As I walked down the driveway of the Sterling mansion, the cool night air kissed my cheeks, contrasting with the heat still radiating from my flushed skin.

I couldn’t help the wide smile plastered on my face as I tapped away on my phone.

"Perfect," I muttered under my breath.

Monts later, a sleek black car pulled up to the curb. The tinted window rolled down, and there he was, Jason Lincoln Cole.

His grey eyes had returned, shimring with their usual cockiness. He leaned casually against the steering wheel, smirking as if the entire world amused him.

"Get in," he drawled.

I slid into the passenger seat, closing the door behind as the sound of distant chaos reached my ears.

Boom!

A side of the sterling mansion blew up.

It looked beautiful against the evening sky. Like a fiery rainbow happening.

Jason whistled low as he watched from the rearview mirror. "Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful."

I turned to him, my brows shooting up. "You didn’t..."

"Oh, I did," he said, leaning back in his seat with an air of satisfaction. His smirk widened. "It’s been so long since I got to play with a drone bomb. Such a classic."

I stared at him, half-impressed and half-horrified. "You’re...crazy."

I turned back at the house then back at him.

"Maybe." He shrugged, turning to et my gaze. "But admit it—you enjoyed that."

I bit my lip, suppressing the grin threatening to break free. "Maybe a little, but the police."

"Nah don’t worry, they would sweep ig underneath the rug."

I laughed, throwing my head back.

"Wonderful."

He chuckled, his fingers drumming against the steering wheel. "So, how was your little revenge fest? Satisfying?"

I leaned back, closing my eyes for a mont. "More than you’ll ever know. Lyra deserved every slap. Every scalding drop of coffee."

"And Gabriel?" Jason asked, his tone almost casual but with a sharp edge to it.

I smirked. "Let’s just say he won’t be using his hand properly for a while."

Jason laughed, the sound rich and genuine. "That’s my girl."

I shot him a side-eye glare. "I’m not your anything."

"Not yet," he teased, his smirk never wavering.

I rolled my eyes, turning to look out the window. The car was moving steadily through the quiet streets, the distant sound of sirens faint but persistent.

"So," Jason said, breaking the silence. "What’s next on your to-do list of destruction?"

I tilted my head, watching the city lights blur past. "Jessica. She’s next. And then... well, we’ll see."

Jason humd thoughtfully. "You know, you could use a partner for this. Soone with a little more... experience."

I glanced at him. "Are you volunteering?"

"Consider it a favor."

I snorted. "Yeah, right. You just like blowing things up."

He grinned. "Guilty as charged."

The car slowed to a stop at a red light. Jason turned to , his gaze lingering.

"You know," he said, his tone softer, "you don’t have to do this alone."

I frowned, taken aback by the sudden shift in his deanor. "To each their own. You have your own to worry about. Why would you want to add mine?"

"Let’s just say I know what it’s like to carry this kind of weight, I was hoping maybe you could help with mine, maybe we could deal with them in a way satisfying for our soul, and save this God forsaken world and...and move on with our lives," he replied, his voice low. "Don’t you want that?"

Before I could respond, the light turned green, and Jason focused back on the road.

As the car pulled into the driveway of my apartnt building, he killed the engine and turned to .

"So," he said, his usual cocky grin returning. "How does it feel to start taking your life back?"

I opened the door, stepping out with a confident smile. "It feels like freedom."

"Good." Jason leaned out the window, his smirk widening. "Let know when you’re ready for the next step. I’ll bring the fireworks."

"Thanks, Jason," I said, pausing for a mont. "And to answer your question, I do want that. But I don’t want to have revenge just because it’s revenge. I want them to feel the sa pain I felt ten tis fold."

Hs nodded, "And they will."

Earlier that morning.

I stepped out of the elevator and into the luxurious hallway leading to Jason’s penthouse.

Wow. The top floor is totally different from mine.

My heart raced.

Not from nerves, at least, that’s what I told myself, but because I was determined to get him on board with my plan.

When the door swung open, I froze mid-step.

There he was.

Bare-chested.

Jason Lincoln Cole stood before , a towel slung low on his hips, water dripping from his hair, and his well-defined abs on full display.

Hot. Hot. Hotttt.

I tried to remind myself I wasn’t here for... this. But seriously, did he have to look like a walking thirst trap?

"Morning," he said, smirking when he caught staring. "You planning to stand there all day or co in?"

I snapped out of it, clearing my throat. "Uh, yeah. I just—uh..."

"Lost your words already? That’s a first." He chuckled, stepping aside to let in.

I rolled my eyes and brushed past him. "Put on a shirt."

"Why? Am I distracting you?"

"Absolutely not," I lied, refusing to et his gaze.

Jason laughed, his deep voice echoing through the spacious penthouse. "Alright, give a second."

As he disappeared into another room, I took the chance to gather my thoughts. His penthouse was as extravagant as I imagined—floor-to-ceiling windows, plush furniture, and a view that could make anyone feel like royalty.

When he returned, now wearing a plain black T-shirt, I finally found my voice. "I need your help."

He raised an eyebrow, leaning against the kitchen counter. "With?"

I took a deep breath, pacing the room. "It’s about Lyra Sterling."

Jason’s smirk faded, replaced by a more serious expression. "Go on."

I stopped pacing and turned to him. "In my past life, she broke . Completely."

Jason folded his arms, his grey eyes fixed on . "What did she do?"

I swallowed hard, mories flooding back. "She didn’t just insult , Jason. She attacked , physically and emotionally. She made it her mission to destroy , piece by piece."

"Why?" he asked.

"Because I was married to Gabriel," I said bitterly. "And when Gabriel lost his job and money stopped coming in, Lyra blad . She said I was useless, that I brought nothing but misfortune. She even blad for the miscarriage."

Jason’s jaw tightened, his hands curling into fists. "She blad you?"

I nodded, my voice trembling. "She kicked , beat , and humiliated whenever she could. And Gabriel... he let her."

Silence hung between us, heavy and suffocating.

Jason finally spoke, his tone icy. "You don’t deserve that. No one does."

"I know," I said, eting his gaze. "And that’s why I want her to pay. Not just for what she did to but for everything she’s done to others."

He exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "What’s the plan?"

I hesitated for a mont. "I don’t know...that’s why I need your help."

Jason tilted his head, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "You’re asking for my help? Didn’t think I’d ever see the day."

"Don’t let it go to your head," I shot back.

He laughed softly. "Alright. I’ll help you. But on one condition."

"What?"

Jason stepped closer, his gaze piercing. "You don’t do anything reckless. If we’re taking her down, we do it smart."

I nodded. "Deal."

He studied for a mont before crossing his arms. "Tell everything. Every detail about what she did to you."

I did.

"There is this one thing she did. She once hurt my face to the point that it deford my face."

Jason humd. His eyes thoughtful. "Don’t worry. She would pay."
