[collapse]

Walking into the house, I barely had ti to react before sothing small and fast launched at like a missile. I caught Eri mid-air, stumbling slightly as she latched onto my neck.

"Ryuu!"

I grinned, ruffling her hair. "How is it going, shorty?"

Ever since the festival, she had been different. More expressive. She actually smiled now, laughed even. The stiff, cautious movents were gone. She didn’t hesitate before hugging people anymore. Progress.

"Good!" she chirped. "Auntie Inko made dango, and she let help!"

"Did you eat more than you made?"

She puffed out her cheeks. "No!"

"Uh-huh. Sure you didn’t."

She huffed but kept clinging to .

Mom walked in from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel. “Why are you here? Skipped class?”

I shrugged. “Your son is too aweso, so they banned from training.”

She didn’t buy it, of course. “Co and help.”

Eri finally let go and ran after Mom into the kitchen, already chattering about dango like it was the biggest event of the century. I followed, rubbing the back of my neck.

The kitchen was warm, filled with the sll of simring broth and sothing frying. Mom pulled a tray of dango from the counter, setting it next to a pot of miso. Eri grabbed a skewer imdiately, bouncing on her heels.

“Blow on it first,” Mom warned, passing an apron.

I raised an eyebrow. “You seriously making wear this?”

She gave a look. I put it on.

Eri looked up at , eyes wide with delight. "Ryuu is cute."

I sighed, already regretting everything. I glanced down. The damn apron had frills on the edges and the words "Kiss the Cook" in bright pink cursive. Fantastic.

Mina was gonna lose her shit if she ever saw this.

I poked Eri’s forehead lightly. "You need glasses, kid."

She giggled. Mom, of course, was just setting the table like she hadn’t just handed an existential crisis along with an apron.

Mom pointed at the food, arms crossed. “Do your magic.”

Eri gasped. “Magic?”

I cracked my knuckles, grabbing a small tin from the counter. “Final Touch.”

Mom groaned. “It is seasoning. Not magic.”

I ignored her, tapping a pinch of spice over the dango, then over the miso. A flick of the wrist, a little mix, and done. The sll deepened, richer. Eri leaned in, inhaling like she had just discovered a new world.

She grabbed a skewer and took a bite. Her eyes widened. “It tastes better!”

Mom clicked her tongue. “It is the sa damn dango.”

Eri shook her head. “No! It is yummier now!”

Mom snatched a piece, chewing like she was trying to prove a point. Then she scowled. “I hate that this actually works.”

I grinned, grabbing my own. “You refuse to believe every ti, only to accept it is better.”

Mom muttered sothing about “unnatural bullshit” and went back to setting the table. Eri giggled, swinging her legs from her seat.

“Ryuu, can you do this to everything?” she asked.

I shrugged. “Pretty much.”

She gasped, eyes shining. “Even candy?”

Mom sighed. “No.”

Eri pouted. “Why not?”

“Because,” Mom said, “if he starts ssing with sweets, you are going to get addicted, and I do not need a sugar-gremlin running around my house. Again.”

Eri gasped again. “I would not…”

Mom shot her a look.

Eri looked away, chewing her dango slower.

I laughed. “Busted.”

Mom set the miso in front of . “Eat before it gets cold.”

I grabbed a bowl, taking a sip. Perfect. Warm, balanced, just salty enough. The kind of thing that settled into you, not just filling but comfortable. The kind of thing that made coming ho feel like sothing solid.

Eri humd, swinging her legs. “We should eat together every day.”

Mom softened a little, ruffling her hair. “That would be nice.”

Eri smiled, stuffing another dango into her mouth.

Mom poured herself a cup of tea, leaning against the counter. “So, what did you do this ti?”

I swallowed my miso. “Huh?”

She raised an eyebrow. “You only co ho during school hours when you are kicked from sothing.”

Eri gasped. “Ryuu got kicked?”

I waved a hand. “Not kicked. Just… not allowed in training.”

Mom sipped her tea. “So, kicked.”

I scowled. “Aizawa said it was for balance. Vlad said it was to keep the fights fair.”

Mom tapped her fingers against the counter. “And the real reason?”

“They are scared of .”

Eri bead. “That ans you are strong!”

Mom rolled her eyes. “That ans he is a nace.”

I shrugged. “Sa thing.”

Mom didn’t argue. She just took another sip of tea, watching like she was waiting for to say sothing else. I didn’t.

She set her cup down. “And the ranking?”

I clicked my tongue. “You saw?”

She nodded. “It was on the news.”

Eri blinked. “What ranking?”

Mom crossed her arms. “Your brother is apparently a pro hero now.”

Eri gasped. “You are?!”

“No,” I said.

Mom gestured vaguely. “He is ranked. He might as well be.”

Eri clapped. “That is so cool!”

I flicked her forehead lightly. “I am still a student.”

She pouted, rubbing her forehead. “But you are famous now!”

I groaned. “Don’t remind .”

Mom sat down across from . “So, what are you going to do about it?”

I grabbed another skewer. “Nothing.”

Mom stared at . “Nothing?”

I chewed. “What do you want to do? Write a letter to the Hero Commission? ‘Dear assholes, please remove from your dumbass list’?”

Mom sighed. “You could at least prepare for the attention.”

“I already do.” I gestured vaguely. “Got my na copyrighted, my rch locked down, and my accounts handled.”

Mom pinched the bridge of her nose. “Of course you did.”

