Su Jiuyi went to the kitchen to look for ingredients, because the housekeeper said she didn’t have to work today, so she could use the ti as she pleased.
Celery stir-fried with spinach was just a random comnt. During the ti she had worked at the Shi Family, though she didn’t quite understand Shi Aoju’s likes and dislikes, she knew he never touched celery.
Su Jiuyi had asked other maids, and they said Shi Aoju didn’t eat celery for one reason only: he didn’t like the taste of celery.
She wouldn’t cook what he wouldn’t eat. Besides, who has ever heard of a dish called celery stir-fried with spinach?
Qi Jingren had been standing outside the kitchen, watching Su Jiuyi cook, when Qin Shaobai suddenly showed up, bringing a chair over to sit next to him, resting his chin in his hands and watching her.
Su Jiuyi thought the scene was a bit comical. She was cooking for the one she liked, Qi Jingren was watching her cook for the one he liked, and Qin Shaobai, who liked Qi Jingren, was watching him watch her cook for the one she liked.
"Are you two staying for lunch? If so, I’ll make so extra." Su Jiuyi paused her actions and turned to look at the two outside the kitchen.
Before Qi Jingren could say anything, Qin Shaobai stood up and said, "No, we’ll eat out."
"I’m not going." Qi Jingren refused to give face.
Qin Shaobai looked at her, eyes filled with a doting smile. He leaned in to tidy her slightly ssy hair and said, "As usual, my treat."
Qi Jingren was eventually dragged away, although she refused and resisted many tis, she was ultimately softened by Qin Shaobai.
Su Jiuyi shook her head with a smile, thinking that this bickering couple was the loveliest she had ever seen. Always quarreling and never on the sa page, but anyone could tell their eyes were full of each other.
At one o’clock, Shi Aoju drove back to the Shi Residence.
As he entered the hall, Su Jiuyi was still busy in the kitchen. Perhaps his footsteps were too light, for he stood outside the door watching for quite a while, and the woman inside failed to notice.
As she placed the heart-shaped steak on a plate, Su Jiuyi leaned against the stove in thought. He was used to dining at fancy restaurants and probably often ordered steak or sothing like that.
Seeing her actions, Shi Aoju couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Hearing his laughter, Su Jiuyi snapped out of her thoughts and turned around, seeing him lazily leaning against the doorfra, looking amused. She pursed her lips, "Young Master Jue, when did you get back?"
"When you were plating." He said.
"Why didn’t you call ?"
"You looked so cute spacing out, I couldn’t bear to disturb you." Shi Aoju walked into the kitchen, stood in front of Su Jiuyi, looking down at her with a faint smile on his lips, an expression that seed a bit roguish with a hint of mischief.
Su Jiuyi felt a bit uneasy under his gaze, quickly avoiding his intense look, and changed the topic, "I made steak, do you like it?"
"It’s alright." He replied.
What do you an, alright?!
Previously, he had accommodated her, even though he didn’t eat fish or sweets, he still did, just not to dampen her spirits.
Thinking of this, Su Jiuyi felt a bit guilty and looked up at him again, saying, "If you don’t like it, I’ll make sothing else. It won’t take long."
Shi Aoju suddenly leaned down, whispered in her ear, "I like it."
