A strong-willed woman like Liang Yinqiu apologizing to her might be a sign of recognizing her own faults.

Shen Cheng smiled, put the card back into the box, and covered it again.

She didn’t like the gift, but since it was from Liang Yinqiu, she felt obliged to accept it.

Liang Yinqiu was able to set aside her pride and apologize; Shen Cheng had no reason to refuse such kindness.

So much ti had passed; why should she be upset over this matter?

But as for the gift itself, she found it quite vulgar.

Of all things to give, why lingerie?

She tore up the card, threw it into the trash, then took the box downstairs to give to the servants, instructing them to dispose of the lingerie and to return a gift to Liang Yinqiu:

An LV limited edition handbag.

Shen Cheng didn’t like owing others and didn’t want any further entanglents with Liang Yinqiu, which is why she chose to reciprocate.

Their grievances were thus resolved, and their relationship remained as before—limited to that of strangers.

The next day, Shen Cheng unexpectedly received a call from Mu Bai.

She didn’t know how he got her number and didn’t ask; they simply exchanged pleasantries like common acquaintances, briefly conversing for a few minutes.

Mu Bai told her that he was now settled abroad, planning to develop his career there and might not often return to the country.

Before hanging up, he confessed his feelings, telling Shen Cheng bluntly that she would always be in his heart, unable to leave.

Even so, he would not step in and disrupt, because truly loving soone is not about possessing them but silently watching them find Happiness.

He said he would marry and have children, but would not force himself to forget the one in his heart.

Listening to his words, Shen Cheng didn’t feel much, perhaps because with ti her feelings for him had faded to just a blank sheet, or maybe her heart had already entirely fallen for another man.

Now, her relationship with Mu Bai was a little more familiar than with a stranger but a little less than with a friend.

Even though she knew that Mu Bai had left her because of illness back then, it remained the sa.

She and he could never return to the past, nor was it possible to.

At the end of the call, she simply said, "Take care."

These three words put a full stop to a relationship that had neither a beginning nor an end, completely severing all ties between them.

A month later, Shen Cheng heard from Ye Zi that her sister, while inspecting a project abroad, happened to et Mu Bai.

Of course, they had als together, hung out, and even rode the most thrilling roller coaster.

When Ye i got off the roller coaster, her legs were weak; she felt dizzy and vomited, and Mu Bai carried her back to the hotel.

After that, there was so progress between them, and it was said they began dating.

Knowing about this, Shen Cheng thought, fate really is sothing elusive.

Mu Bai and Ye i had grown up together since childhood, yet for so many years, there had been no romantic developnt between them. But now, they had embarked on a new relationship after a roller coaster ride together.

All she hoped was that Ye i could help Mu Bai let go of what he couldn’t let go of and that they would co together, marry, have children, and slowly grow old together.
