179 Why Do You Sound Disappointed?
Zhang Li Xue began to enter the new departnt and thus, she has beco busier trying to learn new things. After working hard for a few days, Zhang Li Xue finally had ti to catch her breath.
As she was having her lunch in the staff’s cafeteria, Zhang Li Xue took out her phone and stared at Bai Qi’s na for a long ti.
She wanted to talk to him, but could not find an excuse to do so.
Zhang Li Xue raked her brain and finally decided to use Bai Xi Xi as an excuse.
Still... Zhang Li Xue had to rewrite her ssage a few tis before she was finally satisfied. Once she thought that her text ssage was not that suspicious, Zhang Li Xue finally hit the send button.
Then, she sat quietly while having her lunch as she anticipate Bai Qi’s reply.
Seconds turned to minutes.
The smile on her face gradually faded.
Seeing that Bai Qi had not replied to her ssage made her disappointed.

She wondered if he had an ergency and had to work again.
It was the lunch hour, but it seed that Bai Qi was not that free. Being a doctor was really hard...
With a sigh, Zhang Li Xue decided to tidy up before returning to her office.
Just as she was climbing up the stairs, the phone in her hand began to chi.
Her eyes lit up. However, a few seconds later, the joy in her expression died out again. Zhang Li Xue decided that she should assign a special ringtone for Bai Qi so that this thing would not happen again.
Zhang Li Xue picked up the phone and spoke, “Su Jin...”
There was a brief silence on Fang Su Jin’s part. “Li Xue, why do you sound disappointed?”
“You’re overthinking. I’ve just had my lunch and am now climbing up the stairs,” Zhang Li Xue lied.
Of course, no words could describe how disappointed she was when she saw that the person who called her was not the person she was hoping to hear from.
Fang Su Jin decided not to press on this matter. “Anyway, Li Xue, let tell you sothing good.” Her tone sounded livelier. “Next week, I’m heading to Capital City. My ntor said they will showcase a few of my artwork in the gallery. Li Xue, do you want to co?”
“Mmm... I’d love to go, but I just got transferred to a new departnt this week,” Zhang Li Xue said. “It wouldn’t be convenient for to take a few days off.”
Fang Su Jin let out a sigh in disappointnt.
“But don’t worry. I’ll send soone to visit the gallery on my behalf.”
“Who?”
“My brother. He’s studying in Capital City, rember?”
The corner of Fang Su Jin’s lips started to twitch.
“Anyway, as compared to , Yi Hai understands art a little better,” Zhang Li Xue said.
“Forget it. I would rather prefer that you did not send anyone,” Fang Su Jin said. “Li Xue, your little brother is quite scary.”
Zhang Li Xue laughed. “Yi Hai might be a super annoying person, but he’s not that scary. He might look all tough on the outside, but he’s actually a softie.”
Fang Su Jin recalled that scene where Zhang Yi Hai beat up the two troublemakers the last ti. Each of his movents was fierce. Where was that softie? Fang Su Jin was doubting whether they are still talking about the sa person.
Zhang Li Xue heard a brief tone from her phone and quickly spoke, “Alright. Let’s not talk about this anymore. I’m waiting for a ssage.”
“What is it that could be more important than ?” Fang Su Jin pretended to be hurt.
“I’m waiting for Bai Qi’s ssage.”
“Bai Qi? Doctor Bai?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Hoo... What is this? Why do I sense that sothing is brewing?”
“Mmm... after talking to you the other day, I decided to chase after him.”
Fang Su Jin wondered if she had misheard her friend’s words. It took her a while for her to realize that Zhang Li Xue was serious.
“Su Jin, what do you think?” Zhang Li Xue asked. “It’s not wrong for to chase after him, right?”
Fang Su Jin thought that chasing after Bai Qi was not necessary.
After all, according to her observation as an outsider, Bai Qi liked Zhang Li Xue. If she straightaway confessed to him that she liked him, there was no way that Bai Qi would reject her.
But... of course, it wouldn’t be fun to tell Zhang Li Xue all about this.
“At this age and year, it’s not wrong for a woman to chase after the guy she liked,” Fang Su Jin said. “Zhang Li Xue, I’m rooting for you.”
Zhang Li Xue felt relieved upon hearing her friend’s words.
Although she had made her decision, Zhang Li Xue was still doubting whether she was doing the right thing.
The two friends chatted for a while with Fang Su Jin teasing her friend endlessly before they ended their call.
Zhang Li Xue returned to the office and was busy with work again.
The phone on her desk buzzed. Zhang Li Xue reached for her phone and did a double take when she saw Bai Qi’s na on the screen.
Swiftly, her lips stretched into a bright smile.
Bai Qi apologized for not getting back to her sooner and explained that he was assisting his ntor with an important surgery. Then, he told her that she could co to their apartnt anyti to look for Bai Xi Xi.
Zhang Li Xue glanced at the ti and frowned. After a while, her fingers were tapping quickly on the phone again.
“It’s already passed lunch hour. Have you eaten yet?”
This ti, it did not take a long ti for Bai Qi to reply to her ssage.
“The nurses have ordered a takeaway for .”
Zhang Li Xue pursed her lips. Then, she typed again. “Will you be on night duty again today?”
“No.”
“Then, can I go and look for you? Do you want to have dinner together?” Zhang Li Xue said. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen Xi Xi after all.”
Her hand was gripping tightly as she waited for his reply.
“Alright.”
