Iris Harris wiped the corner of her eye as she thought.

Walking ho alone in the rain, sick and lonely, from a dark road really felt miserable.

But she didn’t even have the right to bla Brandan Hyde.

He left her for Viola Harris; how could she even compare to Viola?

So, it was only natural for Brandan to leave her.

What right did she have to be sad and upset?

Iris pushed open the bedroom door and started running the hot water in the bathroom.

She was completely dazed, so weak that even breathing was difficult.

She could barely see clearly, one hand supporting herself on the sink, looking blankly at her own face in the mirror. It was no wonder Brandan was so surprised when he saw her; she looked just like a ghost now...

Iris curled her lips in a sowhat mocking smile, but suddenly her arm went limp, everything before her turned black, and she collapsed to the ground, losing consciousness.

*************

Brandan Hyde stood in the hall, irritably lighting a cigarette.

Iris Harris’s soaking wet appearance made him agitated.

He hadn’t expected Iris to make herself look so pathetic.

He recalled her saying she had just gotten back too.

So, did she walk for three hours straight?

And in the rain.

Brandan didn’t know what he was feeling, just that his chest felt both tight and uncomfortable. He took a deep drag on the cigarette, trying to calm himself down, when suddenly a loud thud ca from upstairs, startling him. Then, realizing sothing, he leapt up from the sofa and rushed upstairs like a gust of wind!

This was his third ti entering Iris Harris’s bedroom.

As soon as he walked in, he saw hot water overflowing from the bathroom, with Iris lying on the ground, her face pale and unconscious.

Brandan’s fingertips trembled uncontrollably, an indescribable fear rising from his heart. He didn’t even notice his own face turning pale.

"Iris Harris!"

Brandan rushed over, scooping the collapsed Iris off the ground. Her body was incredibly cold, but her forehead was burning hot, her lips pale and chapped, looking pitiful.

"Iris, what’s wrong?"

Brandan carried her out of the bathroom and as he held her in his arms, he couldn’t help but notice how light Iris was, as if she weighed nothing, making him feel uneasy.

He couldn’t pinpoint why he felt so panicked, holding her tightly, not even realizing that his voice was trembling.

Awoken by him, Iris blinked groggily and murmured, "Cold..."

Brandan hugged her tightly, furrowing his brows, wondering if this woman even knew how to take care of herself, letting herself get into such a state.

The presence of Brandan’s breathing cleared Iris’s mind slightly, making her body tense up a little, wanting to break free from his embrace.

"I’ll be fine after a nap," she said weakly, her voice faint, "Let down. I don’t want to trouble you."

Because of her words, a flash of anger showed in Brandan’s eyes. How funny, did she think he wanted to take charge of her?

If he hadn’t co over today, he believed she would be capable of drowning herself in the bathroom!

Being held by Brandan, Iris felt very scared.
