The two of them walked out of the corridor without incident, only to discover they were in a huge and magnificent city. However, this city was suffused with a sense of age, appearing decayed and old, lacking vitality.
Only the bizarre howls echoing occasionally suggested that there still were living creatures in this city.
"It’s strange; this is supposed to be a prison. How could they let us leave so easily? And except for the monster we just encountered, we haven’t run into any other creatures," Demoness said, frowning.
"There are two possibilities. Either sothing major is about to happen, and everyone is gathering over there, not to ntion there wouldn’t be too many monsters like we just saw. Or it’s due to our Madman level, but our perspective is too narrow for now; let’s go up to the top of that building and see,"
Li Yao pointed at a tall building not far away.
"The entrance is marked by crossed swords, it should have been a military place in the past. But the entrance has collapsed, and the building is incomplete, probably abandoned," Demoness assessed.
Both of them could stealthily proceed with caution, encountering a guard along the way. Compared to the prison guards, this one was much weaker, enough for Demoness to handle.
Demoness could manage one guard, but one was her limit, which showed the strength of monsters here. Clearly, this was a low-level patrol. Li Yao controlled the spirit yet learned less than the prison guards. Forced to kill him, he obtained several Black Crystals.
And Demoness’s lantern absorbed the opponent’s lantern power, upgrading to an excellent level.

"You’ve seen the purple aura floating in the city, right? This should be the spirit of the world, Ammon’s aura. These auras temporarily stabilize the space here, otherwise, the Void storm would tear it apart," Li Yao explained.
"There’s imasurable danger outside. I suspect that the ntor placed sothing in Middle Earth, and still need to find a simple way to get there. I just don’t know if there’s a Teleportation Array here," Demoness expressed her concern.
"Well, although Shadow Moon might make things difficult for you, it shouldn’t put things here. Usually, it wouldn’t be so lax here. As you saw, dealing with an ordinary guard with your skills was already the limit. During normal tis, a squad of guards could make it hard for players to move forward," Li Yao said.
"Usually strict defense, huh? But the prison is just like that," Demoness didn’t quite understand Li Yao’s assessnt, not knowing much about the Sub-dinsion.
"Earlier I wasn’t sure, but now I am," Li Yao pointed at a building on the left, "Look, that should be the prison we ca from. Did you notice anything unusual?"
Demoness hadn’t noticed initially, but upon Li Yao’s prompt, she looked carefully and indeed saw the prison’s sign.
"No way, when we ca out, we clearly were inside the Inner City wall, but the prison is outside the city wall and separated by several buildings..."
Li Yao explained, "Simply put, it’s a high-level passage, not for ordinary people to use, only visible to and passable by those with Madman level nine and above. If I’m not mistaken, when this city was glorious, even reaching level nine creatures were very few, likely the city’s upper echelon. Not just the prison, but the city’s other buildings are similar. Generally, the city’s roads or portals divide into four levels: below level three, below level six, below level nine, and after level nine. But further verification is needed."

lodious bell sounds echoed throughout the city, and they saw that the previously empty city started to have figures appear, individuals erging.

"The third level is those we just killed, the monsters with strong weapons and equipnt, controlling the city, forming the city’s leadership,"
"The fourth layer should be those wearing Priest robes. These Priests might appear emaciated and like strange-faced dolls, but they are undoubtedly the city’s decision-makers, wielding authority and possibly communicating with Ammon. Their Madman level is likely over nine,"
As if verifying Li Yao’s words, upon arriving at Central Square, the crowd indeed split into strata, with those in Priest robes at the center, equipped individuals outside them, and commoners at the outermost."
"Originally I intended to leave directly, but now it seems they are about to sacrifice Ammon. See, the people in the prison are being brought out,"
Following Li Yao’s direction, Demoness looked towards the prison, and indeed, saw nurous people piled behind carts, so players, and other creatures.
Demoness couldn’t help shivering, had it not been for Li Yao, she too would have beco one of them this ti.
Typically, people co to such places with a Substitute Doll. But in such situations, being sacrificed might prevent one from regaining consciousness, let alone using a Substitute Doll.
Without using a Substitute Doll, death would send one back to the main dinsion, with losses so great that even top experts would find it hard to bear.
"So, what’s your plan?" Demoness asked.
Li Yao chuckled, "Why have you beco so cautious here? You know this was once the Holy city, plenty of treasures for sure. Just collecting casually here could yield a lot of good stuff. Then, such a grand sacrificial ritual, with imnse soul energy, is just perfect for enhancing our lanterns. Leaving without trying would be too regrettable."
"Seems like I’ve been timid. You’re right, such a significant Sacrifice, unless sothing trendous happens, it surely won’t be interrupted; this is indeed a good opportunity."...
