Chapter 608: Chapter 608: The Terrifying God of Nightmares

The remaining ogres realized that no matter how many players they killed, their numbers didn’t seem to diminish.

If things continued this way, they would be outnumbered and outmatched, despite their own considerable numbers. They had already sacrificed too much for this ceremony, which was why they chose to retreat temporarily.

The players were now in a frenzied state. This boss was the last obstacle. If they could kill it, the Divine Artifact would be theirs. Whose hands it would end up in would depend on personal skill and luck.

“Enough talk. This is the last hurdle. Even the gods covet this treasure, so its value is incomparable,” one player explained.

“We’ve co this far. After we kill this thing, it’s every man for himself.”

The leaders of the various guilds expressed their consensus via their private channels. The battle was reaching its peak.

Although the High Priest had a large physique, the space around him was limited. Not everyone could attack him, especially the lee fighters. After all, the space around him was limited.

No guilds were backing down. They strove to seize the area surrounding the High Priest, knowing that once he fell, the spoils would not be insignificant, regardless of whether or not they received the Divine Artifact.

The boss in this Warcraft world, enhanced by the Nightmare God, was expected to drop valuable items.

In no ti, a hailstorm of attacks descended on the High Priest.

“You insignificant insects, daring to defy the majesty of the gods, you’re courting death,” the High Priest – or rather, the aspect of the Nightmare God that resided in him – roared.

As a powerful Ogre Priest, he naturally had two heads. His two skulls rotated, and four rays of darkness shot out from them.

The beams instantly traveled about 200 yards, piercing countless players in their path. One mont, these players were in a state of excited anticipation, but the next, they collapsed to the ground, spawning flashes of white light as they fell.

Before the players could react, an eerie array erupted around the High Priest, resulting in a circle that spanned 200 yards around him. The following explosion filled the sky with dancing white lights, leaving behind only corpses in its wake.

The battlefield suddenly fell silent, the players unable to believe their own eyes.

This was insane. Can they even survive this, with an attack that killed so many players within a 200-yard radius?

All the players were stunned, horrified by this turn of events. If this continued, there would be no point in playing.

The players who had not initially rushed in to attack now felt intensely relieved, especially those out of the blast range. The ground bore a clear mark of the array’s devastation.

A fine line marked the difference between life and death. All the players could do was swallow hard, overwheld by the terrifying power of the Warcraft boss.

“If this scares them, imagine their reactions to those actual world bosses who can kill millions with a single move,” Li Yao remarked casually. He had experienced countless formidable bosses in his previous life.

“Their spirits are too fragile. We still need their help.” Li Yao chuckled, his voice turning hoarse as he yelled, “What are we waiting for? The boss is casting! We join forces, switch in turns. The cetery is less than ten minutes away. We’re all Level 20 now, so we won’t lose levels upon death. We can grind it down. A boss this strong must drop so epic loot when it dies. Not to ntion, imagine the experience points it can give. We might all level up!”

Li Yao’s words snapped everyone back to reality. They realized they had been killed multiple tis and had dropped to Level 20, but they wouldn’t lose any more levels upon death, so what was there to fear? They had nothing to lose.

“Screw it. Let’s attack!”

“Everyone needs to contribute. We’ll keep an eye on each other. If any guild backs down or doesn’t contribute, we’ll gang up against them once the boss is dead.”

“That sounds fair, we either advance or retreat together.”

The leaders’ channel quickly reached a consensus. While so individuals had initially contemplated withdrawing to benefit later, this comnt made them think twice.

“That’s not enough. Form an alliance of guilds here and now. If any other guild tries to join, we’ll stand together in opposition.”

“Well said, we can’t let soone else take advantage of us.”

“Agreed, let’s block other guilds and players.”

These leaders were decisive. They had suffered losses, and now they could not back down. If they didn’t secure the treasure this ti, they wouldn’t be able to explain themselves later.

“Attack!”

The players, upon receiving the orders, had no choice but to charge forth once again, unleashing a barrage of attacks on the boss.

“Fools, giving ti to cast.” The High Priest sneered. “It’s been a while since I last used the Power of Fel Energy.”

As the Nightmare God spoke, two green rays of light appeared around him. A winged Fear-Lord Demon and a Lord of the Abyss wielding a giant weapon appeared before everyone.

The sight of these new threats made all the players blanch. Now there were not just one, but three bosses.

The two sides clashed once more, and the battlefield instantly beca chaotic. With the terrifying bosses present, any formation or main tanker beca aningless.

The three bosses rampaged through the crowd of players. Each of their attacks resulted in multiple player deaths.

At the start, the range attackers were relatively safe under the protection of the lee fighters. However, with the onslaught of the three bosses, even the ranged attackers were slain in droves.

The battle was a massacre. Even those in the rear were reshuffled. The players, filled with bloodlust, were now at Level 20 and cared little for their own survival.

Players were dying every mont, but many were also being revived and rejoining the fight.

The Nightmare God was powerful and possessed an intimidating amount of health. Despite the non-stop attacks from the players, his health was rapidly decreasing.

However, the Nightmare God was becoming increasingly enraged as he was unable to absorb any soul power in his current state, preventing him from fully manifesting in this world.

His current body, a priest, was unable to exert even one hundred-thousandth of his true power. The indignity of being in such a vulnerable situation, constantly pressured by these insignificant beings, frustrated him.

“I’m relieved these guys have so guts. If I had to face this thing alone, I’d probably struggle.” Li Yao admitted to himself. With his current abilities, fighting against a boss like this presented a real challenge.

“I’ll let them continue the fight for now. I need to take a break.” Li Yao said, casting his gaze to several hidden locations where he had noticed rogue players sneaking about, clearly planning sothing…
