Chapter 656: Chapter 656: Provocation

The spectators were sowhat regretful. After all, Starfire’s team had the fastest progress, and they were most likely to reach the portal first.

However, their luck was really rotten. Without getting any advantageous items, they had managed to maintain the lead through sheer strength and strenuous monster-killing, which had not been easy at all.

They had finally stumbled upon a top-notch treasure chest. If they could polish off the monster guarding this Cursed Treasure Box, it was equivalent to having completed an event, and the rewards would definitely fill their progress bar.

However, a rival team swooped down to reap the rewards just as they were about to harvest their loot.

Of course, it wasn’t exactly robbery. While everyone was scrambling to conquer the Trial Ground, the different teams were also competing against each other.

Direct confrontation was only to be expected upon encountering a team they were unfamiliar with.

The spectators could only sigh regretfully at Starfire’s misfortune. After all, the player team from the Wolverine Guild was formidable.

Their lineup was equally impressive, though not as extensive as Starfire’s.

The opposing team had two Summoners and two Necromancers. The strength of their normal summoned creatures was extraordinary, not to ntion that each of them had two powerful boss-level summons.

Flanking the two Necromancers were two Headless Knights, riding on nightmare beasts similar to those ridden by Li Yao and his team. They had gleaming armor and glowing green dragon spears.

Guarding the two Summoners were two Elf Kings each, controlling the four forces of Light, Darkness, Ice, and Fire. Each Elf King emanated an imposing aura.

The spirits summoned by the Summoners were different from the flesh-and-blood creatures of ancient gods; they summoned Elental Spirits.

These Spirits, lacking blood and flesh, were comparable to the demi-god level Elental Lords and their subordinate half-dinsion creatures under the ancient gods.

Made of pure elental forces, they were born with the ability to cast corresponding magic.

Moreover, their intelligence was more versatile than the Elental Beings of the ancient gods. The four Elf Kings, although re weak projections, demonstrated extraordinary deanor.

The re presence of the four Elf Kings exerted imnse pressure.

Much like the Scorpion King’s original team, the focus of this team clearly lay on the four players capable of summoning creatures.

Ignoring the other team mbers, the eight leader-grade summoning pets called forth by these four players, along with the relative normal pets, was overpowering enough to crush many teams.

They had been doing just that, roaming freely and recklessly as they were fortunate enough to avoid provoking any powerful monster groups.

Such a robust team, in everyone’s view, might fare differently against Starfire’s number one team under normal circumstances. However, in this situation, they were surely dood.

“This team is sick. Be careful, everyone.” Unparalleled Enchantress kicked a monster away and rushed, “What’s the plan, guild leader?”

“Should we retreat first? Otherwise, they’ll just take advantage of us,” Sister Li sensed a looming crisis.

The opposing team was too strong. Although they were fairly safe dealing with the monsters, their health and statuses were not promising, and the team was in disarray. Overcoming them wouldn’t be easy, and there was a real risk of everything going sideways.

“No need, just focus on dealing with the remaining monsters. They can’t get past while I’m here,” Li Yao said flatly.

At this point, he had already broken free from the monsters and arrived at the edge of the Shattered Continent where they were located.

The two broken continents are at least six to seven hundred yards apart, and the only connecting route is a path ford from fragnts of nurous broken continents, resembling a bridge.

Like floating continents, these paths only allow for five or six people to walk side by side, narrowing down to accommodate only one or two people in certain locations.

The Void was right beside them, making the environnt dangerous to the extre.

“Alright, be careful.” Everyone knew that if Li Yao wasn’t confident, he wouldn’t make such a claim. They put their other thoughts aside and concentrated on handling the monsters.

“Oh ho, isn’t this the Starfire Guild?” The team leader, nicknad Iron Drum due to his love for wine, asked loudly, “Is this the guild that Prairie Fire is in, what’s his na again?”

“It’s Prairie Fire, the one that others call the Hunting King,” Blood Claw responded disdainfully.

“Hee hee, our boss is the modest type, just like that Chinese saying, ‘In the absence of a tiger in the mountains, the monkey claims to be the king,’ truly ridiculous.” Snake Queen laughed coldly.

“The Chinese always glorify themselves, excessively arrogant. Their so-called top guild, in the global arena, amounts to nothing more than a speck of dust. Yet in the Chinese region, they are praised as gods. As long as they’re happy.” After mumbling to himself, Iron Drum declared loudly, “You are that Prairie Fire, right? You’ve seen the situation. You must also understand your predicant. How about this, hand over your Sword of Justice and armor to , we won’t want this treasure chest and we’ll even let you guys go safely. How’s that?”

“Damn moron.”

Li Yao couldn’t even be bothered to engage with such idiocy.

“Dumbass, who are you calling? Just because people jokingly call you ‘Hunting King’, you start to believe it, huh? Only a clown like you would scramble for such a title.” Iron Drum sneered.

“It’s a pity our boss isn’t here. Otherwise, there would be no room for you to show off. I estimate that as soon as you see our boss, you can’t even withstand one arrow. You seriously think way too highly of yourself.” Snake Queen spoke scornfully.

Imdiately, the crowd behind them echoed in agreent, showing that in their minds, their “boss” was incredibly powerful. They rely viewed Li Yao as having a hollow reputation.

Li Yao couldn’t even be bothered to respond. Let alone fussing over the title of ‘Hunting King’, even if he did care, it was a complete waste of ti to argue with people like these.

If they truly believed that they could beco invincible just through a few summoned pets, then that was really a joke.

So Li Yao simply activated Dark Touch, lifted his rifle, and straightforwardly set up his aim.

Seeing Li Yao raising his gun, the opposing side burst into laughter. With a few hundred yards distance between the two continents, and they hadn’t yet reached the edge, the total distance would add up to seven or eight hundred yards. Regardless of whether his shooting range could reach, how could he possibly hit with such extre distance?

The firearms in the ga were too archaic. Their precision and accuracy were incomparable with modern weapons. Even those military personnel who played with antique firearms in the ga couldn’t be so proficient.

“Co on, co on, I’m standing right here, even letting my pets make way for you, pray shoot your shot. If you can hit, I’ll be your grandson.” A male Summoner standing behind the summoned creatures scorned.

“Don’t ss around.” Iron Drum frowned.

“Boss, don’t worry. It’ll be a miracle if he could hit from this distance.” The Summoner responded.

Snake Queen also added, “Anyway, letting them slug it out with the monster, it’s not too boring to play around with this so-called ‘Hunting King’ in the anti.”

The spectators also got excited. The tension between the two sides was escalating. Of course, the majority of spectators shared the sa view as the small team, firmly believing that hitting the target from such a distance was nothing but a pipe dream. They were all waiting to see the high-level player make a fool of himself…
