The fighting is going strong all around the pack grounds. We sweep the south border, killing the enemy we encounter. Ruby fights alongside us, even though I just want her to go back to the pack house, but I know that’s an order she will not follow, so I will not make it.
’In coming up ahead.’ Daniel mind links , from the wardroom. He is using the drones we brought from ho, and scouting from above.
I warn the others, Blake taking the lead. Out of the bush jumps ten rogues, their eyes gleaming with nace. They growl when they see us, but we are not backing down. We promised to sweep this area, and we are keeping that promise.
Blake makes contact with the first rogue, jumping him and slamming his body to the ground. He dips his head in a swift motion and rips the rogue’s throat out before the enemy knows what is happening. We look up just in ti to see Ruby teleport from one spot to another, surprising a rogue and taking him down. Her fast fluid motion, fierce fighting and no nonsense attitude awakening sothing in us both.
The fox guards, Ruby, my brothers and myself quickly kill the rogues, scouting the area in depths before moving on. The drone over our heads flying in a wide circle covering our position. I have never used my mind link as much as I have done here, mostly because our comms were lost when we suddenly had to shift, but also because dad practically forbade it at ho.
’We need to make sure to reinstate the use of mind links when we co ho. I don’t know why dad forbade it?’ I tell my brothers as we move on.
Loki and Damon look at Blake before answering.
’Probably because he couldn’t be a nosy twat and read or hear all correspondences as he can with comms and phones.’ Elijah replies dryly. I never heard him refer to our dad as a twat before? I think this place is rubbing off on him.
’We could ask him?’ Ezra suggests quietly, not really believing in his own idea.
We keep our eyes out, our wolves having full control, making us mind linking each other easier in this situation. I actually find I quite like it, and file it into a ’need to do when we get ho’ list in my head.
’He will just co up with so rude comnt about Allison’s species being the reason, and who are we to question him. He needs to understand, sooner rather than later, that we are the Alpha’s not him.’ Elijah states, Loki huffing in agreent. Winter looks at us in turn, probably sensing so is up.
After we sweep the south border, we head towards the middle, where we’re supposed to et with Maze and Kiara as Maze mind links us to a change in plans. We have command over the fight in the pack grounds, and they need to go hunting in the surrounding forest.
Blake, Damon and Loki straighten as he speaks to us. He trusts our judgent, and we will have his father, uncles and aunts here to help us. People are scattered all over the place, but we are the go to people.
’Copy, Maze. We will keep the pack safe. Co back alive, cousin!’ I mind link him back.
’I’ll try my best. Rember, your mate goes above everything! She is your gift, Ethan.’ I swallow, not waiting to sound rude to my cousin and King. The person I owe allegiance and respect.
’I will keep Allison safe as well!’ I promise, Blake grumbling in our link because I did not na her what I wanted to.
’You keep your Luna safe asshole, and stop referring to her as anything less. She is a Princess and outrank all of your asses.’ He closes the mind link, making sigh ntally.
I relay what he said to my brothers, and then tell Allison that Maze left us in charge of the defense of the pack grounds. Ruby nods, looking at the foxguards, then at us. She is thinking sothing, and from the look in her orange eyes I do not like where she is going with her thought process.
’I will take the fox guards and go help the defenders around the pack house. You take so warriors each, split up and help where you can. We’ll keep up in mind link.’
’Absolutely no...’ Elijah starts, but Ruby turns away and moves quickly and decisively with the fox guards. Damon and Loki look at Blake with blank expressions, and I must admit I have to respect her spirit and fire. We’ll have a talk about orders, and mutual agreent another ti, but her fire is amazing.
We have no other choice as Ruby has left the show, and we split up. I make my way around the pack grounds, helping different defender groups, gathering them with after we slay the enemy. We’re a pretty big group of wolves when sothing explodes on the far side of the pack house. Blake takes off without thinking, his only objective to make sure his mate is alive and secure.
