Chapter 1589: Chapter 1589: Leap
“So it truly is an Annihilation Dragon.” The Green Dragon Princess spoke without any trace of friendliness, her words dripping with killing intent.
In this world, the Five Great Guardian Dragons were all proud beings. To them, anything outside their Dragon Clan was rely a counterfeit, not even worth comparing in terms of bloodline.
Indeed, that was more or less the case. The Five Great Guardian Dragon Clans were races endowed with extraordinary lifespans and unparalleled wisdom, standing at the pinnacle of even the most extraordinary species.
In contrast, Dragon Beasts, no matter how imnsely powerful, lacked such high intelligence. They acted purely based on instinct, much like wild animals.
The Annihilation Dragon before them was no exception. Although categorized as an ancient dragon of the Neutral Continent with a formidable bloodline power, and even sporting a pair of horns, its horns were far from the legendary Dragon King’s, incomparable in both form and aning.
The only advantage was that their horns were genuinely designed for combat. For beings like the Dragon King, Princes, and Princesses, their horns had beco re emblems of bloodlines and were rarely, if ever, used for battle.
“What a terrifying Dragon Beast. If this creature were guarding the second checkpoint, who knows how many people it could stop.” Tongtong sighed softly.
This Annihilation Dragon, though not yet in its pri, had just reached adulthood and was already monstrously powerful in combat.
It bore so resemblance to other drake species on the Neutral Continent, but its body was covered with a dense array of horrifying spikes. These spikes were not rely for defense.
The bone spurs could be launched outward, serving as fearso weapons.
The Annihilation Dragon was enormous in size. On top of that, it was immune to the effects of arrays, leaping between the skies and the ground with ease, causing imnse chaos among the dozen or so players.
Corpses from the players littered the ground. So were crushed flat, so riddled with black bone spurs, and others impaled by its horns and flung through the air—each eting a grueso end.
It must be noted that these players were among the top thousand ranked in military rit for the competition, each exceptionally skilled.
Even so, they were utterly humiliated faced with this Annihilation Dragon, though part of the struggle stemd from their lack of coordination.
“What now? Do we wait, or join the battlefield directly?” Enchantress asked.
The Green Dragon Princess replied, “I’ve already taken control of the Evil Eye, but I’ve been noticed by that individual. He’s likely up there in the rift. If we don’t deal with him, we risk being ambushed.”
“To deal with him, we need to traverse the rift, but that person hasn’t shown themselves yet. Big Brother, did you spot anyone?” Tongtong asked.
“No. That person is either skilled in stealth or hiding within a small cloaking array. Coupled with the obscuring steam, this setting is indeed ideal for concealnt. Additionally, the group may not consist of just one person. They’re observing from above the chasm, likely waiting for sothing to go wrong below so they can take advantage,” Li Yao analyzed.
“That’s highly possible. This is the final chance to claim the first kill. It wouldn’t be surprising if they used extre tactics for the reward. What should we do? We’re probably on their radar as well,” the Green Dragon Princess said with a frown.
Currently, she couldn’t reveal her true form. In the Dream Realm, she had a hundred ways to find hidden enemies. Here, her movents were restrained and cautious. Unlike others who could respawn, she only had one life to spare. While she wasn’t afraid to die, she certainly wouldn’t seek death unnecessarily.
“Don’t forget my Sonic Arrow,” Li Yao said as he nocked another arrow and shot. “While long-range precision is difficult now, sonic detection doesn’t require accuracy.”
Li Yao closed his eyes, focusing intently, then reopened them shortly. “Found them. It’s indeed a group, but they’re well-hidden and scattered. Two of them are positioned close to the rift, clearly to block anyone crossing. They’ve set up strong crossbows. Even if you don’t get instantly killed, being hit may cause you to fall into the depths.”
“So, crossing the rift ans exposing ourselves,” Enchantress noted.
“Exactly. That’s why we’ll catch them off guard first. Enchantress, you’ll team up with . I’ll launch you above them, and you’ll take one out. Tongtong and the Princess follow after—it’ll be safer this way.” Li Yao swiftly devised a plan.
“Good plan,” Enchantress agreed.
Li Yao clenched his fist and said to Enchantress, “You’ll jump ahead of , and I’ll give you a boost.”
“Understood,” Enchantress replied, imdiately grasping his intentions. He intended to use his imnse strength to propel her quickly across the rift and to the enemy’s position above.
Standing in front of Li Yao, Enchantress launched herself into the air with a light leap, her enhanced gear allowing her to jump over two ters high.
“Go!”
Li Yao activated the power of the Dragon Father, punching upward at the sole of Enchantress’s foot.
A damage value in the hundreds floated above Enchantress’s head, but her body soared upward, crossing the chasm more than ten ters wide.
Her ascent continued, eventually soaring over a massive boulder.
After his punch, Li Yao’s figure flickered, propelling himself forward with two bursts of fla from his propellers. In an instant, he surpassed Enchantress and arrived above his target at nearly the sa ti as her.
The steam-filled air muffled vision, but the sound of movent was unmistakable. Below, the two enemies heard the noise and imdiately drew crossbow arrows, swiftly loading and adjusting their aim to shoot down Enchantress from above.
But just as they finished readying their weapons, Enchantress’s eyes glead with sharp light.
Swish, swish…
The two figures swapped places completely. The Death Knight, previously on the ground, suddenly appeared mid-air, while Enchantress now stood below.
What’s more, the strong crossbow that the Death Knight had just ard and prid was now in Enchantress’s hands. Though smaller than the giant war crossbows, this lightweight machine crossbow was designed for maneuverability and worked perfectly in various terrains.
Enchanter, whose secondary class was Tool Thief, had, following Li Yao’s advice, trained in engineering and practiced extensively with war machines. For Starfire players, this was practically a required skill. Initially, they found it tedious, but over ti, many had reaped the benefits and grown enthusiastic about learning.
While Enchantress’s technical proficiency wasn’t top-notch, it wasn’t bad either—especially at such close range, less than a dozen ters.
Click…
With a slight adjustnt to her aim, she pulled the trigger.
Thump…
The massive Steel Arrow tore through the Death Knight’s body, sweeping him off his feet.
Boom…
The arrow exploded on impact, clearly enchanted with a blast effect.
On the other side, Li Yao acted even more decisively. As the other enemy prepared his crossbow, Li Yao launched spider silk at him.
The silk snatched the strong arrow right out of the warrior’s hands and straight into Li Yao’s grasp. As the warrior tried to abandon the bow and switch to lee combat…
Li Yao hurled the Steel Arrow downward. Empowered by the strength of the Dragon Father, the arrow pierced straight through the warrior’s chest, pinning him lifelessly to the ground…
