Chapter 1753: Chapter 1753: Leaving the Tower
“I’ll go up and take a look first.”
The chanical Avatar went directly upstairs, while everyone else waited below.
The Arcane Mage smiled wryly, “Ah, my situation is very complicated, not as you might think. But I suppose you’re not too interested in an old man’s affairs, so I won’t waste words. Rest assured, I have indeed sothing to ask of you, especially you, Prairie Fire. With strength so formidable, how could I set a trap?”
Soon, the chanical Avatar ca down, and Li Yao led everyone upstairs.
This ti, it really felt like entering the Arcane Tower, no longer just a corridor, but like the interior of a castle.
Following the Arcane Mage, the group arrived in a room filled with books. An old mage was engrossed in a heavy magic book, not even looking up as they entered, as if completely imrsed in the text.
“You go complete the mission; I’ll have a chat with the Arcane Mage,” Li Yao said.
Everyone else’s tasks, especially Sister Li’s, were crucial for her growth in strength.
The Arcane Mage smiled wryly, “Now do you believe ?”
Li Yao nodded, “You have a dual personality?”
“Far worse than that. I’ve been eroded by demonic energy, and it’s spirit erosion at that. During the great war, I did not flee the battlefield. I returned here rely to heal my wounds, only to find it impossible in the short term. Fearing I would transform into a demon and go berserk, I imprisoned so creatures to serve as energy for the Arcane Tower, then cast a spell to exile myself, projecting the Arcane Tower to a deep sea in the Abyss.” The Arcane Mage’s voice was full of bitterness.
“Who would have thought my condition would worsen, splitting into two soul bodies, one the original , the other my demonic self. I had no choice but to put myself into slumber as well. Unexpectedly, years ago, a powerful force descended here, awakening my demonic soul, attracted by that force. Over the years, I’ve been fighting it, but sadly, as the demonic self gains strength, my true self remains suppressed.”
Li Yao frowned, “Was that force a broken magic wand containing the power of ti?”
“Correct. The demonic self, though unsure how to return the Arcane Tower to its original plane, managed to project the tower back to the main plane through research on the magic wand. The tower now exists between two planes, designed to attract many people, gain power through slaughter, ultimately killing . anwhile, I hope to be rescued. This mage friend arrived, giving a chance to briefly regain control over my body, so I arranged for him to be here. This appearance is because, though you heavily injured , the demon suffered more, letting regain control over myself.”
Li Yao nodded, “I understand roughly. How do you want to help?”
With a wry smile, the Arcane Mage said, “I hope you can reach the top floor, where the magic wand and my body are. It would be best if you could kill the demon soul. If not, then kill , for I would rather die than beco a demon.”
“I will, but you’ll need to be patient,” Li Yao said.
“It’s alright. It’ll take so ti before a conclusion is reached, especially since he is injured this ti,” the Arcane Mage said after a mont of silence, “It’s been millennia. What beca of the kingdom?”
“The kingdom no longer exists. By kingdom, I an yours,” Li Yao briefly ntioned the situation outside.
The Arcane Mage’s face was full of lancholy, “The Eternal Well is gone, Her Majesty has completely fallen, and our world is shattered. Heh, what is the aning of my life now? The war was won, but the cost was too heavy.”
Li Yao remained silent, no consolation could change such matters.
“That’s all then. I’m tired, I need to rest. My young kinsman, take this key. When you have ti, it can bring you and your friends to this level. I’ll sever the main plane entrance, to prevent more harm,” the Arcane Mage handed Li Yao a purple key.
Li Yao accepted the key and nodded, “I’ll do it as soon as possible.”
“Though you are powerful, the demon has imprisoned many Abyssal creatures over the years, they are not to be underestimated. Be careful,” exhausted, the Arcane Mage waved his hand, “My young kinsman, I trust you.”
Upon saying so, the Arcane Mage’s figure dissolved into sparkles of light, disappearing before Li Yao.
Li Yao sighed. Though just a ga, it was always poignant. For him it’s a ga, but for them, this world is their reality.
Li Yao shook his head slightly. Can it really be distinguished, if our reality isn’t soone else’s ga world?
After a while, Sister Li and the others returned, “How do we leave?”
“Mission accomplished?” Li Yao asked.
Sister Li nodded, “Confird the Great Mage’s safety, obtained a handwritten letter, enough to report to the ntor and complete the mission.”
“That’s good.” Li Yao handed the key to the Blue Dragon Queen.
The Blue Dragon Queen closed her eyes to sense for a mont, then, with an obscure incantation, opened a portal to the outside world.
Li Yao stepped out to find himself back on the shore, where the Nagas awaited.
“What of our people?” the six-ard Naga asked.
Li Yao sighed, “The first few levels are too perilous, virtually no chance of survival, with many world-class monsters. I didn’t see them on the upper levels.”
The six-ard Naga fell silent, finally saying, “It’s their fate, rember our agreent.”
“Of course. A major event is unfolding on the continent, a great war is imminent. I need to quickly complete a transaction with you. You can send soone to Desolate Port or Sandy Harbor to discuss with Miss Li for future interactions,” Li Yao introduced Sister Li.
“Can she represent you?” the six-ard Naga frowned.
Li Yao explained, “The lady may not know, I manage the strategic direction, my deputy here handles all specific matters. She has full authority, you need not worry about that.”
“Very well. Tomorrow morning at Desolate Port, my envoy will co. We can discuss trading terms then,” said the six-ard Naga.
“That’s best,” Li Yao was delighted. With the war approaching, Starfire had nowhere to hide, nor needed to.
It was both a disaster and an opportunity. Gaining resources unavailable on the continent could greatly benefit Starfire.
The group left the coast, and Li Yao briefly explained the arrangent with the six-ard Naga, then said, “You should return and report on the mission, start preparing for battle. I need to handle one more thing.”
“Big brother, you’re going to fight again without us?” Tongtong said discontentedly.
Li Yao said, “Other things can wait, but gifts for my ntor cannot. It won’t take much ti, at most a day, then I’ll return to the guild to prepare for battle. Tongtong, you are responsible for Star Shine and the World Tree’s evolution, better go back and make progress, ensuring the guild’s safety.”
“Alright,” Tongtong looked at Star Shine and the Shadow Beast playing on her shoulder, montarily giving up the thought.
When Li Yao doesn’t summon Star Shine, it follows Tongtong, almost like a dedicated babysitter…
