When they arrived at the restaurant, Mr. Qin ordered the food first, then sat with Qi Jingren for a while before making an excuse to leave.
In the past, when Qi Jingren dined with Mr. Qin, he often left early as well, so she was quite used to it and waved her hand, saying, "Go ahead, we’ll keep in touch by phone." Mr. Qin explained a few things before leaving. As he was about to go, he intentionally observed Qi Jingren’s expression; he initially expected to see so disappointnt, but to his surprise, Qi Jingren acted as if nothing had happened, sipping red wine and eating steak as usual.
After leaving the restaurant, Mr. Qin drove away and made a phone call to Song Zhike from the car, asking him for so advice.
Upon hearing this, Song Zhike laughed heartily, "So even Mr. Qin has tis when he’s at a loss."
"I’m giving you a chance to prove your strength," Mr. Qin replied.
"Co on." Song Zhike stopped laughing and finally got serious, "For a woman born into a high-status family, flowers and diamond rings probably hold no allure, so those should be ruled out first."
The two chatted for a while longer, and the discussion was mostly about Qi Jingren. Song Zhike offered Mr. Qin a few suggestions and left the choice to him.
After hanging up, Su Manning, who was walking beside Song Ke, looked at him with eyes that seed to inquire about who had called just now.
It’s actually quite natural for Su Manning to be curious. If anyone heard the phrase "for a woman born into a high-status family," they would probably feel puzzled.
Typically, wealthy and noble families refer to rich aristocrats and people in politics, while high-status refers to those who hold high-ranking governnt positions. Su Manning had known Song Zhike for so ti, but she’d never heard him ntion having friends from such high-status backgrounds, not even Mr. and Mrs. Song had those connections.
"It was Shaobai." Song Zhike noticed she seed curious, so he told her.
"Oh." Su Manning nodded, then asked, "Is he interested in pursuing soone?"
From her perspective, Mr. Qin and Qi Jingren seed like a couple; they were always hanging out together and appeared to have a good relationship. Especially Mr. Qin, who seed unable to take his eyes off Qi Jingren whenever she was around.
Could it be that their relationship is just for show? Or perhaps they were rely playacting for the occasion, or maybe they were just good friends, getting along like buddies.
"He probably wants to confess to Qi Jingren." Song Zhike used "probably" not because he was uncertain, but because he felt there was no need to explain too much to Su Manning. After spending so much ti together, he felt they were not from the sa world. In a little while, he should be able to annul his engagent with her.
Su Manning was a bit surprised, "So, are Qi Jingren’s parents officials?"
"I’m not sure, I’ve only heard that her family is well-off. I don’t interact with her much, so I haven’t paid attention," Song Zhike said, changing the subject, "Do you need to drive you ho?"
Su Manning felt it wasn’t appropriate to ask further, so she let it go, shook her head, and said, "No need, I’ll just take a taxi back; it’s only a five-minute drive."
Song Zhike hailed a taxi, gentlemanly opened the door for Su Manning, and after she got in, he closed the door and waved to her, "Take care on the road, goodnight."
Su Manning smiled softly, "Goodnight."
