mahoraga with a single strike but was instead testing its limits, he grinned. Victory was already his.
As Alex continued experinting with gravitational forces and repulsion to gauge Mahoraga's adaptability, the battle began attracting attention. All the sorcerers in Shibuya started converging on the scene.
The fastest to arrive was Satoru Gojo, who first ensured Yuji Itadori's safety by moving him to a secure location before observing the fight.
When Gojo noticed Alex feeding Mahoraga new techniques, he grew increasingly anxious.
Even soone as confident as Gojo dared not prolong a fight with Mahoraga.
The longer the battle dragged on, the more Mahoraga would adapt, becoming exponentially stronger—an unstoppable force.
In fact, a Six Eyes sorcerer had been killed by Mahoraga a hundred years ago, a testant to the creature's terrifying power.
Gojo could sense Alex's mindset. This was the arrogance and confidence unique to the strongest. Alex believed his power was so overwhelming that he could still win, even if Mahoraga continued adapting.
But this ti was different. Throughout history, no one had ever witnessed Mahoraga reaching its limits.
Gojo imdiately stepped in beside Alex, unleashing his Hollow Purple attack on Mahoraga.
However, Alex had already used Hollow Purple several tis against Mahoraga earlier. The creature now tore apart the imaginary mass capable of obliterating space itself, rendering Gojo's ultimate attack ineffective.
Realizing even his strongest technique couldn't stop Mahoraga, Gojo's expression darkened. He turned to Alex, urging him:
"Alex, stop playing around! Use your full strength to destroy Mahoraga. If you let this continue, the entire country could be annihilated!"
By now, Mahoraga had grown to an unimaginable level of strength. Not even Gojo could contend with it, let alone the other sorcerers.
If the creature were allowed to evolve further, it could very well lead to the world's destruction.
Alex, however, remained calm, chuckling as he unleashed an even stronger attack than before.
"Don't be so serious, grandson. Everything is still under control."
Gojo, watching Mahoraga grow more powerful with every mont, grew increasingly uneasy. He feared that Mahoraga would soon surpass Alex's strength and spiral out of control.
Despite his growing concern, Alex remained unfazed, continuing to test Mahoraga's limits.
For the first ti, Gojo truly understood how others must feel watching him act recklessly.
It was infuriating. Could Alex not think about the bigger picture for once?
After Satoru Gojo arrived, other sorcerers began converging from all directions. They included sorcerers from both jujutsu high schools as well as independent jujutsu practitioners from society.
When they reached the battlefield and saw the ongoing clash between Alex and Mahoraga, they were stunned, their faces filled with disbelief.
Every single attack caused destruction spanning hundreds of ters. If the battle weren't taking place mostly in the sky, the entire city of Tokyo would likely have been reduced to rubble by the residual shockwaves alone.
Suddenly, a towering cha flew in from a distance, landing near Aoi Todo and the others.
But before it could stabilize, a shockwave from the battle reached the cha, instantly destroying it. From the debris erged a figure hidden inside the machine.
Even though they had never seen this person before, the sorcerers from Kyoto Jujutsu High imdiately recognized the familiar cursed energy.
Noritoshi Kamo exclaid in shock,
"chamaru, is that you?"
The figure, Kokichi Muta, walked out from the rubble, smiling as he responded,
"Noritoshi, we finally et. But call by my real na—Kokichi Muta."
Kokichi scanned the group from Kyoto and finally stopped on a short-haired girl with blue hair. His face softened as he smiled warmly and said,
"Kasumi, I'm here."
Hearing Kokichi's words, Kasumi Miwa could no longer hold back. She ran forward and embraced him tightly.
This tragic couple, whose story ended in heartbreak in the original tiline, had finally achieved a happy reunion.
But just then, another shockwave from the battle swept through the area, sending everyone flying. Whether they were students or Grade 1 sorcerers, none of them could resist the force of the shockwave.
Erging from the rubble, Kokichi Muta, still shaken, remarked,
"This is terrifying. Even the ultimate chamaru, which I spent years creating, couldn't withstand the residual shockwaves from their battle."
Holding Kasumi Miwa protectively in his arms, he added, "This is too frightening. Do you think Alex can really defeat that monster?"
anwhile, the distant battle raged on. Under Alex's deliberate attacks, Mahoraga—who had never before reached its limits—was finally approaching them.
Its power incrents began to decrease until, at last, there was no further growth.
However, at the sa ti, under the constraints Alex had placed upon himself, his attacks could barely harm Mahoraga. They only left shallow scars on its body.
The fact that Mahoraga had limits surprised Alex. If he hadn't actively suppressed the residual shockwaves from their fight, the resulting destruction could have wiped out the Earth itself, rather than rely spanning hundreds of ters as the onlookers perceived.
At this point, Mahoraga's power had reached a level akin to that of a god, far exceeding the limits of the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.
