"Lazarus, I apologize on Ronan’s behalf. So let treat your wound," Arielle said, and Lazarus accepted with a nod of his head.
Usually, Aie would offer herself to help the princess, like when Arielle made her own tea, brought her books, or put on her clothes, but this ti she hesitated.
She certainly wanted to help Arielle, but she also didn’t want to be near Lazarus. Aie didn’t know what happened. It seed Ronan hit Lazarus in the face from what the princess just said.
"What did you do to get beaten like that?" Aie asked curiously.
Arielle stopped cleaning Lazarus’ face, then turned to Aie with a faint smile.
"Aie ... it’s not the ti for that," said Arielle, feeling Aie’s tone was too cynical. It would only hurt Lazarus’ feelings again.
Aie was embarrassed, and she apologized right away. Lazarus just kept silent, pretending not to hear Aie’s question.
Arielle stopped cleaning Lazarus’ wound with the wet part of the towel, and she dried it with the dry part of the towel. After that, Arielle gave an ointnt to the wound on the corner of Lazarus’ lips.
"It looks like it will swell tomorrow," Arielle said, seeing the corners of Lazarus’ lips, which were slightly ripped.
Arielle put a small bandage on Lazarus’ cheek, which also had ripped.
"It’s done. Now, you can go back to your room," said Arielle as she closed the first aid kit again.
"I think I should apologize to Ronan first," Lazarus replied dejectedly.
"You don’t have to. You’re not wrong. Ronan should have apologized first," said Arielle, making Lazarus hesitate. Ronan had never apologized before, so he wasn’t sure it would happen.
Lazarus didn’t want to have an awkward relationship with Ronan. Kael had avoided him because of his fight with Aie, and William didn’t understand his condition.
Thus, he didn’t want Ronan to have a grudge against him either. Ronan might be cold and untouchable, but the man was a fun place to tell stories.
When Lazarus was having a hard ti, he would co to the man’s office to tell him all his troubles. Maybe he would be scolded, but Ronan would help him find a way out. He didn’t want to lose his friend again because of his stupidity.
"But, Your Highness...."
Arielle raised her hand, telling Lazarus to stop talking. "If you co to his office, you’ll just get beaten up by him again."
That one threat was enough to make Lazarus’ courage to apologize fade away with the wind. He nodded in understanding. Maybe he should hide in his room for the next few days.
Arielle put the first aid kit on the table when Lazarus had left. She laid down on the couch with a heavy breath. Aie silently observed the princess, who looked tired.
"Aie, I’m sorry I scolded you earlier," Arielle said, feeling guilty because Aie had beco quieter now.
Aie approached Arielle, who closed her eyes with her hand. "No-no-no, Your Highness. I should be the one to apologize. What you did is correct. It was very rude of to ask Lazarus like that earlier."
Arielle just nodded, then turned her body facing on the couch. She thought of Ronan, who Arielle left alone on the palace ground. A few minutes ago, they still teased each other.
However, Arielle couldn’t leave Lazarus alone. What Ronan did was too much because Lazarus was lost in his mind, so he didn’t see his surroundings. And beating a friend was a very bad act.
If Aie accidentally kicked the snow to Ronan’s face, surely Arielle wouldn’t beat Aie right away. Arielle would ask the reason the girl did that or what made Aie daydream, so she didn’t see the person in front of her.
Arielle was not hurt at all. She almost laughed at the situation, but she had to suppress her laughter when Ronan hit Lazarus.
***
That night Ronan did not visit Arielle at all, nor did Arielle visit Ronan as usual. William, who was giving a report, felt that the entire office room was far more terrifying than usual.
He thought that after eting the princess, Ronan’s mood would get better, but the air in the room felt very heavy and shrouded in an invisible dark mist.
William couldn’t see Ronan’s expression because the man was wearing his mask even though he was alone in his own room. William rushed out of the room because he felt that his life would be in the line if he stayed any longer or opened his mouth to ask sothing unimportant.
The old Ronan had returned, and he didn’t know what had caused it. When he walked in the hallway, he ran into a maid who was crying at Lucas.
"What’s wrong?" he asked because it was rare to see a maid crying openly.
Lucas looked troubled. "Lord William, it seems Your Majesty is in a very bad mood. He threw away the dinner that the maid had brought."
"Is it that bad?" he asked.
"Pardon?"
William held his chin to think for a mont. Ronan did co back in a bad state, but the man imdiately t Princess Arielle for several hours. Shouldn’t he be in a better mood? Maybe sothing happened when Ronan ca back from eting the princess?
William took out his pocket watch and saw that it was not too late, so there was a possibility that Arielle was still awake. Did he need to report this to the princess?
"Lucas, has Princess Arielle fallen asleep?" he asked.
"I saw Aie co back from the princess’ room. Aie said that Princess Arielle didn’t want to be disturbed. She only wanted to be accompanied by Tania only. Until now Tania has not left Princess Arielle’s room. Does that an she hasn’t fallen asleep yet?" Lucas replied.
"Aie said Princess Arielle didn’t want to be disturbed and refuse to eat her dinner?" William asked again.
Strange. How could two people refuse dinner at the sa ti? Maybe what happened to Ronan this ti involved the princess? However, what did Princess Arielle do to make Ronan this angry? William had thought that Ronan would never be angry with Arielle.
Lucas led the still-crying maid back into the kitchen. William walked slowly towards the Whitethorn Palace. He was a bit hesitant to knock on the princess’s door. When was about to knock, the door to the room opened, showing Tania.
"Ah, Tania... Has Princess Arielle fallen asleep?" he asked.
