Chapter 37: Bai Qi’s Tree

After the ceremony ended, the children began to run around the school to look for their parents. Zhang Li Xue was separated from her friends as she began to look for her family.

Because of her father’s injured legs, her family mbers had not left the gymnasium yet. Zhang Li Xue was quickly reunited with everyone.

The mont she saw her mother, the little girl spread her arms and hugged her mother’s legs tightly. “Mommy!” The smile on her face was especially bright.

A few seconds later, Zhang Li Xue took a few steps back. Her eyes were on her mother’s slightly bulging stomach. She seed to rember her mother’s special condition and was worried that she might accidentally harm her little sibling.

But as she raised her head, her mother was smiling gently at her. “Li Xue, Mommy saw you on the stage earlier.”

The smile on her face returned. “Mommy, how did I do?”

“You’re doing great. My baby is amazing.” Li Qin Yao bent to hug her daughter tightly and kissed her cheek a few tis.

Zhang Li Xue laughed happily, enjoying her mother’s attention.

“My daughter is pretty,” Zhang Yu Han said. “You look just like a flower fairy.”

“Un. My Li Xue is definitely the prettiest of them all.” The little girl’s great-grandfather, Zhang Jing spoke. He patted the girl on her head and smiled. “As the reward, Great-grandpa will make your favorite chicken wings.”

Her eyes sparkled. “Great-grandpa, you’re the best! I love Great-grandpa’s chicken wings the best.”

Later, everyone else started to praise her as well.

Zhang Li Xue thought that all her hard work and practice paid off. Being praised for sothing that she had done gave her a good feeling.

Seeing that many had left with their parents to have their al together, Zhang Li Xue quickly led her family outside.

Previously, their teacher had said that there would be so snacks for the parents. However, looking at the crowd, the Zhang family chose to sit down in a quieter place. They brought their own packed lunch and decided to sit down together.

As the family ate together, Zhang Li Xue would tell her family about her days at school. Then, she brought took her classmates over and introduced them to her family.

Strangely, the classmates that she had pulled over were all girls.

Each ti that Zhang Li Xue wanted to introduce the boys, they would quickly back off before she could bring them to her family.

Of course, the little girl was not aware that the boys were frightened to see her father’s scary eyes. Her father’s piercing gaze was really suitable to drive so flies away.

After eating and drinking for a while, Zhang Li Xue told her mother that she wanted to go to the restroom.

“Wait for . I will accompany you,” Li Qin Yao said as she tidied up the food container.

“Mommy, you don’t need to accompany . I can go on my own,” Zhang Li Xue said. “This is my school. I know the way to the restroom. There will be a lot of people around. I will be safe. You should stay here and look after my Daddy instead.”

Li Qin Yao laughed as she heard her daughter’s words. She pinched at her daughter’s chubby cheek and spoke, “Mommy almost forgotten that my daughter is all grown up. You don’t need Mommy to accompany you anymore. Alright. Go ahead. Just co back after you’re done, alright?”

“Un.” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “Mommy, I know. I’ll co back as quickly as I can.” She then turned around and headed to the restroom.

On her way, Zhang Li Xue ran into a few of her classmates. Seeing that they were with their family mber, the little girl waved her hand at her friend before continuing to be on her way.

There were quite a few other children who were visiting the restroom at this ti. After queuing for a while, it was finally her turn.

When she co out again, the little girl washed her hands before going to look for her family again.

As she was passing the garden, her eyes caught the sight of soone familiar standing alone under the big tree.

It was Bai Qi!

Her eyes lit up. Zhang Li Xue looked around and noticed that Bai Qi was alone. It seed that his family mbers were not with him.

The little girl still rembered her promise to return to her mother quickly. However, seeing that Bai Qi was alone, she wanted to go over and ask him about his family.

After a long hesitation, the little girl finally walked over to her friend. “Brother Bai Qi!”

The boy stiffened as he heard her voice. Bai Qi turned around slowly and was surprised to find the little fairy walking in his direction.

Because of her performance earlier, Zhang Li Xue was still wearing her dress.

There were tiny flowers scattered on her skirt. It reminded Bai Qi of the first ti he t Zhang Li Xue at the wedding. She still looked like a little fairy. She’s too adorable.

“Brother Bai Qi, why are you here alone? What about your family?”

“They were waiting at the canteen,” Bai Qi said. “I ca out for so fresh air and thought that the view here is quite nice.”

Zhang Li Xue looked around and thought that it was indeed nice to stand under the big tree. It was windy and the rustling of the leaves was comforting.

“Brother Bai Qi, I saw your performance earlier.”

Bai Qi’s gaze shifted when he heard her words.

“Your classmates really worked hard. Everyone was dressed in pretty costus. It looks quite fun.”

Bai Qi lowered his gaze. “But I am only a tree.”

Everyone was wearing a pretty costu. However, he was roleplaying as a tree and did not get to dress up like everyone else.

He thought that he would not mind this role. However, after he ca down the stage, his mother scolded him for not being able to get an important role.

Bai Qi had to admit that he was quite... sad.

Zhang Li Xue tilted her head as she looked at her friend. “A tree is also an important role.” Her eyes suddenly lit up and Zhang Li Xue laughed happily. “I think it’s good that you were playing a tree. This way, we would be a good team.”

Bai Qi looked at the girl in puzzlent.

“Then, I can accompany you as a flower fairy.” She held her skirts and smiled. “You see? Don’t I look like a flower fairy?”

Her smile was so bright that it made Bai Qi stunned. He thought of her words and found that he liked the sound of them. It seed that the two of them really matched each other, right?
