"I heard from the generals I t at the city walls... I’m very sorry" Xavier mumbled, even though it wasn’t completely his fault, he still shared so of the bla for his death.

"What are you sorry for, it’s not your fault he’s dead, he died in line of duty along with many others, may their souls rest in peace" She spoke.

Her spirit was lifted, even though her husband was dead, her son returned to her, this was a cause to celebrate.

"Xavier, I didn’t ask you, I saw a lady following behind us, and I’m sure she’s right outside the door, who is she? She’s a beastkin right, I noticed she has a horn?"

"Yes, she ca with from over there, I can’t go into details right now, since I still have work to do" Xavier replied.

"Work, what kind of work? Don’t tell you’re thinking of joining the war, you’re a male, you can’t be forced to join the war even though you attend the academy, and the Queen can understand you are coming from battle" Xavier’s mother spoke as she held his arms.

"I’m going to be fine, and I’ve already spoken to the general about joining"

"What is wrong with you, you’re just like your father" She shouted, her voice loud enough for the maids downstairs to hear the sound.

"Please, I don’t want to lose you too, you can’t fight on the frontlines"

Xavier stayed quiet for a mont after she shouted. He could see the fear in her eyes, even though she looked angry, Xavier knew she only did that because she was afraid of losing him.

"I’m not going to the frontlines," he said calmly. "Not like that."

She frowned, still holding onto his arm. "Then what do you an?" she asked.

"There’s a small team being prepared," Xavier spoke, he wanted to tell her more but he just couldn’t as that would only cause her to be even more worried but it didn’t help.

Her expression didn’t soften.

"That’s even worse," she said almost imdiately. "A small team ans more danger. Also, what is a small team going to do, sneak behind enemy lines?"

Xavier couldn’t speak and her jaw dropped the next mont, "Absolutely not, the reason Avalon hadn’t fallen is because of exactly that, if we lead the attack it would go now where, because the kingdom would be left bare, and we wouldn’t win in open plains"

Xavier sighed lightly.

"I was already out there, Mother," he said. "And I can say this with certainty, Avalon would fall, it’s only a matter of ti, unlike Avalon the demons aren’t wasting resources or n, they are using beasts, and it’s just to tire the army out, and when the ti reaches, the actual force would strike."

She shook her head. "Even with that," she said quickly. "You can stay here, with . That is enough, I’m sure everything is going to be alright, you don’t need to join them"

Xavier looked at her, his expression firm now.

"It’s not enough for ."

Those words made her go silent.

Even though Xavier had no idea how strong the demon queen would be, he knew deep down she would definitely be stronger than him, but this was a chance he couldn’t miss.

Since a team had already been assembled, this ant they were powerful enough to entrust this mission to them, and with that Xavier was confident.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. Then she looked away, her grip on him loosening.

"...You’ve already decided, haven’t you?" she asked quietly.

Xavier didn’t answer imdiately, he waited for a few seconds before speaking.

"...Yes."

She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, she had no idea what had happened to Xavier during these past weeks, but she knew he had already made up his mind, there was nothing she could do.

"I knew it," she whispered. "You really are like your father..."

But this ti, her voice wasn’t angry, she was just tired. She stepped back slowly before speaking again.

"Then at least promise sothing," she said.

Xavier nodded. "What is it?"

"Co back," she said, her eyes eting his again. "No matter what happens... co back alive."

Xavier held her gaze, he knew it wasn’t a guarantee, because no matter what happened he would either stop the demon queen or die trying, there was no in between.

"...I will," Xavier replied, there was no hesitation in his voice.

His mother studied his face for a mont, then gave a small nod.

"Alright," she said softly. "Then I won’t stop you, when do you leave?"

"I was told to report to the academy later today, the scouts are still in the process so I don’t think it’ll be today" Xavier answered.

"You have nothing to worry about, I’m pretty strong you should know" Xavier said with a smile on his face causing his mother to chuckle as she sat down.

"Ohh, I forgot, we should prepare a feast for you, I’m sure you haven’t eaten sothing good in days, hold on" His mother jumped with joy and exited the room.

Xavier also exited the room and then walked towards his own room, he pushed the door open and stepped inside with a smile on his face.

His room was spotless, everything was neatly arranged and in place, Star followed him inside and sat down on a chair close to his bed.

"Is this your room?" She asked.

"Yes, I grew up in here, I moved here when I was 2, I think... It’s still the sa"

"Looks good from a human perspective, you should decorate it with more shiny objects like gold and jewels, ohh...now I miss my cave" Star mumbled as Xavier stood up from the bed and walked behind her.

She didn’t pay attention to him and continued looking around until she felt his hands around her neck, then he began chanting sothing and then pulled away.

She felt nothing and wanted to ask what that was but Xavier was on his knees, with his head touching the ground.
