Looking at Ruby and Amara, who both looked exceptionally sexy this morning, Fate said,
"Ruby, it’s ti to extract a bit of interest from both the church and Prince Nimrod. So, that ans it’s ti to slap so faces, then blackmail and rob this glorious religious institution."
Amara’s eyes began to sparkle at the idea of robbing and looting the church clean. But she also knew it was far too early to allow her new husband to completely fall out with the Church of Divine Promises. Amara knew that the best revenge against the church is the slow grind as they lose everything they value, primarily their wealth and influence.
Fate, seeing how motivated his wives were, said to them,
"Let’s go, ladies, to infinity and beyond as we rob from the rich to give to the even richer."
Both ladies followed Fate up the nurous steps of this massive church. When they arrived at its massive solid wood doors, they were closed with a sign on them reading,
"The sign reads: ’Closed to the general public.’"
Fate was dumbfounded by this sign. Then he looked to the cold-faced Amara, asking,
"Amara, what kind of church is closed to the general public?"
Amara pointed to a far fancier side entrance that had a greeter waiting at a podium serving a line of waiting nobles, like a host would at a popular restaurant. Then Amara said to Fate,
"The main entrance is always closed so that the commoners and poor don’t loiter here asking for money, food, or dical treatnt. As for nobles who need help, it is by appointnt only."
Fate was shocked at this statent. Then he said out loud to Ruby and Amara,
"Damn, this is just like a private country club. No wonder these bastards don’t want to pay any taxes. They are running an exclusive clientele racket. Well, that just ans if only nobles get to pay for treatnt, I can tax them four tis the normal rate I do for nobles."
But Fate failed to realize that the situation was far worse than he thought as Amara pointed out the large closet-sized box next to the main entrance with another sign on it saying,
"The sign read: ’Donation box for the poor and commoners. Donate to be forgiven for your heinous sins.’"
Fate saw that the giant box was overflowing with money. Then a single tear ford on his face and fell to the ground as Fate cried out loud,
"My tax revenue!!"
Amara was quicker than Ruby to act this ti, saying to Fate as she threw a platinum crown on the floor,
"Quick, Fate, soone dropped a platinum crown on the ground!"
Fate turned to look for it. At the sa ti, faster than the eye can track, a vision of beauty in black armor was seen using a glass vial to capture this single tear.
*Swish*
"Gotcha!"
Ruby saw all of this and cried out as Fate picked up the platinum crown,
"Damn you, Amara! You win this round!"
Fate did not get to see any of this since both won completed all of these actions before a normal person could blink. Fate stood back up, feeling slightly better now after he pocketed this newfound wealth.
Since the church dares to scam the poor and disenfranchised, then he needs to do sothing to ensure that their anger is satisfied. So why tax the church four tis the rate nobles pay when six tis is even better?
Looking at Ruby and smiling, Fate said,
"Ruby, be sure to raise our new tax rate on the church by six tis whatever the ridiculous number you’ve already thought of is. Then use one-sixth of that to buy food to feed the poor and holess. I have to keep the rioting masses happy. Now they not only have new hos built on the free labor of mages but free food paid for by the generous contributions to from the church. A win-win situation for everyone."
Ruby nodded and began to plan out how to distribute this gold to feed the already healthy and well-fed mbers of Phoenix Rising. Then Amara suddenly whispered in her ear a way to use this food,
"We have undead and soldiers, Ruby. Why not start a beast legion with that food now as well? We can capture powerful monsters and train them to fight for our use with this food."
Ruby nodded her head in agreent. All of this was done while Fate was still righteously condemning the church for their heinous treatnt of the poor and disenfranchised, so he did not notice anything. After his tax plans were ford, the three proceeded to the noble entrance, and as they ca face to face with the host, he recognized the man that the church has condemned to death as an abomination for his actions of mass murder.
The attendant hopped off of his stool and ran from his pedestal, leaving the nobles in line still waiting. Then the priest called out into the church,
"Bishop Gary Oldman! Bishop Gary Oldman! The abomination is here. Co quick before he kills more innocent people."
Then an old voice full of righteous indignation and authority called out from within this massively expensive church,
"How dare an abomination like you set foot in the house of Vespera, the goddess of life."
Fate had just gotten here, so this kind of reaction was a bit excessive. Looking at Amara with a questioning look, Fate said,
"Amara, this kind of reaction is a bit excessive, isn’t it? I only killed a few thousand people in a single night, then hung their bodies on the gates of the city as a ssage to the rebellious lords who I want to get along with. That’s not too excessive, is it?"
Amara heard about this incident from her sister Ruby and knew that all of these guards and soldiers had already sold their loyalty to King Samuel Bloodsworn and the crown prince. Amara just smiled and, with a cold tone of voice, said to Fate,
"Husband, don’t forget you also burned all of their bodies rather than giving them a funeral like most lords do."
By this point, a plump old man arrived to hear the conversation between Fate and Amara. This man was Bishop Gary Oldman. Fate heard Amara’s words then said,
"That’s true, Amara, but in my infinite rcy, I did not kill their family mbers who are constantly cursing and plotting to kill behind my back. In fact, those family mbers seem to have acquired a lot of gold and wealth from so foreign entity. Since that’s the case, we need to confiscate it all to ascertain where this suspicious money ca from. So thanks for reminding of this issue, Amara."
Fate looked at Ruby and said,
"Ruby, make sure that you carry out this task along with taxing the church."
Ruby nodded her head and responded,
"I will make them bleed crowns, Fate."
When Bishop Gary Oldman heard all of this, he began to shake with righteous anger,
"Fate Grimsever, how dare you blasphe against the goddess Vespera! Have you no sha at all to dare imply that you can tax the living voices of the goddess of life?"
Fate smiled as it was finally showti. First the church, then the prince. Fate wanted to make them bleed crowns today.
