Mia Dempsey was about to call out "Honey," but was captivated by the young man’s exceptional looks and aura before she could.
The man wasn’t wearing a formal suit, just a shirt and casual trousers.
He wasn’t wearing a tie, his collar was slightly open, and his sleeves were casually pushed up, revealing strong, sexy elbows.
As for the man’s appearance...
Even in the dim evening light, where shadows rely sketched out the indistinct contours of his features, he was stunning enough to take one’s breath away.
What surprised Mia Dempsey even more was that her own husband’s wealth and status were quite high in Veridia.
Yet standing before this man, he was clearly much more deferential.
"Honey~"
Mia Dempsey trotted over in her high heels, took her husband’s arm, and fixed her gaze on the young man. "Who are you talking to? Aren’t you going to introduce ?"
It was only as she spoke that she noticed the watch on the man’s wrist.
A Patek Philippe worth tens of millions.
The car behind him was a limited-edition Bentley.
’Just who is this man?!’
Mia Dempsey’s husband looked at her dotingly. "Did you have a good ti?"
"Mhm, the private room you booked for us was amazing. All my classmates are jealous I married such a good husband."
Mia Dempsey nestled against her husband like a demure wife.
The main thing she had learned this past year was how to provide emotional value for her husband.
Only then did Mia Dempsey’s husband introduce him. "This is Sean Harrison."
"Pres—President Harrison?!"
Mia Dempsey’s expression was one of pure shock.
She knew of Sean Harrison. He was the most promising young president in Veridia, and even all of Celestria—the youngest person in the top ten of the wealth rankings, and not yet thirty years old.
But he was extrely low-key, never accepting interviews and rarely appearing in public. Most people had no idea what he looked like.
Mia Dempsey never imagined that such an outstanding man would also be so ridiculously perfect in height, looks, and presence!
In contrast, her own husband had just turned forty and already had a beer belly.
Just as Mia Dempsey was about to speak, Sean Harrison strode past her, heading toward soone behind her.
Rory Linden hadn’t paid any attention to who Sean Harrison was talking to. Seeing him walk over, she imdiately explained, "Sorry, my friend’s had too much to drink. Can we take her ho first?"
"Of course."
Sean Harrison readily agreed.
At that mont, his driver saw Rory Linden supporting another woman and quickly got out of the car, rushing over to help her with Stella Yates.
"It’s fine, I... I’ll just get a cab back." Stella Yates waved her hand dazedly. "I don’t want to be a third wheel."
"Oh, stop trying to act tough. You’re so drunk, I won’t be able to sleep tonight if I don’t see you get ho safely," Rory Linden insisted.
Just then, Mia Dempsey’s husband walked over and asked politely, "President Harrison, this is..."
Mia Dempsey’s gaze was locked on the two of them.
Sean Harrison was now standing right beside Rory Linden.
Although there was no physical contact, their combined presence clearly scread...
"This is my girlfriend, Rory Linden."
Sean Harrison confird Mia Dempsey’s suspicion.
Mia Dempsey’s husband slapped his forehead. "Right, right! I saw her at Young President Harrison’s engagent party. Look at my mory! I should have rembered President Harrison’s beautiful girlfriend."
"It’s fine." Sean Harrison lowered his gaze to Rory Linden. "My girlfriend prefers to keep a low profile. She doesn’t want too many people to rember her."
Mia Dempsey watched Sean Harrison.
She was searching for any sign that their relationship was purely transactional.
But when Sean Harrison looked at Rory Linden, his gentle gaze held an unmistakable, deep affection.
By now, the driver had already helped Stella Yates into the car.
Seeing this, Mia Dempsey’s husband imdiately said, "So your girlfriend and my wife were college classmates. What a coincidence."
He looked at Mia Dempsey. "Since you’re classmates, you should get together more often. You’re all in Veridia, there’s no need to only et once a year."
