The girls couldn’t continue eating as Miss Maria was staring at them without saying anything as she continued eating.
"I knew it was too easy" Martha spoke.
"There’s no way this is a coincidence; she followed us here; why did she follow us here? She could have sent soone to follow us," Mabel said.
"We’re going to get punished; there’s no reason we won’t get punished; it’s Miss Maria," Isabella added.
"Is Miss Maria harsh? I’ve never looked at her like that," Mary spoke.
"Not as harsh as my sister, but yes, and I bet you, we’ll definitely get punished. Let’s just eat and accept our fate," Freya spoke.
The girls continued eating, but most of them had already lost their appetite; soon, the group put together the bill and called the woman in charge.
"Thank you, hope you enjoyed the food"
"Yes, it was amazing," Mabel said.
"What if we just get up, leave, and run back to the academy?" Edith said.
"What good would that do us...hey Crystal, what are you..."
"Good afternoon, Miss Maria," Crystal greeted.
"Afternoon, how are you girls doing, what are you doing here?" Maria asked.
"We wanted to visit Hannah and ask about her mother, then we got hungry and ca here to eat," Crystal replied, and now the rest of the girls joined her.
"Is that so? I’m the one that gave Hannah permission to go see her mother, and I check on them, so she’s doing fine; you’re going to see her in due ti, but sneaking out of the academy is the wrong thing to do," Maria replied.
"Are you going to punish us?" Isabella asked.
"Punish you, of course...but not what you expect; let’s head back to the academy; I have things in mind," Maria spoke as she stood up, placing coins on her desk.
Maria walked out and was in front as the girls followed behind her; apart from eating, they did nothing.
Maria is friends with Hannah’s mother, so she knew she wasn’t sick; Hannah was a beast and would be unable to control herself during this ti, aning her tails would be visible, so she had to keep her locked up.
Hannah’s mother was already good at controlling herself so it wasn’t a problem for her.
"We’re done for; I wonder what punishnt awaits us," Martha spoke.
"There’s no use thinking about it; let’s just wait till we get to the academy, and rember I told you this was a bad idea," Isabella said.
"But you ca with us" Mabel replied.
"Of course I did, what else should I have done, left you to go on your own?"
"I’m sure it’s not going to be sothing worse; maybe we’ll clean or sothing," Edith spoke.
It didn’t take long before they arrived back at the academy where Dora and Iris were waiting.
"Open it," Maria spoke. Iris opened her spatial space, and all the girls were instructed to go in, and Maria followed them.
They appeared in an open space with grass stretching endless, no structure was in sight, just plain grass.
"You must be wondering why you’re here; this isn’t really a punishnt; it’s more like a help; during these past days, your girls have been training 3 - 4 tis a day; why?" Maris asked causing them to look at each other.
"Why? Cause we want to get stronger" Isabella answered.
"Why do you want to get stronger? I’m sure you have a reason, Crystal, why do you want to get stronger?" Maria asked her.
"Uhmm... cause..." Crystal had nothing to say; of course, she wanted to get stronger and beco a good mage, but she had no concrete reason; if she wasn’t a noble, she might not even attend the academy.
"Freya, why do you want to get stronger?" Maria asked.
"To surpass my sister" Freya answered almost imdiately.
"I see; what about you, Isabella?"
"To best Ethan in a match, and then beco the strongest mage in the kingdom and earn the title of Grand Mage," Isabella replied.
"Oh, there hasn’t been a Grand Mage in a long ti, so have you made progress on your own, or are you stuck?"
"Are you going to help us train?" Crystal asked.
"Yes, when I see potential in soone, I like to help them realize that potential" Maria said.
"Really, what should we start with?" Edith asked.
"It seems you all have forgotten that I’m one of the heads of the academy, speaking to so casually," Maria said with a smile.
"Miss Maria" Edith quickly bowed her head.
"The most important thing for a mage is Mana, but having a large amount of Mana wouldn’t necessarily guarantee victory"
"A mage would do anything in their power to win, so we’ll start with this, that tree there," Maria pointed, and the girls turned around to find a tree.
"From here it’s going to take so seconds to run over to the tree and back, so I want you to reach the tree and back, if you don’t reach the tree and return before 20 seconds, you’ll repeat it, and repeat it till you get it, start" Maria spoke and sat down on a wooden chair which also suddenly appeared.
The girls got on with it, running at full speed to reach the tree, but it was almost impossible for them to reach the tree and return under 20 seconds.
After the first try, they all returned, looking at Maria to tell them if they passed or failed, but she didn’t speak till Edith turned around and started again.
The girl repeated the cycle ten tis till they were now exhausted, apart from Martha, who was slower than the rest but had much stamina from continuously replenishing herself.
"Miss Maria, It’s impossible to run back and forth in under twenty seconds," Isabella said.
"Well then, it seems I misjudged you; we’re leaving," she spoke.
"Wait, we can do it" Edith spoke.
"We’ve tried and tried, how do you expect us to reach it? We’re even more tired than when we started" Mabel spoke.
"That’s the thing, she didn’t tell us to run to the tree; she just said reach it and co back," Edith spoke.
"That’s right, we are we even running"
Isabella said as she turned around and stretched her hands forward, creating water, and then she jumped; in front of her, the water turned into ice, taking her towards the tree.
The rest of them imdiately began using spells; Edith surrounded herself with lightning and dashed forward; Freya didn’t even run as she covered herself with fla and blasted off the ground.
Martha, on the other hand, didn’t do anything; she just sat back down.
"18 seconds" Isabella muttered as she returned.
"Good, now we get into the training"
