But the noble lady was not quite willing to let the topic go. "Just look at your husband, handso and wealthy, and he treats you so well, how many people must be dying of envy."
Ye Zi just uttered another "oh," her distracted deanor seed to express that she didn’t like discussing these matters with others.
Feeling that it was hard to engage her in conversation, the noble lady tactfully returned to her own seat.
But not even three minutes after sitting down, she ca over again, nudging Ye Zi’s hand with her elbow, signaling her to look in a certain direction.
"That’s your husband over there, isn’t it?"
Initially, Ye Zi didn’t grasp her aning, but upon hearing what the noble lady had said, she imdiately followed her gaze.
She saw Qin Jin leant casually on a dining table not far away, with a tall woman standing beside him.
They were talking and laughing, it was unclear what they were discussing.
Perhaps Qin Jin had said sothing amusing, eliciting a burst of girlish laughter from the woman; she covered her mouth with her hand, her smiles and frowns were strikingly eye-catching.
The well-behaved hands resting on her knees unwittingly clenched the hem of her dress, gradually tightening their grip.
Ye Zi bit her lip, her face showing a complex expression.
She had never known how to hide her emotions, even in front of strangers, it was the sa.
The noble lady noticed her unease and asked, "Do you know that woman?"
Ye Zi shook her head without saying a word.
Seeing this, the noble lady kind-heartedly suggested, "If you don’t know her, you might want to go have a look. A man should not be kept too tightly, but neither should he be given too much slack, otherwise, he’ll do sothing inappropriate."
"It’s fine, let them talk."
Ye Zi pretended to be indifferent, unaware that her look of loss had already betrayed her.
The noble lady patted her shoulder with profound aning, "Young lady, don’t be too careless."
Ye Zi remained silent.
The conversation between Qin Jin and the woman carried on.
And during all this ti, Qin Jin had not taken his eyes off the woman, nor had he glanced in Ye Zi’s direction even once.
Her heart felt tight as if an invisible hand was squeezing her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.
Drinks and dishes were quickly served. Ye Zi took the bottle and poured a bit into her glass and brought it to her lips to drink.
But as soon as her lips touched the rim of the glass, she aborted the thought.
Thinking of her tolerance for alcohol and the things she had done after drinking, she lost the courage to drink.
So, in the end, she didn’t drink.
She sat there silently alone, looking so helpless.
Shen Cheng went upstairs to check on the child and, after coming down, searched for Ye Zi and Qin Jin.
Because Qin Jin was just standing beside the main table, and his visage was highly distinctive, Shen Cheng spotted him at a glance.
Seeing him chatting with a woman, she didn’t mind.
Because when she first t Qin Jin, she knew very well that he was a playboy who appeared liberal on the outside but was conservative at heart, surrounded by countless won, yet never ssing around.
Shen Cheng walked over to him, only to discover upon getting closer, that the woman chatting with Qin Jin was Gu Liancheng.
Her eyes smiled, seeming to enjoy their conversation imnsely; she was laughing yet still maintaining her dignified and elegant poise.
Not knowing what Qin Jin had said, Gu Liancheng showed a slightly astonished expression, "Staying long in Du City? Are you planning to develop here permanently?"
"Sort of," replied Qin Jin, swirling the alcohol in his glass before taking a sip.