"Yes, yes." Mia Dempsey struggled to maintain her smile. "Rory Linden, let’s get in touch later, okay?"
This was the nicest Mia Dempsey had been to her all night.
Rory Linden smiled. "Everyone has their own lives after graduation. We probably won’t have much ti to get together."
She wasn’t a saint.
She wasn’t the type to smile back just because soone else put on a fake smile.
Mia Dempsey’s expression instantly froze.
Sean Harrison had initially thought Rory Linden and Mia Dempsey were on good terms, which was why he had stayed to chat.
But with that one sentence from her, he imdiately realized their relationship wasn’t good.
"It’s getting late. We’ll be heading back now."
After giving Mia Dempsey’s husband a slight nod, Sean Harrison put his arm around Rory Linden’s shoulder and turned to leave.
All the classmates watched from behind.
Especially Wayne Lloyd.
While he didn’t know much about luxury cars, he knew that even the cheapest Bentley cost several million.
Watching Rory Linden get into the priceless car with her boyfriend, he couldn’t help but clench his hands into tight fists.
’Mia Dempsey was right after all. That woman is such a gold digger!’
Stella Yates sat on the far side of the back seat.
Rory Linden sat next to her to keep her company.
Sean Harrison took a seat in the front.
As the car slowly pulled away, Rory Linden could hear Mia Dempsey and her husband arguing.
She couldn’t make out the specifics.
Not that she cared.
Rory Linden carefully asked for Stella Yates’s ho address, and only left after seeing her safely ho and into her mother’s care.
When she ca back downstairs, Sean Harrison was standing by the car, holding the rear door open for her.
She had just gotten in when she heard Sean Harrison say, "I’m sorry."
Rory Linden looked back at him. "What are you sorry for?"
"I didn’t realize you disliked that classmate earlier. I made you two talk for a bit."
After getting in, Sean Harrison naturally reached out and took her hand.
He had been waiting all day for this kind of intimate contact.
After taking Stella Yates ho, Rory Linden felt as if she had completed an important task, and her mind completely relaxed.
She rubbed her eyes. "It’s not that I dislike her, I just didn’t expect her to dislike . But it doesn’t matter. I’ll just delete her from my WeChat when I get back and we won’t be in contact anymore."
"Mm," Sean Harrison said.
Rory Linden thought for a mont. "I’ll delete her right now."
She took out her phone, confird that Mia Dempsey had accepted the money she’d sent before leaving the KTV, and prepared to delete her from WeChat.
Before deleting her, she noticed their chat history stopped two years ago, back when the university was selecting candidates for the National Excellence Scholarship.
Mia Dempsey had sent a ssage: [Rory Linden, congratulations on getting the national scholarship. You’re so lucky.]
At the ti, Rory Linden probably hadn’t paid close attention to the ssage’s specific wording and had just replied with a simple thank you.
Looking back at those few ssages now, she realized the signs of Mia’s animosity toward her had been there all along.
This only strengthened Rory Linden’s resolve as she deleted Mia Dempsey from her WeChat.
The car moved along slowly.
The two of them were sitting very close. Rory Linden had drunk quite a bit. While she wasn’t stumbling like Stella Yates, her mind was starting to feel numb from the alcohol.
She could faintly sll a pleasant scent on the man.
It wasn’t cologne, but seed to be... the sll of mint shampoo.
Her eyelids felt heavy.
Her phone, which she hadn’t put away yet, wasn’t ringing, but the screen kept lighting up over and over.
It was indicating new text ssages.
Sean Harrison said, "You have a text."
"My head is so dizzy. Can you check it for ?"
Rory Linden casually told him her passcode.
She didn’t have any secrets, so she wasn’t worried about what he might see on her phone.
Sean Harrison hesitated for a mont but still picked up the phone. He entered the passcode, and the mont the screen lit up, it displayed three new ssages from an unsaved number.
The first ssage read:
[Rory, I finally see my own heart clearly now. Can you give another chance?]