Izuku stumbled through the door looking like he lost a fight with a at grinder. His suit was torn, knuckles split, and there was a fresh bruise forming on his cheek. He groaned, barely inside before his eyes landed on sitting at the table with an empty bowl, sipping tea, and popping dango into my mouth like I had not a single concern in the world.

"Must be nice," he muttered, dropping his bag near the door.

I licked so syrup off my thumb. "Oh, it is."

Eri gasped, scrambling down from her seat. "Izuku!" She ran up and grabbed his sleeve, eyes wide. "Are you okay?"

He smiled, patting her head. "I am fine, Eri-chan. Just training."

She frowned at the state of his suit. "You don't look fine."

Mom clicked her tongue, wiping her hands on a towel. "You should see the other guy, huh?"

Izuku slumped into a chair, rubbing his shoulder. "Sothing strange happened."

I popped another dango into my mouth, barely looking at him. "What, you finally hit puberty?"

He ignored , staring at the table. "No, really. During training, sothing new just... happened. An ability I didn't have before."

Mom poured him a bowl of miso, setting it down in front of him. "That sounds concerning. You are still growing into your Quirk?"

He hesitated, then nodded. "I think so."

I reached over and punched his leg. "Well, obviously. You still haven't maxed out the power. You are playing catch-up, dumbass."

He winced, rubbing the spot. "That is not the point."

Eri tilted her head. "What was it?"

He looked at her, choosing his words carefully. "Black tendrils. Like whips. They just appeared out of nowhere when I got overwheld."

Mom frowned. "That doesn’t sound normal."

Izuku shook his head. "It is not."

I leaned back, chewing slowly. "So, let get this straight. You got backed into a corner, freaked out, and your Quirk just… made sothing up on the spot?"

He exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah. It wasn’t just an accident either. It felt… intentional."

Oh good, now the broccoli gets tentacles. Just what this school needed… a hentai protagonist arc.

I glanced at Mom, who was watching him closely. She wasn’t dumb. She knew sothing didn’t add up, but she wasn’t pressing.

"Can you control it?" I asked.

Izuku shook his head. "Not yet. It was wild. Unstable."

Mom crossed her arms. "Is it dangerous?"

He hesitated. "I don’t know. Maybe. I will need to train it."

I snorted. "Great. So now, on top of breaking your bones, you are gonna be flailing around like an overgrown squid?"

Eri gasped. "Like an octopus!"

“No Eri. We like Octopuses.”

“That is rude.” Izuku groaned. "And it is not like that."

Mom sighed. "Izuku, if this is sothing new, you need to be careful. You can’t just throw yourself into it without knowing what it does."

He nodded. "I know. Aizawa-sensei said the sa thing."

I stretched my arms behind my head. "So what is your plan? Hope it doesn’t show up again until you figure it out?"

Izuku shook his head. "No. I need to understand it. Train it properly."

Mom looked at . "Will you help him?"

I scoffed. "What, babysit him while he flails around like a malfunctioning hentai monster? Pass."

Izuku glared. "That is not what it is!"

Izuku’s glare was nothing but Mom's glare was enough for to cave in. I exhaled through my nose, dragging a hand down my face. “Fine. I will help my stupid brother control his stupid powers… again.”

Izuku straightened. “Wait, really?”

I gave him a look. “No, I just said that for fun. Dumbass.”

Eri clapped. “Yay! Training!”

Mom sighed. “Not in my house. Take it sowhere you won’t break anything.”

Izuku frowned. “We won’t…”

“Shut up,” I said, already getting up. “We will use the training grounds.”

Mom didn’t argue. She just grabbed a dishcloth and went back to cleaning. Eri hopped off her chair, bouncing after us.

Izuku stretched his arms as we arrived the place. “Alright, I think I can-”

I grabbed a broom from the side and swung it at his face.

He barely ducked in ti. “What the hell?!“

I spun the broom once, resting it on my shoulder. “What? Thought you needed stress to activate it.”

Izuku groaned, rubbing his temples. “Not like that!”

“Then do it properly, nerd.” I swung again.

The broom hit Izuku’s shoulder with a solid whack, and he stumbled back, cursing under his breath. “Would you stop?!”

I spun the handle in my hand and rested it against my shoulder again. “I am stopping. I have been stopping. That is why you are still standing.”

He clenched his jaw, rolling his arm. “I don’t think it works like that.”

I took another swing. He barely managed to dodge, but his foot caught on the uneven ground, and he almost ate dirt. “Then start thinking differently. You said stress triggered it. I am giving you stress.”

“I ant in battle!” Izuku threw up his arms. “Not… whatever this is!”

Eri sat on a nearby rock, legs swinging. She wasn’t laughing, but she looked way too interested in this. “Izuku, maybe you have to really feel it.”

Izuku shot her a look. “Oh, really feel it? Like the bruises Ryuu’s giving aren’t enough?”

She nodded. “Maybe it only works when you think soone is really gonna hurt you.”

I humd. “Could be. Maybe if I chase him with sothing sharper…”

Izuku paled. “No.”

I sighed, twirling the broom again. “Then hurry up and awaken your quirk, dumbass.”

I watched him flinch. Not from pain. From fear.

The sa kind Izuku always tried to hide.

So I did what I do best.

I gave him sothing worse to focus on.

I raised the broom again.

“Activate your BDSM noodles, waterworks. Or I turn this broom into a suppository.”

WHACK.

“Stress triggered. I am stress.”
