"Ethan, how could you?" I whispered, tears streaming down my face. "After all these years..."

Ethan’s face didn’t show any emotions, he didn’t reply he was cold, just the way he had been these past months.

Aurora chid in with a mocking tone, "You were always the pampered one, Daniella. Now it’s ti for to have my share."

The truth hit harder than any storm outside. My family, my love, everything I held dear, crumbled around . I felt like ice crystals had stabbed my heart.

"Ethan!" I exclaid, my voice caught between disbelief and desperation. He collected a file from the desk and handed it to , the papers crisp and official. He didn’t offer a hug, nor did he attempt to convince that this was all a nightmare.

"You have found out," he said, his tone resigned. "I was going to inform you today, but I might as well tell you now. Let’s get divorced, Daniella."

His words hung in the air, each syllable a dagger cutting through the remnants of our shared dreams. I clutched the divorce papers, the cold reality sinking in.

All those sleepless nights I was worried about him staying out too late, those excuses of not being ho, everything was a lie.

Chapter 4

Daniella’s POV

The Present

It hurts that this was what my life had turned into. A disgrace over the glory and eloquence it once was. The beautiful monts we used to share, the love we used to hold the kisses and everything. All of it is gone.

I sank to the floor of the prison cell. A profound sense of loss and regret enveloped . Gently patting my stomach, I whispered, "Darling baby, I am sorry you have to go through this."

Tears welled in my eyes, reflecting the turbulence of emotions within. The unexpected call, the unfamiliar voice, and the abrupt disconnection left suspended in a web of uncertainty.

The joy of the pregnancy was now overshadowed by a haunting question: What had just transpired on the other end of the line?

In the silence, the faint voice of my subconscious echoed, assuring , "We will survive." Though the reassurance was weak, it carried a glimr of hope.

Or maybe it was just my mind filling itself with all sorts of comfort.

Regret laced my next words as I spoke to my myself, "If miracle really does happen, I hope you tough Ethan’s heart."

The burden of guilt weighed heavily on my shoulders as I contemplated if Ethan would at least give a chance to birth this baby.

I really do hope so. I didn’t know the ti I fell asleep, the cold floor beneath serving as an uncomfortable bed.

The dim light filtering through the small window barely reached where I lay. It felt like a never-ending night, each mont blending into the next in the desolation of my prison cell.

Dreams of freedom and warmth clashed with the harsh reality of cold steel bars and the distant hum of prison life. In the silence, I could almost hear the ticking of ti, a constant reminder of life slipping away outside these confines.

When I awoke, disoriented and weary, my senses were t with the harsh reality of a dimly lit prison cell.

I had thought I would wake up to the days where I was happy, to the tis when I love my sister.

Morning brought with it a routine that felt chanical and cold. The clang of tal doors, the shuffle of footsteps, However, any fleeting comfort from sleep vanished when my arm was abruptly seized, and I was roughly pulled to my feet.

Confused and alard, I questioned the guards dragging , "Where are you taking ?"

The response was cold as always "Ti for your judgnt."

As they led through the sterile corridors of the prison, my mind raced with uncertainty.

They left at the Grand stairs that led outside of the mansion Ethan stayed. His dungeon had been below, and not too far I could see the door leading out.

"Stay here, the boss will be with you soon." One of the guards then removed my cuffs, and one of the guards sternly said.

I could feel the relief in my heart, was Ethan going to send away? Would I be free?

Excitent tingled as I heard approaching footsteps. I turned, expecting to see Ethan, my one-ti love. However, the warmth of anticipation turned into a chilling gust as I felt an unexpected shove from behind.

I didn’t even realize what was going on, until I felt my body hit a hard ground.

Stumbling down the stairs, I clutched my belly, feeling pain surge through . The descent was rciless, each step felt as if my bones were breaking. I couldn’t even open my mouth to scream.

As I reached the last part of the stairs, a searing pain shot through my neck. I gasped for breath, my vision blurring.

In that mont of agony, my eyes t the face of the person who had pushed . It looked like Ethan, but the coldness in his eyes betrayed the man I once knew.

The realization dawned too late, and the world around spun into darkness. The pain in my heart mirrored the pain in my broken body, and with one final glance at the darkness above that had orchestrated my demise, I fell to an unforgiving fate.

*****

I felt it when I died. Or so I thought? Was this heaven? Why am I hearing birds chirping? Would I even end up in heaven? What was this?

When I opened my eyes, the sun ward around my face. Everything looked bluish, but after so ti, my eyes adjusted. I sat up and noticed that I was in a silver dress. I wasn’t wearing this before.

I was in prison. I had...died. I was pregnant but here I was with a flat stomach.

I looked around and saw I was in a garden. Beautiful with roses and different garden flowers. The cobblestones were lined with gnos and silver lamps.

The fragrance surrounded , and the vibrant colors danced in the gentle breeze.

Confusion mingled with awe as I ran my fingers over the petals. It was a stark contrast to the prison walls I had been in or the suffering I had felt for the past few months.
