Half an hour later, Alex Hawk finally called Brandan Hyde.
"Brandan, I didn’t see her there. She probably went back?"
"Mm."
Brandan responded and hung up the phone.
He looked up at the rain before him. It was still pouring, showing no sign of stopping.
Brandan lowered his head, scrolling through his phone contacts. He hadn’t saved Iris Harris’s number, so naturally, he couldn’t call her now.
Brandan’s eyes stayed on the phone screen for a mont, then he suddenly put it away and quickly turned to leave.
"Brandan?!"
Viola Harris was still eating and was startled to see Brandan about to leave. She quickly stood up, "Brandan, where are you going?"
Brandan didn’t stop his steps. When he heard Viola’s voice, he just turned his head to glance at her, "Ask a nurse to stay with you. I have to go out for sothing."
After saying that, Brandan left without looking back.
Viola bit her lip hard.
Watching Brandan’s departing figure, a sense of panic rose in Viola’s heart.
Sothing seed to be veering off its original course, heading in a direction beyond her control...
Today, she indeed pretended to be sick. Brandan was busy with work and rarely ca to see her, but each ti she fell ill, he would co to accompany her.
She knew Brandan felt guilty because she had hurt herself to save him before, so he indulged her in everything. She enjoyed Brandan’s doting, but today was the first ti Brandan left without caring about her ailnt...
Was he going to see Iris Harris?
That damn woman, why couldn’t her ghost just go away?
Viola clenched her fingers tightly, hatred flashing in her eyes.
The Harris family took her in, provided her with food and clothing, yet she still wanted to steal her boyfriend!
How could there be such an ungrateful wretch in this world?
To Viola, Brandan was hers. Iris, an adopted daughter, what right did she have to compete with her for Brandan?
Sitting on the bed, Viola pursed her lips slightly, her pretty face turning pale with anger. Then, thinking of sothing, her scarlet lips curled into a sinister smile.
Five years ago, she could snatch Brandan away from her, and five years later, she can do it again!
She had plenty of ways to make Iris go away!
**********************
Brandan drove towards Iris Harris’s villa.
While driving, he furrowed his brows and cursed himself quietly for acting out of character.
It’s been one or two hours. No matter how unlucky Iris was, she should have gotten ho by now.
However, he didn’t know why he was feeling uneasy, constantly picturing Iris’s pale face standing by the roadside.
He didn’t know what was going on, but her complexion indeed looked off lately.
She seed to have fallen ill.
Was it just because of that one night together that she was this frail? She’s not Viola Harris, so physically weak.
The car stopped in front of Iris Harris’s villa. The lights were off, and it was quiet. Brandan’s brow twitched as he quickly opened the car door and approached.
Hesitating for a mont, he pressed the doorbell. A few seconds later, a hoarse voice ca from inside: "Who is it?"
It was Iris’s voice.
Brandan’s heart, which had been on edge, finally settled down.
Thinking about how he had worried over this woman for two hours, Brandan felt a bit frustrated and said grumpily, "It’s . Open the door!"
Yet the door didn’t open, and Iris’s hesitant voice ca over, "... Brandan, is there sothing wrong? It’s late, I was about to sleep."
