Rory Linden glanced at Sean Harrison before nodding. "Yes, his last na is Harrison. He’s one of the Harrisons, too."
Ivan Lowell scrutinized Sean Harrison, then thought carefully. He seed to have realized sothing, but he didn’t speak imdiately.
It was Sean Harrison who introduced himself. "Mr. Lowell, you probably haven’t t . I am the chairman of the Harrison Group, and also Miles Harrison’s uncle."
Every word of his introduction was packed with significance.
As Ivan Lowell listened, the shock on his face was impossible to hide.
Even though he had vaguely guessed Sean Harrison’s identity, he was still incredibly surprised when he actually heard it.
He confird it once more. "You’re Charlotte Rhodes’s son, aren’t you?"
Ivan Lowell found the whole thing a bit incredible.
Back then, as the Harrington family’s butler, he knew their situation better than anyone.
In those years, the Harrington family had laid off many people one after another. The main reason was that they had run out of money and could only barely maintain their glamorous facade.
After leaving the Harrington family, he had heard that they made a coback, all thanks to Charlotte Rhodes’s son.
This Young President Harrison had used decisive thods to steadily establish a foothold in Veridia and revived Harrington Enterprises.
’Rory Linden’s mother, Quinn Linden, was just a maid for the Harrington family. How could she be with this Young President Harrison?’
"Yes."
Sean Harrison nodded.
Ivan Lowell sized up the man, opened his mouth, and finally said, "You saved my Baby. I’m just a butler, but if there’s anything at all I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask."
Sean Harrison glanced at Rory Linden, his eyes asking if she wanted to ask about her mother.
Rory Linden took the cue. "Uncle Lowell, I just want to ask a few things about my mother."
"..."
Ivan Lowell wasn’t the least bit surprised.
He had invited them to dinner today precisely because he planned to find an opportunity to tell her about Quinn Linden.
But he never expected...
That Rory Linden’s boyfriend would actually be Sean Harrison.
Senior President Harrison’s son, no less.
Worried that Ivan Lowell might have so reservations, Rory Linden asked what she most wanted to know first. "My mother used to keep a diary. Did you know about that?"
"A diary?" Ivan Lowell shook his head. "I didn’t know about that."
He then explained, "The Harrington family employed a lot of people back then. There were several estates, gardeners, maids, drivers... dozens of staff in total. It’s not the kind of thing I would have known."
Rory Linden believed his explanation.
She lowered her gaze and asked, "Then... could you tell whatever you rember about my mother?"
For the next hour or so of dinner, Ivan Lowell shared many stories about Rory Linden’s mother.
Most of them revolved around Quinn Linden’s work and personality.
He didn’t even ntion why she had brought Rory Linden to the Harrington estate.
As dinner was drawing to a close, Sean Harrison finally asked, "Mr. Lowell, what was the reason her mother brought Rory to the Harrington estate?"
"..."
The private room imdiately fell silent.
Ivan Lowell t Sean Harrison’s gaze for a mont, then quickly looked away. After a mont of thought, he said, "That... I don’t rember. She just suddenly brought her back one day."
Sean Harrison had dealt with countless people over the years.
He could tell with a single glance that Ivan Lowell was lying.
"Mr. Lowell, does this have anything to do with my father? My father was still alive back then, wasn’t he?"
Sean Harrison’s question was very direct.
"Well..."
Ivan Lowell glanced at Sean Harrison, then at Rory Linden. After a long hesitation, he said in a joking tone, "I really don’t rember. Go easy on an old man, will you?"
’The more he acts like this, the more it suggests this matter is related to my father.’
"Mr. Lowell..."
"Forget it." Rory Linden cut Sean Harrison off. "It’s okay. If Uncle Lowell can’t rember, then let’s just drop it."
She really did want to know what happened back then.
But...
Pressing him probably wouldn’t yield any results.
Ivan Lowell quickly apologized. "I’m sorry. When you get old, you tend to get forgetful."
Rory Linden shook her head. "It’s fine. If you rember anything later, you can call anyti."
Sean Harrison didn’t say anything more.
But he already had a good idea of what was going on.
He’d had Ethan Dixon look into his father’s past recently, so he was well aware of what kind of scumbag his father had been.
Just now, Ivan Lowell had repeatedly ntioned how much Rory Linden resembled her mother.
Given his father’s despicable morals, there was no telling what he might have done.
Ivan Lowell was probably staying quiet because he didn’t want to ruin their relationship.
The dinner party broke up at nine o’clock.
Ivan Lowell walked the two of them all the way to their car.
Sean Harrison got in the car first.
Ivan Lowell looked at Rory Linden and said earnestly, "Starry, your mother was a very good, very kind person. We were friends back then, so if you ever run into any trouble, you can always co to for help."
"Thank you, Uncle Lowell."
Rory Linden could feel Ivan Lowell’s sincerity.
Ivan Lowell glanced at the man in the driver’s seat and added, "You don’t have to find a boyfriend from the Harrington family. If he doesn’t treat you well, just leave him. A wonderful girl like you won’t have any trouble finding a good boyfriend."
"Okay, thank you."
Rory Linden thanked him sincerely.
His words had already confird so of her suspicions.
Nothing more needed to be said.
Rory Linden turned and got into the car.
By tacit agreent, neither of them brought up the matter of her mother.
A silence fell inside the car.
Until...
Rory Linden’s phone chid with a WeChat voice call invitation, breaking the quiet in the car.
She glanced at the screen, then turned to Sean Harrison. "It’s... Rachel Lancaster."
After exchanging WeChat contacts with Rachel Lancaster at the banquet that day, they hadn’t sent each other any ssages.
She hadn’t expected Rachel Lancaster to call her directly today.
"You can take it," Sean Harrison said, continuing to drive.
Rory Linden cleared her throat before accepting the voice call.
"Miss Linden, it’s Rachel Lancaster!"
Rachel Lancaster’s cheerful voice ca from the other end of the line. She first asked, "I don’t have your phone number, so I could only do a voice call. Is it a good ti for you to talk?"
"It is. Go ahead," Rory Linden said.
Once she got the okay, Rachel Lancaster got straight to the point. "So, didn’t we agree last ti that you’d co to my place for your wedding dress? When are you free? Co over to my studio so we can sit down and chat, and I can take your asurents."
"I... My work schedule is pretty hectic. I only have one day off a week, and I have night shifts. Sotis if there’s an ergency surgery, I might have to work overti."
Rory Linden explained her situation first, then added, "So... we can only set a tentative ti, and I’ll do my best to make it."
"That’s fine. I’m at the studio every day anyway."
Rachel Lancaster didn’t seem to mind. She made a request, "But you can’t co alone. Make Mr. Harrison co too. After all, a wedding is about two people. He has to be involved every step of the way!"
"Okay, I’ll ask him." Without hanging up, Rory Linden asked Sean Harrison directly, "Rachel wants you to co with to the wedding dress fitting..."
Knowing Sean Harrison was there, Rachel Lancaster shouted, "Mr. Harrison! It’s Rachel Lancaster! You have to co with Miss Linden."
The car was already quiet, and with the woman’s loud voice, Sean Harrison heard every word clearly.
He tilted his head slightly toward the passenger seat and said, "Alright. You two set a ti, and I’ll definitely be there."
Hearing his voice, Rachel Lancaster continued to shout, "It’s a deal! If you don’t show up, I’ll introduce Miss Linden to other handso guys! I’ll take her to a club to oogle male models!"
Sean Harrison had been planning to go anyway.
But hearing Rachel Lancaster say that, he retorted, "Fine, then I won’t go. I’d like to see where you plan on taking her."
