The day passed rather quickly as the party began talking amongst each other about mundane things.
At first, only Trisha and Blaze were talking. Being the most talkative ones, they didn’t tire out even after a whole night of mundane conversation. Though as the topics shifted to streaming, Link also joined in.
Link explained many of his life situations he went through in his initial days, and how life was pretty hard on him at tis. Things changed when he t Blaze, and they started streaming together.
As he explained things, he also continued to explain the weapons he usually preferred in other gas, which were guns and rocket launchers. Grenades at tis. Though Arcadia didn’t have anything similar, he decided to be a support in this ga, letting Blaze take the front since he was more familiar with swords and spears.
"G also loves guns! He is like a super gun enthusiast!" Trisha added, bringing him into the conversation as well. Though sceptical at first, G then explained a bunch of things about his favourite guns, making the others, Link, Blaze and even Raven look at him curiously.
G began talking about guns, moved to electronic devices, then to rocket launchers, then to spy tools, then to tanks, and well... he didn’t stop for a good while.
Looking at him, being so into the topic, the other chuckled a little before joining in as well. Each of them chid in about their own favourite guns and things before the topics shifted once again from that to movies, and then to favourite places to visit and stuff.
Raven didn’t exactly participate in the conversation, but she did listen to a lot of things and agreed or disagreed with many of them.
Sohow, the part of an assassin, two strears, a rich brat and a skilled bodyguard is mixing quite well. I smiled as I then realised, I, a regressor, was the oddest of the bunch here.
Since there was nothing else to do, I also joined in the conversations, adding my opinions on them from ti to ti as well.
The morning sun rose high in the sky, and then slowly settled down on the horizon as we fought a few we had to, and ran away from the rest of the monsters. Luckily, we were sohow able to cover twice as much distance as we did on the first day.
A total of 60 miles.
This left us with about 30 to 40 miles to cover on the last day.
"So this is the wasteland. It’s gloomy," Raven, who was usually quiet, spoke out as she saw the barren land in front of us, which seed to stretch far deeper into the horizon. The others also nodded as they saw the lifeless area just a few steps ahead of us.
"There is still an hour before dusk, but let’s make a camp here. Without the daylight, it would be impossible to find the way out of here," I said as I took out my camp bag, making others follow the sa.
If it were any other wasteland, we could have used the stars to guide us through the area, but this one has a pretty dangerous illusion cast all over the area. It’s damn easy to get lost in the wasteland during the night when the illusion’s effects are at peak, as compared to the day. I sighed before thinking about the three ways to break the illusion within the wasteland.
First was simple. That is to use the [Arcadian Language] to do so. That was a little costly and ti-consuming, but it was sothing that I could count on even if the other two failed.
The second was the 3 [Directional Clairvoyant Scroll] that would help us reach a place we had seen in our mories before. It worked for about 4 hours before running out, and I was going to make full use of them the next day. I would have loved to get more of it, but sadly, this was the maximum amount that Lloyd could bring with him.
Lastly, it was the [Clearance] skill that Link had learnt before. It had a similar effect to that of Ancient Language, which allowed one to break the effect of any minor curse or illusion for a brief period of ti. Though rather than the versatility of the Ancient Language, it could only be used for a limited number of things.
Those were the three things that I was counting on in this journey of mine through this magical wasteland.
Last ti, I had the damphir’s skill [Pathfinder] to help through. I recalled that useful skill that had saved my life so many tis that I couldn’t count. It was also the reason I usually travelled alone and gained so many relics and treasures from the dungeons or hidden places.
I wonder if I could get that skill as a human? It shouldn’t be impossible, I suppose? I pondered this as I made it a part of my schedule after dealing with this quest. Though, because I already knew about so many secrets, I doubt I would exactly need to use this.
But then again, who knows if it might be needed once more?
Setting up the camp, I then sighed before sitting on the fresh ground and looking up at the starry sky.
It reminded of the day when I was about to end my life. The day Charles ca, and just shot into the past. A slight chuckle escaped my mouth as I recalled the conversation I had, having no idea what was in store for .
Where are you, Charles? How co I couldn’t find you? I pondered a bit, saddened by the fact that I couldn’t even et the one guy that I owed so much to.
There were so many answers that I had to find out. So many secrets that I needed to uncover.
And all in all, I just hoped for a single thing in my heart...
"I hope I am not too late," I mumbled as I slowly lay on my back, enjoying the starry view of the sky with a lancholic heart.
