Afternoon.

The stifling heat brought dense, dark clouds, and the golden sunlight could no more penetrate their mass; rain hung suspended in the sky as flashes of lightning coursed through the black clouds.

The black Panara tore along the elevated road, its tail wing unfolding slowly, its crimson tail lights elegantly stretched long. Only when the curtain of rain fell did the car slow down.

The car's air conditioning humd, bringing a hint of coolness.

"How will you explain this to Sister Yun?" he asked, glancing at Lin Wanzhou in the passenger seat from the corner of his eye, then quickly looked away again.

"Just to clear my head," she said.

Xu Qingyan laughed, slowed down to let a car change lanes and overtake. On rainy days, he never rushed for speed, even though he could have slipped past everyone in front like playing a ga.

"Sister Yun won't be mad, will she?"

"No," Lin Wanzhou shook her head, "I'll just say I ca out to sing. I've been holed up in the recording studio for the past few days; I can't keep from coming out."

"True," he said, looking down and gently pressing the accelerator as the car began to pick up speed slowly.

Ten minutes later, the black steel catfish ca off the overpass, a swift and stable presence, exiting the Pucheng area. As they approached the city center, the rain outside had lessened considerably.

The car window slowly rolled down in the congested city center, where traffic crept along everywhere. Even a Maybach had to wait, enduring the sluggish steel river of cars.

Luckily, Xu Qingyan's patience was good, and no one dared cut off the Panara; hitting it ant full responsibility. Even if one could afford the compensation, nobody wanted to start trouble.

One cannot possess a Panara and self-doubt at the sa ti; in this world where people respect the clothes before the wearer, a luxury car inherently cos with many privileges.

Lin Wanzhou could tell he really enjoyed this big toy, so she always let him drive.

During the pause at the intersection, he rested one hand on the window, his gaze carelessly sweeping outside. The sight that t his eyes was a cluster of dilapidated self-built houses, struggling to grow among the skyscrapers.

Red bricks and gray tiles appeared out of place against the modern buildings, like a stubborn, tenacious moss rooted therein through the sedint of ti.

There was a Wanda at the intersection, and two people clad in raincoats were running through the rain, seemingly holding so piece of equipnt, filming sothing. The people around turned their heads to look at the conspicuous duo.

"What are they running for?" Lin Wanzhou leaned over from her seat, asking curiously.

"Not sure, probably so self-dia folks shooting a short video or sothing," he replied casually, not expecting that the two would make their way toward them.

Xu Qingyan was montarily stunned, recognizing the man: the deceitful real estate agent who had tried to lure him into renting biohazard burial grounds just a few days ago. Now gone was his suit and tie, replaced by casual attire.

Had he... changed careers?

As the other ran and looked up to find his way, he glanced over and obviously saw Xu Qingyan too, their eyes eting in recognition.

In the rain,

Zhao Daxing, since that day he had complied with his company's ridiculous request to take Xu Qingyan live streaming while exploring tombs and houses, had experienced an explosion in local traffic, becoming an unwitting online celebrity by mistake.

Zhao Daxing tried his luck a few more tis and, sensing an incredible opportunity, quickly resigned from his job.

Because of this decision, his newly-wed wife totally lost it. Screaming at him, "With a monthly mortgage of eight thousand, you quit just like that? Do you want to drive to my grave?"

He could only soothe her over and over again, promising the moon, as the pressure of quitting his job beca imnse. But how else could he pay off the three-million mortgage back ho without hard work?

He hadn't expected it to rain today, not having checked the weather forecast while in an air-conditioned room at noon.

With his newly hired assistant, Zhao Daxing almost beca drenched, forced to buy two raincoats for twenty yuan from a roadside convenience store; the shoot had to proceed, rain or shine.

They had just darted out in front of the Wanda mall, dodging in and out of the blinding xenon headlights. Unexpectedly, he spotted Xu Qingyan through the misty veil of rain.

After glancing at one another, Zhao Daxing felt slightly dazed. It had been less than half a month since their last encounter, yet it felt like an eternity.

It wasn't that ti had slowed down; it was that he had changed too quickly.

He had gone from a real estate agent to a minor internet celebrity, risking it all on that uncertain path of life. The world hadn't wavered, but his own life was wildly swinging.

The mont his gaze shifted away from Xu Qingyan's face, Zhao Daxing also saw the Panara and his pupils dilated again in shock.

If he rembered correctly, the last ti he saw Xu Qingyan, he seed to be driving an Audi A8, right? How had he switched cars in just a few days? Surely he wasn't renting again.

Holy shit, he can't afford a thousand-yuan monthly rent and yet rents a luxury car?

It was only when Xu Qingyan smiled at him, and then a beautiful face curiously peered out from the passenger seat, that Zhao Daxing's pupils widened again, his body jolting.

Lin Wanzhou? "I Miss"?

Zhao Daxing rarely followed celebrities, didn't care much for TV, but he did enjoy listening to music. Lin Wanzhou was one of the few stars he actually liked; she was beautiful and her songs were sweet.

Her song "I Miss" had shattered his perception of Lin Wanzhou, taking his admiration for her talent to another level. He had not expected Lin Wanzhou to be capable of writing such a song.

Even through the rain, Zhao Daxing recognized Lin Wanzhou at a glance, unmasked in the car.

Looking back at Xu Qingyan, the thought that he might be renting the car suddenly vanished. No rental luxury car could convince Lin Wanzhou to sit in the passenger seat.

BYD, is he really driving a luxury car while renting cheap housing?

The caraperson behind him, clueless, slowed his pace when he saw Zhao Daxing stop. Just right, he captured both Xu Qingyan and Lin Wanzhou in the fra.

The traffic light changed, Xu Qingyan was not paying attention and followed the car in front.
