Shi Aoju went to the study upstairs, probably to handle so docunts.
Su Jiuyi originally didn’t plan to disturb him, but after the recent allergy incident, she dared not neglect it, so she followed him upstairs.
Shi Aoju intentionally left the door open for her. Su Jiuyi leaned against the doorfra of the study, peering inside, seeing Shi Aoju focused and seated at the desk, reviewing docunts.
"Um..." she softly spoke, "Sorry to interrupt."
"What’s up?" he asked.
"Do you like sweet foods?" she inquired.
"It’s okay," he replied, keeping his head down.
"How much sweetness can you handle? Can you accept a cake level of sweetness?" To be honest, she never saw him touch any of the desserts at the banquet before, so he probably doesn’t like them much.
"I can," he turned a page of the docunt, his gaze still stuck on the desk, never lifting his head.
"You aren’t allergic to sweets, are you?" she asked again.
"No."
"Great!"
Su Jiuyi closed the door and went downstairs, Shi Aoju raised his head to glance once, then tiredly rubbed his temples.
He didn’t know what was wrong recently, he kept going against his own wishes.
Last ti when she asked if she could cook fish, although he initially wanted to object, seeing her hopeful face, he couldn’t bring himself to say the word ’no’.
Forgetting he was allergic to fish and everything, it was all a lie to her.
It’s the sa this ti, he rarely ate sweets, not that he hated it, he just didn’t like that overly sweet feeling.
But he knew Su Jiuyi always liked sweets, though she never ntioned it, he knew she would happily pick sweets from the table each ti, and he saw that cookbook she left in the kitchen before, mostly about dessert recipes.
Since she loved sweets and was eagerly making desserts for him, he really had no reason to refuse.
The Su Jiuyi he knew was very insecure and quite self-deprecating, in her world, she seed convinced she could never be appreciated by others. Perhaps it was her living environnt that made her lose this confidence, making her feel her life was all shadows without sunshine.
He could see her care and indifference towards ordinary people. The care ca from her kind heart, the indifference stemd from her deep disbelief in anyone in the world.
Shi Aoju was never a model of a helpful, peace-loving person, but he hoped deep down that Su Jiuyi could open her heart and truly embrace happiness.
At noon, Su Jiuyi served all the desserts on the table, then called Shi Aoju.
Although the table only had desserts, it was enough to fill both their stomachs.
"Looks good," Shi Aoju objectively comnted.
"Quick, try the sweet white fungus and lotus seed soup, I added sugar," she eagerly watched him, resting her chin on her hand.
Shi Aoju’s gaze moved from the dishes to the soup in front of him, the bright white fungus looked quite appetizing, he picked up the spoon and tasted it.
"How is it?" Su Jiuyi’s eyes sparkled, showing the sa expression as when she made fish for him last ti.
She didn’t add too much sugar, while the taste might not match the high-end restaurants, for a newcor like Su Jiuyi, making the soup like this was already quite impressive.
"Not bad," he said.
