122 Very Fortunate
“You’re up early,” Li Qin Yao comnted when she saw her daughter in the living room. She glanced at the clock again, making sure that she was not hallucinating.
Zhang Li Xue flashed an awkward smile upon hearing her mother’s words.
“Do you have to join your father for another eting today?” Li Qin Yao frowned. She did not recall that her husband had ntioned anything about a eting today.
“No.” Zhang Li Xue lowered her gaze, worried that her mother was going to catch her lie. “I just couldn’t sleep that well.”
Last night, she had spent her night at the hospital with Bai Qi.
She had thought that she was going to rest for a while, but who would have guessed that she was too tired after running around the whole day? The mont she put her head on Bai Qi’s pillow, she quickly fell asleep.
Later, the man woke her up, telling her that the sky had turned bright.
Worried that her family would know that she did not co ho last night, Zhang Li Xue decided to head ho quickly.
Fortunately, no one at ho was awake when she arrived.
.....
She snuck into her room and changed her clothes. When she lay down on her bed, Zhang Li Xue found that she could not fall asleep.
Her mind could not stop thinking about her conversation with Bai Qi at the hospital.
Until this ti, Zhang Li Xue still found it hard to believe that Doctor Bai Qi and the boy from her childhood are the sa person.
He was her first teammate.
Just like he had promised, he had grown taller and practiced a lot. It has been twenty years since the last ti they saw each other. But the man kept his words and returned to Y City to look for her.
It was her who had forgotten about him.
If it was not because of Fang Su Jin, perhaps she wouldn’t know that her first teammate was right in front of her.
However, her heart would ache once she recalled what had happened to Bai Qi and his family. Zhang Li Xue would never expect that Bai Qi would have suffered so much.
He had no one else but his little sister.
Zhang Li Xue could not imagine how he had raised little Xi Xi all by himself.
She could not help but look up at him.
A warm hand landed on her forehead, snapping her out of her thoughts. Zhang Li Xue raised her head and saw that her mother was watching her with worry.
“Fortunately, you’re not unwell,” Li Qin Yao said. A breath of relief escaped her. She touched her daughter’s forehead and cheek a few tis to check on her temperature.
Seeing her mother’s concern made her feel warm. Zhang Li Xue thought that she was very fortunate that she still have her parents who loved her unconditionally.
Before she knew it, Zhang Li Xue hugged her mother’s waist and rested her head on her mother’s tummy.
Li Qin Yao was startled at her sudden action. A few seconds later, her gaze turned warm and she started to caress her daughter’s hair gently. “What is it?”
“Mommy.” Zhang Li Xue could not stop herself from rubbing her face on her mother’s body a few tis. Her mother’s scent and warmth made her feel more at ease. “I love you.”
Li Qin Yao giggled upon hearing her daughter’s words. She bent over to kiss her daughter on top of her head and sighed. “Un. Mommy loves you too.”
She did not know what was going on with her daughter, but seeing that she wanted to act coquettishly with her, Li Qin Yao decided to play along. Now that her children had grown up, it was a rare chance for her to spoil them like this.
Li Qin Yao continued to pat her daughter’s head for a while. Noticing that the auntie had gone into the kitchen, Li Qin Yao tapped her daughter’s shoulder twice and spoke, “Alright, Mommy is going into the kitchen. What do you want to eat?”
“Anything is fine.” Zhang Li Xue smiled as she released her mother. “Mommy, I like everything you cook.”
Li Qin Yao gave her daughter a look over. Seeing that there was nothing wrong with her, she then turned around and head into the kitchen.
...
In the morning, Zhang Li Xue went to work as usual.
While doing her tasks, Zhang Li Xue still could not stop thinking about her conversation with Bai Qi at the hospital.
Now that she knew who he was, Zhang Li Xue felt as if there were a lot of things that she wanted to tell him.
If she headed to the hospital after work to look for him, would he be surprised?
Zhang Li Xue recalled that her Uncle Qi Zheng was working at the sa hospital and decided that it was probably not a good idea for her to visit the place.
It would be troubleso if her Uncle Qi Zheng saw her and speak to her father about it.
Zhang Li Xue found that she had grown restless. After thinking about it for a while, she picked up her phone and called Fang Su Jin.
Her lips turned into a wide smile when Fang Su Jin picked up her phone call after a few rings.
“Su Jin...” Zhang Li Xue called her sweetly.
“Li Xue, speak properly. Your sweet voice is giving goosebumps.” Fang Su Jin shrugged as she rubbed her arms.
“Are you busy? Let’s et up,” Zhang Li Xue suggested. “I have sothing to tell you.”
It was Fang Su Jin who had helped her to figure out about Bai Qi. Naturally, she wanted to share this excitent with her friend.
Fang Su Jin stared at the blank canvas in front of her. She thought of Zhang Li Xue’s suggestion for a while and agreed. “Sure. Let’s et up. I still rember that you owe a al at a vegetarian restaurant. Will you co over and pick up? I’m too lazy to drive.”
The corner of Zhang Li Xue’s lips began to twitch. The excitent in her died down the mont Fang Su Jin ntioned the vegetarian restaurant.
