Finally, the day ca for the eting of the lords. Fate had secured a business deal with Fran Gunderson, and the opening of the Baconators was well underway.
With everything set up, Fate, along with Ruby and Amara, greeted the various nobles and guests who had arrived at Shadow Spire Citadel from throughout the Southern Hampshire Plains.
First ca Prince Nimrod Bloodsworn, along with Maria, Kathy, and, sohow, Mary Jane Dawson, who was busy eating at the buffet.
Their presence surprised Ruby but not Fate. He knew that anyti an important event occurred, the hero of the story would find an opportunity to show up.
Ruby began to draw up various scenarios where she could use this to her advantage.
If she wanted to poison the nobles, why not pin the bla on one of these four people, especially if it resulted in tensions forming between the crown and the nobles?
But Ruby, being the spymaster that she was, saw beyond petty politics and instead saw an opportunity to separate the faith of the common people from Mary Jane’s goddess, Vespera.
That’s right. Instead of political intrigue, why not cast bla on the church and their growing need to control every kingdom on the continent? With this thought in mind, she called over Shadow and gave her several very explicit instructions for today’s al.
In particular, she hoped to aim for an even greater goal than just a religious war. Ruby had a plan within a plan being carried out right now.
Fate noticed that Ruby seed to be having a good ti and looked over to Amara, who was only looking at Mary Jane Dawson as if the saintess were the most pathetic woman in the room.
Fate would have to disagree with that statent. Just wait until she gets to know Nimrod’s other harem mbers.
Fate walked over to Nimrod and, putting on a confident expression, said to the hero, "Nimrod, welco to my humble ho. I see you’ve brought three uninvited guests with you today. But that’s no big deal; these won would have shown up either way. Ruby will be sure to have them assigned a proper seating arrangent."
Nimrod sneered at Fate and instead looked at Ruby and Amara, saying to them, "Ruby and Amara, soon enough, both of you will realize that your only true future in this life will be serving , like everyone else. I will give you both so ti to think it over. I’m sure that after today’s events, your future will beco clearer to both of you."
Ruby coldly smiled and responded, "Nimrod Bloodsworn, I’m sure that after today’s events, you will be too busy with your own issues to worry about and Amara."
With that, Fate and his wives left Nimrod and his harem behind.
Fate walked to the center of the room and stood up on the central platform as he spoke to get the attention of the gathered nobles.
"Ladies and gentlen, thank you for coming to the annual eting of the lords. As is tradition, we will be moving to my dining hall, where we will share a al and discuss matters of my territory at the sa ti. So if everyone would please follow ."
Fate noticed the presence of Count Victor Dupont, a rather large and buff man with a long handlebar mustache.
Fate knew that Count Victor was King Samuel’s chosen agent in his territory and the one he trusted to get rid of Fate if his son Nimrod could not.
Count Victor had likely used a lot of money and very little effort to convince the nobles under Fate’s command to turn against him.
Honestly, Fate’s reputation wasn’t the best, so he wasn’t surprised that his subordinate nobles had turned against him.
With a smile on his face, Fate figured that he would be able to turn Count Victor Dupont to his side with a good old-fashioned bribe. After all, what kind of problems couldn’t be solved with money?
Everyone made their way to the dining hall, and soone noticed that they had a priest from The Church of Divine Promises serving blessed water before the al.
As was customary, everyone drank the water and accepted the blessing of Vespera before the eting started.
This was a symbolic blessing, so Fate wasn’t worried about the goddess’s weird side effects that ca with her blessings. Fate, along with Ruby and Amara, all accepted the water and drank it.
Fate noticed the subpar taste of the water and missed the bottled water of his last life. A lot of the water sources here in Eryndor had a funky taste for one reason or another.
Everyone then proceeded to sit at the table and began to prepare for their al, but Nimrod did sothing that surprised everyone present. Standing up, he said to everyone, "Ladies and gentlen, I believe that it would be safer for all involved if you allowed my personal royal chefs to serve this traditional al as you all discuss the issues facing this territory."
Fate slapped his hand on the table and stood up in anger, saying to Nimrod, "Nimrod, what are you doing? Are you trying to imply that the food I would serve my own subordinates is not safe for them to eat?"
Nimrod just sneered at this question and simply said to Fate, "Fate, I’m not saying anything. I know for a fact that anything coming from you cannot be trusted. Now, why don’t you simply enjoy the al I am preparing for everyone and quiet down?"
With this statent, Count Victor Dupont stood up and said, "Duke Fate Grimsever, it is not a problem to have a al made by you at a later ti. But this is a sensitive gathering of every noble in your territory, so it would be best to trust the crown and make sure everyone stays safe."
Fate looked at this noble with contempt on his face and simply sat back down. With a scowl, Fate wondered if he should really try to make peace with these idiots or simply burn them all to death.
There were so many ways to kill them that Fate would have a hard ti picking one. For now, Fate decided to see how things would go with him trying to make peace.
Why does everyone in this world like to make more work for him to do? One of the reasons he decided on the MILF Harem route was to have powerful backers who would handle all of this for him.
But sotis, he does need to take out the trash himself.
Fate hoped this would not be one of those tis. When he gets violent, things don’t end well for anyone.
With a wave of his hand, Fate motioned for Nimrod to continue; he was in a bad mood. Ruby, sitting on his left side, said to Fate, "Fate, don’t worry so much about your plans to make peace with everyone here. I’m sure that everyone will find today’s eting will change the course of not only their lives but the entire kingdom as well."
Fate just looked at Ruby and said, "Ruby, I’m not too worried. These stubborn n and won can all be bought with money, so either way, today will end the way I want it to."
Ruby smiled at her husband. He was right; today would most definitely end the way he wanted, with everyone dead and Fate far wealthier than when he woke up this morning.
As everyone sat down, the als began to be served, with everyone enjoying their food.
Ruby looked out a window and saw a special black flare being fired off into the night sky. With a smile, Ruby knew that her and Amara’s operation had begun.
It started with the elimination of the families of these nobles. Since they were required to bring their entire families with them to Valoria, it’s funny none of these nobles ever considered it may be a bad idea to have all of their heirs in one place at once, especially when Ruby already controlled the entire city.
A second black flare was fired into the sky, notifying Ruby that the troops of Phoenix Rising were on their way to eliminate the noble rebel army that was currently closing in on the border of the city.
